Hello,

I am entering med school this fall as an international student. I come from a nation with mandatory military service of 22 months, which I've yet to fulfill.
One of the options that I hope to explore is performing this service between Year 2 and Year 3 of med school.

Is there a precedence for such "temporary withdraw"?

I have of course, asked the medical school I will be attending, but wonder if there is a general, national trend among medical school when it comes to temp withdraws in med school.

Thank you.

It's rare for a student to take a break from med school, and is usually only for family or personal emergencies. Even with those emergencies, the break is usually only for a year. I don't think many schools would be receptive to a two year break.
