dang it! it hadn't even crossed my mind that today was a holiday in the states.

here's to good news tomorrow for those of us still waiting!

I just called the number to try to schedule my interview (I've been out of town pretty much non-stop since receiving the invite) and it rang about 500 times and no one picked up.... so yeah, holiday!!!

Good luck everyone still waiting!!!:luck:

Anyone out there (students, alum, applicants) know how Davis decides the incoming class?

I know they say in their admissions info that they give a certain % to GPA/GRE, personal statement/LORs, interview, etc - - - and I am just wondering what they do with that percentage? Are we ranked as applicants and the top applicants get accepted? Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the process...

🙂

When I spoke to the Davis rep that came to my school, she said that this is how the break down went...

25% GPA
25% GRE
20% Interview
30% Experience, etc, etc...

I am pretty sure that is what she said.. I know for fact that the 1st 2 are right because I was in shock as to how much my academics factored into my application..50%!!😱 ...Then I realized that most of the schools do this anyway... lol:laugh:
Hope that helps!

Yeah I understand the breakdown...but is it as simple as at the end of interviews they add everyone up and the top _#_ applicants (calculated by the sum of their %) get offered seats?

Anyone hear anything?? Nothing here and Im IS (SoCal)

nothing here, either. i'm also IS, but currently in mexico. i keep telling myself it just takes email longer to travel south of the border 🙂

patience is a virtue?

Nothing here either! OMG.....this is driving me insane!

Hey all... I'm in the same boat, too. No response. 🙁 I'm starting to lose optimism as each day passes by... But if someone gets a response soon, I'll feel better. Btw, I'm IS (N. Cali). Good luck! :xf:

Does anyone get the deep down dreaded feeling that interview invites are already done and over with and they just say that its till this Fri to keep our hopes up??🙁

Perhaps Im being too cynical about this but im losing hope!!
I am also getting a little tired of being OCD about my email +pissed+
lol. owell... Heres to staying positive and optimistic!!:luck::xf::luck::xf::luck::xf::luck::xf:

My guess as to what is going on...

They sent the invites out the first week of the two week span to a certain number of people (perhaps 220?) and maybe based upon how many people decline the interview, they will send additional invites out, giving them until Friday, the 20th to give them 220 total interview candidates. That would make sense to me as a procedure, but what do I know, right?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys! I certainly never thought I would be inviewing at Davis, so I have hope that anything is possible! And heck, since some schools in the past have resorted to calling up their rejected applicants and offering them spots...I think anything really IS possible! :xf::luck:

I was just wondering if anyone from out of state had recieved an interview invite yet. I definately feel like I missed something and the interviews are finished. I have been thinking about calling, but I am not sure if that would be kosher.

Best Regards,
Karlee

those are my feelings exactly. but, i am trying really hard not to be a total pessimist so i have been trying not to say them aloud 🙂 but, enough with the artificial optimism...yes, i am pretty sure the interview invites are done and it is just a matter of time until the rejections show up in our boxes.

bah humbug.

Do you guys happen to know when davis sends out rejections?

i've pretty much given up hope

Nothing against this place, as I absolutely love it here and all and the people in the office are nice and everything - but calling really seldom ever does any good. For whatever reason, they are pretty cryptic about telling anything over the phone most of the time, and really they pretty much out and out lie sometimes. The admissions process here is not very transparent, at all, like it is at some other schools. Sucks, but it's just the way they do it and you know, whatever...

i got an interview!!! i just got the email about 20 minutes ago. sooooooo excited! they said they had 2 more time slots to fill. so, needless to say, i didn't have many choices 🙂 it's going to be tricky to figure out how to get over the border and back, but i WILL be there. ahhhh!! need to go finish my happy dance!

Wow! 2 slots! Congrats Pupsforseeing!!!

Did they say whether they finished inviting ppl for interviews yet when you called?

Congrads!!!

I guess my OCD with emails could be cured very soon....🙁

YAAAAY!!!! Congrats. If they didn't invite you to interview this year, I was going to be very unhappy! 😀

You coming to the orientation thingie this weekend? Probably not because of the whole being in Mexico thing, eh?

Congrats pups! So by two time slots left....does that mean you filled one...and there is only one interview invitee left?? Good luck at the border!

So who is attending the interviewee orientation this Saturday?

So who is attending the interviewee orientation this Saturday?

I'll be there! 😀

I know it's supposed to rain on Saturday, but I'm crossing my fingers that it'll stay dry, atleast for our tour!

To those who haven't checked the website lately, the video from last years interview orientation weekend is up (click current applicants). It is a GREAT video although it died like 1/8 the way into it - stupid internet in middle of nowhere Virginia. I actually wish I had seen it before my other interviews, perhaps worthy of it's own thread? Someone may have already posted about it, but I am trying to avoid this thread as reality sets in that my UCD interview invite is not coming 🙁

vagirl, nope, no orientation weekend for me. distance/finances are prohibitive of that happening. so excited to be making the trek in 3 weeks, though!

and for whoever asked, there were 2 timeslots left besides mine. they didn't say, though, whether the invites for those had been sent out or not, though.

Congratulations!!! You deserve it.

I'll be there too! Can't wait! Congrats, pupsforseeing.

thanks! i'm not going to lie, i'm pretty excited about getting to be on california soil (even if it's only for about 27 hours!). i know it's going to be a little bit of sensory overload, but i guess that'll just add to the stressful and exciting nature of the trip! i am already practicing speaking coherent english without signing, using weird facial expressions, or making odd noises 🙂

Ok... no more SDN for today... sorry to hijack your thread. Carry on, peoples.

I'm convinced that I've been rejected! Its just scary moving out of CA for 4 years.

Why?

Just tell them that you may start signing because of where you have been. You don't need to try to worry about anything else to make you nervous. I am sure they won't mind.

To those of you that got interviews.. congrats! and I wish you the best of luck... get on out there and kick sum *****!!:luck::xf::luck::xf:

For those of us that didnt... *sigh. Its pretty much over for davis...
Thanks for playing. Good game, Good Game. *Slaps everyone on their butt* lol:laugh::laugh:

I know... Im lame...🙄

So...what did everyone think of the Orientation day?

<--- more nervous now that i know I love the school. 🙄

However, I wish we could have had a bit more info about the curriculum, itself.

Well it's officially over for me...at least for Davis. Just got the rejection email today around 5pm EST. 🙁 *sigh*
Good Luck to everyone else though :luck:

just had my interview for davis... the interviewers were pretty nice, didnt ask anything unexpected... seemed like they just wanted to get to know you so those of you who have your interviews coming up... dont worry and good luck!

So sorry to hear that Robeezy! Much luck to you and hopefully you'll get in somewhere else!

I totally forgot that interviews officially started today! Did anyone interview today?

Edit: Wow...jellytea beat my question by seconds! How'd it go for you? Don't forget to do Interview Feedback! 🙂

any idea when the IS rejection emails go out? it'd be nice just to have the closure... :-[

I had my interview today at 9 am, I was pretty nervous, but everyone was very nice, and the interview went great. They were all very laid back, and just wanted to learn a little bit more about me, and make sure i wasnt a nutbag. I got them to laugh a little and the interview was over before i knew it. For those who have it coming up, dont worry about it!

I'm waiting for the rejection too....Even though i know it's probably a rejection, it would still be nice to have it in writing.

Just interviewed today at 1:30. Not so bad at all. I was a bit nervous in the waiting room, but Kathleen, the lady in charge of checking us all in, and Yasmin were super nice. Made me feel much more comfortable. The questions were pretty much what I'd seen from the link from the interview acceptance email, why do you want to be a vet? what have you been doing since you applied? where do you see yourself in 8 years? With an ethical question about culling flocks of poultry and how I'd explain that to the media and animal rights activists. It went by super fast, and the interviewers were pretty laid back. I hoped I'd get Dr. LeFebvre, but no dice 🙂. Half hour blew by, and before I knew it I was out of the door. Good luck to the rest of you interviewees, and I feel for ya if you didn't get it this time.

Cheers!
