The closest you'll get with the Davis bus system is the H line I linked. If you take another line from your hotel into the Silo, then you can take the H line from the Silo to the genome center. Fare is $1.00 to board the bus to come to campus, but free leaving from campus.

You can catch the A line at the corner of 1st and C - I believe your hotel is at 2nd and B. At the Unitrans site you can look up time schedules, and day of you can check the NextBus link from that site to use the GPS tracking on the buses to get real-time arrival data.

I had my interview today and lived 😀 Big sigh of relief. The interviewers were all super nice and the time we had together flew by. I couldn't believe it when they said our time was up. It was very conversational and easy going. Good luck to everyone else interviewing. I'm sure you will do great!!:luck::luck:

That probably doesn't mean get a C in neuro, which is what I have right now!
I'm taking neuro, biochem II, genetics, and a graduate physio seminar in environmental toxicology, a total of 16 units. With work and my health probs. as well, I'm spread a little thin. Today is the withdraw deadline, I'm wondering which looks worse, a W or a C.

p.s. I might choose "Party in the USA" to dance to as I dance in my tiara, a bit less depressing. 🙂

p.p.s. glad to hear you thought micro was more important than anatomy, because I already took it, and aced it.

If it isn't too late to withdraw yet, then call the Davis admin and ask - it's only 4:30. I called when I was taking an anthro class with a professor who was a VERY unfair grader and I chose to take the W. Every school I asked said that as long as you have 1 or 2 and no more that it isn't a problem at all - you can always put it in your explanation statement (which I did, but phrased it better than that, haha). A W sounds scary, but a C is harder to recover from and some schools even told me that they take it as showing a certain maturity to be able to say "I took on too much and decided to focus my efforts instead" sort of thing. Just make sure you stay strong in your other classes and a W isn't an issue. Hope that helps!!

I had my interview this morning. I was definitely grilled at the beginning by Dr. Lacudro, but then they backed off and were really nice!

I had 10 or more W's on my transcripts. I explained them in my VMCAS supplemental but no one ever asked me about them. Not that I recommend this course of action. Just know that 1 or 2 or 10 W's apparently won't kill your chances.

Don't worry - his name isn't exactly easy to spell 🙂

I believe last year they said not to send thank you's, but you can always give Kathleen a call to confirm that.

lol sorry, i was multitasking and took a short break from refreshing this page every 5 minute or less.

i was actually quite surprised at the offer, but happy for the help. thanks everyone, really appreciate your friendliness. calmed down a bit now, but feelin sleepy haha...but the show must go on for tonight..midterm right b4 i fly up to sac.

Seriously though Incendium is amazing and one of my favorite people and I can totally vouch for her driving skills. 😀
 
I know at more than one school I had an interviewer in the group that seemed to have the goal of catching me off guard or trying to corner me. While it may seem like that from the interviewee side, I don't think that's the intention (most of the time). They have such a short time to get to know you and decide if and how you would fit into their class. A lot of times it seemed like it was part of their personality and almost like they couldn't help it or didn't notice it. The first time it happened I left thinking I did something wrong, but after the next one I realized that it's not that uncommon and they were just trying to get the most out of our time (to put it nicely, haha). It can feel uncomfortable at the time, but if you can go into it almost expecting that, you won't be caught off guard as much and if they aren't like that you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Back to trying to study for the infamous neuro exam...

I don't want to steal anybody's interviewee, eventualeventer! You guys are highly anticipated around here. 😍
 
Hey everyone!

I just wanted to thank all of the current vet students for the great interview workshop. Everyone was so excited to be there and their love for their school was really apparent. The facilities are amazing, professors seem wonderful, and the students are the icing on the cake. Thanks again to everyone that put it on and to the random people that stopped me before and after my interview in the hallways to wish me luck! What a special place. I will be crossing my fingers while I wait to hear the news.

Just did my interview today, everyone was really nice. To those still waiting to interview, don't worry at all. There was no bad guy, everyone in the room seemed to be on my side and were actually really complimentary: congratulated me on being here, complimented my GRE scores and even complimented my interview itself. I thought my GPA would be an issue but it wasn't. Mostly they wanted to see what i'd been doing since graduation from college (its been a few years), what i wanted to do in vet med and what i was like as a person (by my count they asked 5 ethical questions). They give you a chance at the beginning to say what you've been doing since you applied and at the end they give you a chance to give any extra details/ tell them why to pick you 🙂.

For reference i had (and will butcher all three names, even those previously mentioned in the thread): Dr. La Feber, Dr. LeCouter, Dr. White. All three were incredibly nice and supportive.

All in all i am super excited about davis and really excited to hear back next month (its out of my hands now so why worry.. though my fingers are most certainly crossed:xf:). For the time being I am celebrating my interview and the rainy day by having an irish coffee in the Sacramento airport.

Good luck to all the interviewees :luck:!!! And thanks C/O 2013 and all the faculty and staff who have been so wonderful to me this weekend 😍

P.S. Irish coffee seems to make me effusive

So for those of us still kind of in limbo, has anyone gotten official rejection this week? Seems like with all our inquiries we've heard conflicting updates from Admissions office - interview invites will still trickle out the next few weeks, no they' were all sent out last week and rejections are going out this week, etc. I know with not getting an interview invite I should (and mostly have) give up hope, but some little part of me is still clinging to the fantasy I'm sitting on someone's desk up there with a "maybe" or "pending" stickie on my file.

At the interview workshop, I think it was Yasmin who said that all of the invites for the year had gone out.

I am in the same situation with UPenn (sure that I'm rejected but no letter yet), and I know it's frustrating. It really sucks that schools do this to us, but I guess it's part of the game when there are so many qualified applicants, you know? 🙁
 
Yes, at the very beginning of the interview workshop Yasmin said that ALL interview invites for this year had gone out by yesterday (that Friday), and now they were only sending out rejections. Sorry. 🙁
 
I haven't gotten my rejection letter yet either - from Davis or from London.
I know all the invites have been sent out, but I don't understand why there is this hesitation in sending out rejection letters. You would think that they would at least put us out of our misery .....the fact that they haven't of course leads to some (obviously false) hope that all of the interviewees far will say no to the offers & more invites will go out.

Uhh...the last interview invites went out 2/19, and it is 2/24. You honestly expect them to send out 847 rejection letters in 2 days? Jeez. Why do people have such unreasonable expectations for the UC system?

ETA: Not to mention that they started interviews this week, which I'm sure occupies a crapload of staff time and energy, and they couldn't send out rejections when they were sending out interview invites as they had to wait to hear from all the interviewees in case they send someone a rejection pre-emptively!
 
😱 Woah - no need to get so hostile.
Of course I don't expect that ALL the rejection letters would be sent out within the first 3 days - especially since it took them over a week to get out 220 invites. However, I do think that since they deal with this every year, they could put a little more thought into trying to find a more efficent way of dealing with the process.

I'm sorry, but I have been holding my breath since I applied this summer - and yes, waiting these last few days to finaly get my rejection is KILLING ME!

Well, to be perfectly honest, they did send out some rejections already because some OOSers on here got them and a couple of us know some ISers who did too. So they don't have ALL of them left to send out and it's probably just those applicants who they were considering until the last round of cuts. It's probably hard to think of that as a silver lining for those still waiting to hear, though, so IMO cut them some slack.
 
damn...it just hit me that i'm flying up tomorrow night. i feel half ready and the other half wants to vomit. so all in all, i feel quite good! =) i look forward to meeting some of you soon!

Do you think, if I called them, they could confirm the rejection I'm sure I will be receiving? I'm literally just waiting here for my rejection e-mail so I can send away the deposit to go to U of E. I'm only waiting as a "just in case".

Interviews will be held in the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Gladys Valley Hall, Room 2071
To assist you in parking and making your visit as stress-free as possible, several parking spaces have been reserved for interviewees in parking lot 50 (VP 50) near Gladys Valley Hall http://taps.ucdavis.edu/parking/.

OP: Call me dense but where can we park?
 
It would be incredibly unlikely, but its possible that 100 applicants could totally bomb their interview in which case, they would send out more last minute invitations. That is perhaps why they haven't sent out the rejection notices yet. Plus, it IS a lot of work. Keep in mind that its just Kathleen who sends out the notices, and she's been busy welcoming the interviewees and running the actual interviews. And once the rejection notices go out, people will start calling the office to schedule the post-rejection reviews, which also adds incentive for the school to wait.

You could always call Donna and explain your situation. She is super nice and can probably help you.
 
I didn't mean to come off as hostile, but I was as shocked by what you said as you were to what I said. 😉 My jaw dropped when I read that you thought they were being slow about things, I was just reacting because it seems so many people get upset when information is not forthcoming instantly. I'm sorry I came off as hostile, my apologies. I am a very...blunt? realistic? person, and having been through this whole process I know patience is the key.

Good luck jesiah, just breathe and kick some interview bootie! And good luck to everyone who has already interviewed, hopefully we'll be classmates this Fall.
 
The only way you are scarey is scarey smart! Anyone who needs a host while they're visiting would be very lucky to get Incendium. 👍🙂

I actually called and they said that everyone should have heard from Davis by now (they sent the rejections yesterday). They said that a lot of the emails didn't leave the UC system for some reason, so they re-sent my rejection e-mail to me. LOL.

Lol. That is a bummer...oh well I guess my rejection is lost in cyber-space. Not that I really care that much, but I might have to call them and ask them to re-send mine so I can set up a file review. But, I am not too worried about it currently. I know they are busy with all of the interviewees.

hey everyone!

new to posting with SDN...i have an interview with davis later next week, and had at least one pressing question:

what, if anything, should be brought to the interview? a resume? padfolio? copy of app? copy of personal statement? anything? or just a suit and a smile?

i know that this has sort of been answered in the general "interview attire" thread with mixed answers, but wanted some feedback directly relevant to the davis process...people who have interviewed before, what did you bring?

kinda freaking out here but good luck to everyone who has had/is having interviews, and bummer to those with rejections...it so easily could have been anyone....
 
Nothing is required besides suitable attire and a good attitude. I brought a nice folder (leather bound type that had my undergrad's logo on it) with a pad of paper and pen. No resume, personal statement, etc. The interview panel has their own laptops with your application pulled up so they don't need hard copies of anything.

I did write a few questions down for the interviewers on my pad of paper and some important things I wanted to bring up if given a chance. Otherwise, they don't ask you for anything.
