classes start on the 9th, so maybe you can hear something up to that day (i'm really not sure though)
 
well this really sucks...last time i called, no one has withdrawn over the weekend or on Monday...
edit: or on Tuesday...
 
I think we have until August 9th cuz of orientation week. Is anyone planning on declining buffalos acceptance anytime soon? Do u guys think there is going to be anymore movement? I'm getting pretty nervous

I talked to someone this morning at the admissions office and when I asked how my chances were, they said pretty good, since I was in the middle third. However, when I asked if there has been any movement this week, they said none. So, I don't know what to think.
 
I have a feeling that there are like only about 15-20 or so people left in the middle 1/3. If only people withdrew, then maybe they can get through the whole middle 1/3...
 
I have the urge to call as well.. but trying my best not to. Calling doesn't really help and I really don't know what to say. haha
 
I've decided that I'll be hanging on til the bitter end.

Although, it doesn't help that someone else in my lab got accepted to a med school this morning 🙁
 
I just wish they'd tell us where we were... although id be super sad if i was the next one and didnt get in. 🙄

Good luck guys, we have 2 weeks left. Everything is in boxes and ready to go over here. After my MCAT test I have to unpack everything haha, prepare to live here another year.

edit: Buffalo is too cold. I missed so many classes because of snow in Ithaca...Now does one really want to miss alot of classes in med school 'cause of all that snow and ice?
 
Should I start doing a indian dance to help others get into places they really want to be at? LoL.. i'm sure other people play golf too... I was so looking forward to snowboarding in winter and golf in the spring.

Well you never know... we never know what will happen. Although I do find it strange that the Buffalo keeps saying good chance for middle third.

If this helps anyone, After going through my PMs (that all you guys, and the guys that are in the middle 1/3 that don't post on the thread but gave me a PM) it seems as though there are only 8 people in the middle 1/3 still waiting to hear something on SDN. Thats a lot less than those on our list currently...
(So after whipping out my calculator, and the limit as x goes to infinity, and doing the integral...I figure that....)

If what is true from previous years threads, that there are 87 people in each 1/3, and that they are in the bottom 1/3, well that means that at most there are 29 people still waiting in the middle 1/3. Since they called girlsporty up, and she moved from the bottom 1/3 to the middle 1/3 around when the finalized the list, it seems as though there are less than 29 people left to call.
Now if only 8 people are serious about going to buffalo this late in the game and post on SDN, i would say the actual number of people still serious about going to Buffalo is around 15...And as it seems from previous years that there is some movement right when orientation rolls around (I say that about 5 or so people from SDN get in right before or when orientation starts), but we also have to take into account that there are more people posting on SDN this year then compared to last year or the year before that. SOOOOOOO, from my calculations, i deduce that they can still get through the whole middle 1/3 this year...
(sorry for the grammar mistakes, I hope this makes sense to anyone else, It kinda makes sense to me)
 
weren't there some people that are still on the list that were told at some point that they were in the top of the middle 1/3? what happened to them? or did they just get moved down to the botttom of the middle 1/3 when the list was finalized?

yep, there are two people on the list that were told at some point they were in the top of the middle 1/3. However, I find it highly suspect that they are in the top or middle of the middle 1/3 based purely on the fact that the office still tells those in the bottom 1/3 that they still have a chance, abet it a very small one (about a 5% chance). Now since there is about a week and a 1/2 left, would the office really tell those in the bottom 1/3 they still had a chance if they weren't somewhat close to the bottom 1/3? I would assume that the office would tell those in the bottom 1/3 that they will not get to them this yea, but that is not the case....However, what the hell do i know, i'm just going though speculation and from what i am implying and deducing. I could be totally off
 
Hahaha we got Sherlock Holmes here everybody... yea i was one of those people who was told I was at top of middle third in march.. didn't think I would drop that far after 2 months of interviews or so... kinda confused.. but eh... hopefully i'll kick butt on mcat on the 6th...

Hmm, I was surprised at this turn of events as well. Let me add two more thoughts, Toxicgate:

There were two extra interview days this year. I personally estimated a maximum of 100 per middle third rather than 87 per.

I interviewed in September. I was told in the fall that I was in the top of the middle third. I was told in the winter that I was in the bottom third. I was told in the spring when they finalized the lists that I was in the middle third.

*sighs* This has been an excruciating and bizarre process all along. :luck:

They probably say that there's a chance because it's hard to predict waitlist movements. So until they say nay, I'm going to stay here til August 9th. I think they should give it to those on SDN that are still obsessing.

I just think we are all just a little frustrated with the whole process and how things are going thus far...Its sad but I'm really sad that I probably wont be your class mates next year. You guys are really great and I would have loved to spent the next 4 years with you.

I think its about time to tell my friends in NYC that I will be going to Warped tour with them and I have to tell my upstate friends that wont be going to Warped in buffalo.
 
ahh, makes sense...i guess it's different when someone calls in all happy-go-lucky vs anxious. don't give up hope yet, there's still some who have a good chance of getting in during the next 2 weeks :luck::luck::luck:
 
I'm glad to hear spots open up until Aug 9... I'm still hoping to hear from my hometown school and am trying not to give up hope. If I withdraw from UB, I hope one of you gets my spot!
 
I called again this mourning - I mean morning - no movement this whole week🙁 So is Aug 9th or aug 6th the last day of phone calls?

Well Aug 6th is orientation, so I would imagine it would be then (but I am sure spots could in theory open up if someone starting here got a late call from another school).

woo! topspin you like The Get Up kids? :horns: Something To Write Home About is one of my fav cd's of all time, them Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, and Brand New really influenced my life, they got me into everything I listen to now. On a side note, if i was to ever get married, I soo gonna propose to the song "I'll Catch You". If Mark Hoppus can do it, why cant I? 😎

Well there is one fewer member on the facebook group, but still no one has withdrawn according to the office.

Maybe i'll get to stay in CA next year. People say things happen for a reason, so I guess it may be true. But I was really hoping id get to spend 4 years with you cool peeps.
