Hey guys, it's been a long time since I had the chance to visit this page. I really wish you guys the best. I applied to medical schools twice and it was really a test of endurance and willingness to enter medicine. In fact, during this year, also applied to post-bac programs just in case. The first time was really devastating for me because I applied, got interviews, and did not get in. (Hopefully you guys WILL GET IN THOUGH!) That year, I did not know about some of the post-bacs out there and was left with nothing to rely on. I even considered joining the army to get into medical schools easier (wrong decision---as a signature away from becoming a military doctor).

BTW, Drexel has really great programs. Go to their website and check out DPMS program (it's a guaranteed acceptance after one year of taking MEDICAL CLASSES and retaking the MCAT). They also have two other programs that guarantee interviews and high acceptance rates. These two programs will earn you a masters and then an MD.

Oregon Health Sciences med school also has a pre-acceptance program as does Wake Forest University and UCLA so check them out as well.

WISH YOU GUYS ALL THE BEST....THIS WHOLE MEDICAL SCHOOL THING IS JUST TOO MUCH AND TOO CRAZY. ISN'T MEDICINE SUPPOSED TO BE A HEALING NOT STRESSFUL PROFESSION????

I'm pulling for the rest of you guys on the waitlist. You all seem like such cool people and I would love to meet all of you. Unfortunately there is little to no movement at all in the past week or so. I saw Jeff at the admissions office in person this afternoon while I was doing some admin stuff (parking pass, change of address, verifying documents sent etc) and he verified this....sorry to be the bearer of bad news 🙁 This seems to be one of the roughest years in medical admissions ever in terms of competitiveness with record high number of applicants, as well as high GPA/MCAT scores across the board.

I'm sorry toxicgate....that sucks......and this whole waitlist business sucks. I know we've all been sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear, and I think I'm optimism has finally run out. I'm putting in my AMCAS next week. And I'm giving the MCAT one final shot, since I really believe that it is the ONLY thing holding back my admission.

sadly I think they can. As it gets closer to orientation, they might take people that live closer to the school...It's just so that they know if they do accept someone say on the day of orientation, then they can be there at the school the same day and be ready to go.

This sucks for a couple of reasons. One, I know that I am probably about 5 people away from getting in. Two, I didn't think to apply to Buffalo last year, when almost everybody got in. And three, I am going to St. George's in Jan, which is so much more expensive and it is a FMS.

Toxicgate, just wanted to say I've really appreicated your updates. I was also in the middle third, hanging on all summer. **** happens. I think I'm done pursuing med school as of this year. F all this. I'm out of here, the Half-Baked style...

After finding out just how good they are I'm actually really excited to go and thankful things worked out this way.

I absolutely don't want you to take this at all in a challenging or accusatory way, but take a step back and reexamine your attitude a/b going to medical school if this is how you feel deep down a/b st. george's. Just know that there are MANY students waitlisted there as well. If you don't want to go, someone else does, just like ubuffalo. of that you can be assured.

WTF??!?! 7 people had to repeat M1???? Those 7 spots might have been enough to get everyone in the middle 1/3 in! THATS JUST NOT FAIR. I remember reading that the same thing also happened at BU...are you sure your not confusing buffalo for Boston university. anyways, there was a big discussion on the Boston university waitlist thread in how that was totally un fair that people that could be amazing doctors coulden't get into medical school because of failures of past classes...to me 7 members outta a class of 135 being left behind is not acceptable at at and is very appalling.
