It's May 7th. 👍herefrmhel said:hey everyone! I interviewed 1/4 and got the call from dr. peterson on 2/4 (saturday night at 6pm!) while i was sitting on the couch watching tv... it was the LAST call i expected on a saturday night! i called the office and they said the revisit day was may 7th but i have it marked in my calendar at april 7th and 8th for some reason. we're supposed to get something in the mail as the time comes closer! good luck everyone!
cHocoBo 118 said:im kinda curious about that too. What are you guys doing about housing? Are we supposed to sign up for something? i just remember filling out some form on the interview day, checking stuff off that I wasnt even sure of.

SanDiegoSOD said:Haha ya... Where the hell did I sign up to live? Verano or Palo... something? I wish the acceptance package would have said a little more about housing.
anystream said:ok I figured it out: once you're accepted, you're supposed to send the $20 fee to the UCI housing office. They'll process it and email you with more info. That was something I definitely loved about UCI, the housing seems very comfortable. Does anyone remember what the (private) housing complex at UCI was? They described one that sounded pretty cool, I think it had a swimming pool?

Gracey103 said:The private housing complex is called vista del campo and its "private" b/c its not owned by the university, however they only lease their apartments to UCI students and they have a separate section only for graduate students. It is brand spankin new (opened 2 years ago), fully furnished, with a full size bed in each room. They are opening another housing complex next to VDC called Vista Del Campo Norte. A free shuttle runs back and forth from the complex to the campus. VDC has a swimming pool with a bbq grill area, a basketball court, recreation center open 24 hours with pool tables, foosball, air hockey table, theater and a computer lab. I have had friends live there and it is very nice. One different between VDC and the on-campus housing that I consider very important is that VDC has AC, whereas PV does not. It can get VERY hot without AC. However PV is nice too bc they just built some new apartments.
cHocoBo 118 said:based on your extensive knowledge on this stuff, im guessing you went to undergrad at UCI. May I ask then if you know of any other private apt complexes around UCI that are fairly nice but not so pricey as VDC?
after browsing the VDC website, i dont think i can live at PV or verano anymore. haha.
LOL...even though it's a little scary being the only white dude in there, I never miss D&B's if I'm back at my family's home in Mission Viejo on a Thursday night. Mmmm such fond memories of Thanksgivings past...Gracey103 said:D&B's thursday nite!

The streets around here include Harvard, Yale, Berkeley, Cornell, Columbia, and Oxford. There's a Princeton Park. Not that anything's wrong with it--it just would have made more sense to have Irvine themed streets.Gracey103 said:If you want to live really close check out Stanford Court, Harvard Court, Dartmouth court, and Berkeley Court (Do you sense a pattern in the names here? Its like they're trying to rub it in our faces 🙄 )
yup...love the TNTeas!!! We should meet up next time we're both in OC! 😉Gracey103 said:HAHAHA..Bluntman..Thursday nites at D&B's is CRAZY! Its so crowded that you have to cram your way through to get to the bar and even then the bartenders are so busy that you end up standing there for a good 15 minutes to get the bartenders attention. I've seen a couple of white people trickled here and there..occasionally...Its true..its infested with Asian people from UCI.
beffers8888 said:Wait, Feb 22 people have heard already? I interviewed Feb 6 and haven't heard yet! Has everyone else from Feb 6 heard back from them?

pls accept me said:The streets around here include Harvard, Yale, Berkeley, Cornell, Columbia, and Oxford. There's a Princeton Park. Not that anything's wrong with it--it just would have made more sense to have Irvine themed streets.
Anyways, if you want housing for UCI, there is cheaper housing farther away in central OC. I commute about 30-60 minutes each way to UCI from home, and let me tell you that the med students usually have plenty of parking in their part of campus.
UCI please accept me! I'm dedicating the next five months of my life to getting off the alternate list. It's not over yet!
Gracey103 said:Did you get anything official? Letters? Email? I checked my status page after I read this and it doesn't say anything yet...Its ok tho...I'd rather not know when the decision will be made, cuz it makes me more anxious about the outcome. I would rather be pleasantly, or unpleasantly surprised. 😛 Determined not to stress out like all the others, altho I'm on SDN 24/7 at work (HAHAH "work").

pdiddy348 said:Hey Gracey, Gayle Pierce is really helpful and nice, and she's pretty easy to get in touch with. So ya, i do recommend calling her. i think as long as you convince them that theyr'e still your top choice you'll be golden. take care.
