i just got my rejection letter (which needs to be downloaded) from USC just now. they mustve known that im a bruin at heart.

i think this negative force was a necessary component to balance out the positive one that is to come VERY SOOOOON.

Hey guys/gals...I have been reading this thread for some time...I have been checking my status page compulsively as well and each time I called I was told that decisions can take up to 8 weeks after the interview to be sent out. This is of course different from what one of the other posters was told (i.e. there is no timing on when decisions are sent out)...

Any case...mid-February is here...good luck everyone 🙂
 
Your misioni everyone, should you choose to accept it, is to make this thread as LONG as possible. I want a hundred pages by March when the letters are out

Definitely don't give up. I'm certain that they're still giving out interview invites, but I must say that according to my friend who applied last year, interviews that were offered for late February were for waitlist spots only (my friend was notified of this when the interview was offered). According to this thread, they're running behind schedule this year, so don't give up hope yet!
 
Anyone call yet today for an update? I think they know my voice by now, and I fear I will anger the admissions gods.

Boris....I'm sorry but whenever I see your avatar, I can't help but think of a quivering turkey on tipped on its side. Maybe I'm just ****ed in the head. lol. :laugh:

are all of you guys in-state or out of state? I am out of state which means my chances for an interview and acceptance is probably somewhere between 0.00000005%-0.0000001%. Isn't true that being a Calif resident gives you a huge advantage when applying to UCLA? something like only 10% of the class is out of state.
 
Yeah, I think the MSAR tells you that around 10% come from out of state, which is a definite disadvantage. Not sure about the applied/accepted ratio and if they are similar to instate, Im guessing its lower.


Also, when I think of Boris, I think of invincible Boris in GoldenEye. Its a weird but cool combination, red hot cheetos and nintendo64.

As for calling UCLA Geffen SOM, I definitely have the urge, but I know that it will do absolutely nothing and possibly make someone in the admissions office angry. I think it might slow them down even. They will not give your/my decision over the phone, and we have to wait for it in the mail. The only thing we can do is wait and pray...anc check the status page 24/7, and then harass the mailman when that day comes. I hope it comes soon.
 
is it just me or do these days seem to fly by? Everyday, before I know it, its already 6pm and the adcoms have most likely gone home for the day.

Absolutely. But when that change of status comes, those days will be very very slow until you can go home and check the mailbox.
 
You've got to be kidding. Looks like yet another week. This just seems a little inconsiderate, among other things.

omygod that's ridiculous! i wish they would've told us mid-march to begin with, cuz the worst part of this all was thinking all along it was supposed to come on 1/15! i'm sorry to be a downer, people, but wow this is kinda sad..🙁

ucla has officially become a non-rolling school. yes!
 
I just called the admissions office, and, when I asked when letters would be sent out, the woman who answered the phone sighed and said, "The end of February?" with a little bit of a question in her voice, as if she were not 100%sure, yet hopeful. But at least that is better than mid March.
 
wow. i really dont like to badmouth UCLA since theyre my dream school and alma mater... but this is seriously bordering straight up ridiculous and inconsiderate. my whole family is waiting on this decision. arrghhhh

I can attest to the "still giving out interview invites" truth. I just got my letter from them, and my status page changed 2/14 (the letter arrived 2/17). They have a fantastic match list - was just checking it out. I'd love to stay in California- keep my Spanish fluent and work with a diverse population. They didn't say I was interviewing for a waitlist spot, so I hope that's a good sign. Cheers, and don't give up! 👍

I would like to revive this thread but chances are UCLA still won't send us anything since they are obviously too busy to let us know.

Its amazing that this thread has had over 10,000 views...SDN is crazy like that, you type something and hundreds read what you have posted...Anyways, thats 10,000 views to get to the end of the thread and see that no one has heard yet! I wonder how many times ppl have looked at their UCLA status page since august/september...probably in the thousands...
 
How about we all do a DOS attack on UCLA's status page? On March first everyone check your status at exactly 8AM. LOL JK

That brokeback to the future is pretty funny. BTTF was my favorite movie growing up. I still wish I had a DaLorean... They're only selling for around 20g's.

haha seriously. i can just imagine applicants next year looking back at our thread and clicking page after page after page trying to get to the part when decisions start coming. so sad.

Maybe i'll edit one of my old posts from the first page to link them directly to the 15th page or something.
 
hah, yea, i know we're all starting to get pissed, but...

i feel like i gotta say something for the UCLA admissions people, at least the ones in the office. they really helped me a lot on the day of my interview, because i actually got in a major accident the day before, driving down to LA (it was my stupid fault, i fell asleep at the wheel, the car overturned three times and i almost killed me and my mom...*shudder*)...anyways we went and rented a car a half hour after getting stiched up, and drove the rest of the way...

but i needed to get the car back to coalinga (where i had the accident, about halfway between SF and LA) by five the next day (the day of the interview)...so i called the lady at the office early that morning and she went and asked a zillion different doctors if they'd be willing to interview me in the morning and on the spot (normally they don't)...anyways, she found someone and then did all she could to help me get in and out of there ASAP...

so anyways lets cut them some slack, i suppose...i don't wanna think anything negative about UCLA, anyway...and won't this all be something great to laugh about WHEN we all get in? 🙄

Hmmm...I know regular MD acceptances are s-mailed. Since the MSTP committee does our decisions regardless of whether we get in MD-only or MSTP tho, our notification will probably be different.

Ready for some wet-hot UCSD MSTP action tonight?
 
Going through the website and noticed that the ACCEPTED portion is all old, and not update for us yet (still for Class of 2009).

BUT, I did see that this was update earlier this month (2/3/06):

Actually, UCLA's slow response is all a plot by me to get this thread to 13 pages before we hear anything ...
 
so why exactly is there a postponement on the notifications being mailed out? Has the adcom not even met once yet?!

Nope, the adcoms meet pretty frequently (it's not a single admissions committee ... several sub-committees). I have no idea why the school is lagging this year. It's ridiculous. Gosh, this thread is going to explode when the first decisions come out. :laugh:

Yea you are right it will. With 3 sub-comms though you think at least one chair would be on their game. It would seem even student government is more efficient than UCLA admissions.

as for the rest of this thread, man, all i can say is: I wish I knew how to quit you! Seriously. Every time this thread get updated, i'm on the edge of my seat, thinking, omg, someone got a status change! And everytime, it's a dud. UCLA, I swear...

I'm stoked too! I'm just also sick and really tired. Have a full 8hr at the clinic tomorrow and then have to drive to Napa in my truck that needs a new starter to have dinner with (fortunately cool) relatives from Maryland.
