UC acceptance, deposit?

From what I gather in the MSAR, once a UC offers you an acceptance, you have to decide yes or no within 2 weeks, and none of that deposit to hold place stuff, is this true?

I had a week for UCI (took me less than 1 second), but that was off of the alternate list. UCI just required a signed intent to matriclate form and a white coat order form. Good luck!!

I guess your intent to matriculate form holds your spot, but no, there is no monetary means of securing a spot. It makes me kind of nervous, too. If I hadn't already received my new ID number from UCI, I would be worried. I'm just like that, you know...

You can withdraw after submitting it, absolutely. Its purpose is to hold your spot. No more, no less. Can't tell you about Stanford since I didn't apply there... 😳

Ah yes, thank you for your input. I don't think anyone can say they'll probably get into a UC or Stanford, or any cali school.

Anyways, heres my real question. For all schools, even after sending an intent to matriculate, you can still withdraw it. Thus you don't really decide which school you will go to until May, is this correct?

Yes. When you get accepted, you accept their acceptance and hold onto it. Then by May 15, you have to have one and can withdraw all your other acceptances. If you get pulled off a waitlist at a school you like you can withdraw from your accepted school, and accept that waitlisted school.

Then if you're pulled off another waitlist at a school you like more, you can accept that and withdraw from your previous acceptance. This can go on until you start your first day of med school at which point you cannot accept anymore acceptances off waitlists.

With my scores, people would have said no way for a cali school. Instead, I got into two. There is no reality in Med school admissions. Sometimes things just don't make sense at all and you have to hope that it works in your favor.
