"We are currently in the "upper third" of our wait list moving down steadily. Your chance of acceptance is now 55-60%.

Housing should not be a problem, since the Buffalo area is a
"hot-bed" for housing."

Before, he said i had a 50% now its 55-60% yippie, at least the odds are getting better

I would rather house with people from here or other UB med students than random roommates, which is what I meant by missing the housing. Especially since forum group seem like nice and courteous/caring people.

congrats. thanks for the updates...it is good to know that things are moving steadily even though we can't see the changes.
 
Hmm I wonder if the 55-60 is based on anything, if its not a random estimate and toxic is on the bottom of the middle as it appears than the higher middles are looking at a 70% chance?
 
All i know is that before mr. rosso was telling me that those in my position had a 50/50 chance, and now he increased the chances. So that must mean that they are seeing some more movement and can see more in the middle 1/3 being taken off. Anyways, im just finnished editing my 2008 AMCAS application and am going to start restudying for the mcats 🙁 guess that means no summer for me.

Im waiting for the ship(of hope) to go down completely before doing anything to build my application 🙂

no, just chose it based on what i was looking for, past threads, and what some current students said. it would have been nice to see it first, but between thesis and vacation, really short on time. i also heard from different sources that these apts (blvd twrs) would be completely unavailable after housing weekend, so i wanted to get it over with before leaving town...hope i don't hate it :laugh:
 
AHHHHHHH! I just want to know where I am going in August. I have been mentally prepping myself for a move to Saint Louis, but now I am thinking I might get into Buffalo?? I don't know if I should fly to SL to look for apartments or wait a little longer 😕

it's moving so much slower this year. i wait how medical schools torture people in such a cruel way-anxiously waiting. I wish everyone on the waitlist can make it in soon...all we need now is more people canceling their admissions.
 
oops, i meant "hate how medical.." not "wait" haha. may a new day bring many pleasant surprises! BE BRAVE AND CALL THEM UP! The computer updates are too slow and waiting is no fun...

after doing a bit of SDN searching, it seems as though all the other waitlists are moving quite slow as well

I've been following this thread for quite a while but never posted. I was accepted to Buffalo yesterday. I have thought about it but am planning on turning down the acceptance though. I wish you all the best of luck with this whole process. I hope that my spot goes to one of you 🙂.

Well it has somewhat of a "whiplash effect" or chain reaction. If I get accepted at a school and then later get accepted at another school that I like better then I will withdraw from school #1 and their waitlist moves up a notch. The person that took my spot at school #1 now withdraws from their #2 school and their waitlist moves up a notch and so on. So for the most part all waitlists are very related in terms of movement with most of the difference occuring because of administrative efficiency. If one school takes a week to process a withdrawal letter from a student and subsequently accept another student off their waitlist then that schools waitlist will move quite a bit slower than the school that takes only one day to turn the process around.

I just called Mr. Rosso this morning and he said that the wait list movement in the past 2 weeks has slowed down with only sporadic movement:scared: They are still working through the top third at the moment. Let's all hope there are more withdrawals this week!

Thanks girlsporty for your well wishes! It'll be great if your prediction for me comes true. I just listed my house for sale a few days ago and it would be really nice to know exactly where I am going so that I can start finding a house at the other end!

Bluemirage - I'm also predicting that I'll get into Buffalo in July, so my prognostication skills are (so far) amateur at best.

But when all family/friends keep asking me about Buffalo, I thank them for asking. THEN, I tell them I'm going to get accepted in July and would they mind thinking positively for me. 🙂
