i just got my rejection letter (which needs to be downloaded) from USC just now. they mustve known that im a bruin at heart.

Hey guys/gals...I have been reading this thread for some time...I have been checking my status page compulsively as well and each time I called I was told that decisions can take up to 8 weeks after the interview to be sent out. This is of course different from what one of the other posters was told (i.e. there is no timing on when decisions are sent out)...

Any case...mid-February is here...good luck everyone 🙂

Definitely don't give up. I'm certain that they're still giving out interview invites, but I must say that according to my friend who applied last year, interviews that were offered for late February were for waitlist spots only (my friend was notified of this when the interview was offered). According to this thread, they're running behind schedule this year, so don't give up hope yet!

are all of you guys in-state or out of state? I am out of state which means my chances for an interview and acceptance is probably somewhere between 0.00000005%-0.0000001%. Isn't true that being a Calif resident gives you a huge advantage when applying to UCLA? something like only 10% of the class is out of state.

Yeah, I think the MSAR tells you that around 10% come from out of state, which is a definite disadvantage. Not sure about the applied/accepted ratio and if they are similar to instate, Im guessing its lower.


Also, when I think of Boris, I think of invincible Boris in GoldenEye. Its a weird but cool combination, red hot cheetos and nintendo64.

As for calling UCLA Geffen SOM, I definitely have the urge, but I know that it will do absolutely nothing and possibly make someone in the admissions office angry. I think it might slow them down even. They will not give your/my decision over the phone, and we have to wait for it in the mail. The only thing we can do is wait and pray...anc check the status page 24/7, and then harass the mailman when that day comes. I hope it comes soon.

Absolutely. But when that change of status comes, those days will be very very slow until you can go home and check the mailbox.

I just called the admissions office, and, when I asked when letters would be sent out, the woman who answered the phone sighed and said, "The end of February?" with a little bit of a question in her voice, as if she were not 100%sure, yet hopeful. But at least that is better than mid March.

hah, yea, i know we're all starting to get pissed, but...

i feel like i gotta say something for the UCLA admissions people, at least the ones in the office. they really helped me a lot on the day of my interview, because i actually got in a major accident the day before, driving down to LA (it was my stupid fault, i fell asleep at the wheel, the car overturned three times and i almost killed me and my mom...*shudder*)...anyways we went and rented a car a half hour after getting stiched up, and drove the rest of the way...

but i needed to get the car back to coalinga (where i had the accident, about halfway between SF and LA) by five the next day (the day of the interview)...so i called the lady at the office early that morning and she went and asked a zillion different doctors if they'd be willing to interview me in the morning and on the spot (normally they don't)...anyways, she found someone and then did all she could to help me get in and out of there ASAP...

so anyways lets cut them some slack, i suppose...i don't wanna think anything negative about UCLA, anyway...and won't this all be something great to laugh about WHEN we all get in? 🙄

Hello, I interviewed 11/10/05 and have been waiting patiently for 1/15/06 (the date the UCLA SOM website says applicants will be notified of acceptance) to come. Unfortunately, this is a Sunday, and I have a feeling acceptances won't come until the 17th! Does anyone know whether acceptances are snail mailed, e-mailed, or phone called?

Hmmm...I know regular MD acceptances are s-mailed. Since the MSTP committee does our decisions regardless of whether we get in MD-only or MSTP tho, our notification will probably be different.

Nope, the adcoms meet pretty frequently (it's not a single admissions committee ... several sub-committees). I have no idea why the school is lagging this year. It's ridiculous. Gosh, this thread is going to explode when the first decisions come out.

Yea you are right it will. With 3 sub-comms though you think at least one chair would be on their game. It would seem even student government is more efficient than UCLA admissions.

I'm stoked too! I'm just also sick and really tired. Have a full 8hr at the clinic tomorrow and then have to drive to Napa in my truck that needs a new starter to have dinner with (fortunately cool) relatives from Maryland.
