Have heart. Although sadly no change here, I believe that these are acceptances. Assume that the admissions office doesn't want to be bothered so much, so they give a little later date in case the acceptances don't happen as soon as they think. That way they are covered. Good luck to all!!!!

Someone put a knife through my heart (or any other method) to stop it beating too fast...for two days or so...

My letter is sent on 3/3/2006 as well, I interviewed 1/19/2006...

From last year's experience, did 2nd batch contain most acceptances?

The 1st batch did contain a few rejections...so hopefully it won't happen for the 2nd batch. DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD IDEA/GUESS if this 2nd batch may contain all good letters? Any insiders from current UCLA med students?

My interview went fine...it's not the greatest I could do but I got my points across and everything...So let's keep fingers crossed and for sure this won't be a peaceful weekend for me!

UCLA is my 1st choice.

I have two hypotheses:

1) All acceptances, b/c UCLA's juggling a lot of things and a bit behind schedule. Not much time left before 2nd look weekend, so they prioritize to notify accepted students first.

2) Mixed decisions, b/c UCLA is on top of things. They've got all our (everyone who interviewed up to a certain date) fates sealed in those envelopes, and it's a matter of sending all the decisions out. The first batch was for last names A-L, and the second batch is for M-Z.

Which is more likely, I wish I knew...

As for choice 2, got my decision in 1st batch and my last name starts with P. I have a theory that everyone who posts here will get in, but thats just a thought.

😀 😀 😀 :luck: :luck: :luck: 😀 😀 😀

Oooh, that gives us hope. Thanks boris!! 😍

I believe if it's a mixed decision, more people should have shown a decision letter sent around 3/3/2006 because if UCLA is on top of things, they won't just select a small sample of rejection letters to send so maybe more people will be in this 2nd round??? (With either more or fewer people receiving a notice of a letter sent, it's still confusing to interpret!)

So go check your status NOW! And see if really we have more people into this discussion...

Anyone has a decision letter sent BEFORE 3/3/2006? Are we truly in a 2nd batch?

Let this thread explode...again =)

Well, my 3rd hypothesis is that they already have all the decision letters ready. And to decide which ones to send out, they set up a massive dartboard, attach each of our letters to a pointy dart, and throw darts at happy hour on Thursday night. So... when you get your letter depends on where you landed in relation to the bullseye. Darts that land in first concentric circle goes in the first batch, etc. lol 😛

PS - My status changed too, so I'm likely to post fervertly in the next several days. I'm mentally prepared for any decision and at this point, I'm just glad that I'll know in a few days where I will be in the next four years.

:luck: :luck: :luck:

Am I the only person whose status hasn't changed!

Have any waitlist letters been sent out? Just curious...

Hey guys, I have been reading your thread for a long time and I know what you are all going through. UCLA is also my 1st choice and I can't wait for their decision. My interview was on 2/6 and I just checked my status page and thre was no decision as of yet. This makes me think that there were no rejections sent this time (mine most likely will be a rejection as my interview did not go well).

Hey uclastudent, do you have any idea of whether UCLA does waitlists at this time? I think we're all curious and want to narrow down the 3 possible outcomes to the more definitive 2.

Oh, the silly questions we ask when we're nervous! (I, for one, am definitely drinking tonight!) 😀

I have been reading this thread with much anticipation to see how you all fare. I know you are all questioning what is in the batches of letters sent on each date to have a sort of clue as to what might be in your letter. Well, you have come to the right place. Of course people at SDN have the answer to this. Let me divulge... if your status change date is an even-numbered day and you wear an even-numbered shoe size, then it is an acceptance for sure. Likewise, an odd-numbered day and and odd-numbered shoesize is an acceptance. If, however, your shoe size doesn't match with the date of the letter, well, that would be a waitlist or rejection. I am sorry i have no way of telling you if it is a WL or rejection for sure. Perhaps someone else out there can clarify for you. Good luck all!!! :luck:

This is just a theory: I am not a 100% convinced that rejections were sent out the first round...(uclahope, a one time poster from what I remember, and Faust whom didn't have any history on SDN about an interview)...Uclahope was suicidal, and Faust went to go drink a 40 (this is what they posted)...

Last year it was a mixed batch for sure (definitely acceptances!!!)

According to SDN, no waitlists have gone out in the first batch.

Good luck everyone! 👍 :luck:

Elastase, and everyone: so do you have a guess about this 2nd batch? What's your opinion about the ultimate question: all accepted vs. mixed (and what ratio)?

I am down with what DrBorisCA thought. Good luck!!! I'm looking forward to Monday afternoon/evening.

curious: any idea what the gap between interview invitation and first available interview has typically been? Thank you

I've heard of as tight as 2 days out, but this late in the season I'd guess anywhere from 1-3 weeks.

Why don't you just call them and ask? Good luck!

yeah that happened to me. The day after I sent the interiview form back, carrol called me and asked if i can come in the "day after tomorrow." It was pretty nerve-wrecking as I barely had time to prepare and it was only my second interview of the season. I think it turned out fine in the end though. but we'll see about that on monday. haha.

Dr. Hill Theory - cHocoBo 118 and I (both from 2nd batch, letters awaiting) briefly PM'ed, and we found out that we both have Dr. Hill as the interviewer!! I wonder if anyone from the first batch had Dr. Hill?? If not, that may be a good sign because finally some Hill's interviewees may get accepted!

Hi medworm. 🙂 I can't say for sure what's in this batch, but I do know that people had been waitlisted by this time last year. My gut feeling is that this batch will contain acceptances. The second batch last year was all acceptances. However, we all know that UCLA is being a little weird this year, so who knows.

I think as the various subcommittees finish up, they send out the batches. Dr. Hill's subcommittee must have come to some final decisions. Hence, the timing.

how do you all know which sub-committee does what and when? wow.

uclastudent, the silly Qs I ask as I await the countdown! guess I'll find out in 48 hrs!

good luck everyone!! may the force be with you!!! 🙂 :luck:

Hi, I'm new to the forums but thought I would finally add my two cents.

I had a status change on 3/3 and interviewed with Dr. Marjorie Fine on 12/15. I would like to hope that the second batch includes acceptances although I must say that I thought my UCLA interview was one of my worst ones. I live in orange county, so I should get the letter early this week and I'll update then. Best of luck to everyone 🙂

Well, as people will probably find out about acceptances tomorrow, my UCLA Class of 2010 thread got moved to Forums -> Allopathic -> Class Threads -> UCLA c/o 2010... So Post!!!

btw.. my 100th post! I need to find a new hobby....

I'll be posting for sure there tomorrow assuming I get good news. T -1 day to go.... Im so glad tomorrow is the last day I have to worry about this hellish process, good news or bad, it's my last school. It reminds me of shawshank redemption where andy climbed through miles of **** filled sewer tubes.

Good luck tomorrow everyone!!! 👍 :luck:

Good luck everyone! I am actually going to call the admissions office later today to see if there's any hint/info about this batch...

Not to sound ignorant, but what are the UCLA admissions subcommittees that some posts keep mentioning?

Good luck lovies! I'm cheering for you. :luck: :luck:

At least you've interviewed...

My interview at UCLA was scheduled for April 25th 😱 so I'm going to try see if anyone canceled this week.

:luck: :luck: good luck guys! i hope it's all acceptances this time. in fact, i hope the "all acceptances" pattern extends to my batch when it comes around 😛

😱 Blah! So nervous...although I probably shouldn't be because I'm on the east coast and I doubt the letter will make it here today. Good luck to all of those who WILL hear today! :luck:

Bad News: I just called the admissions office, and the lady told me that all kinds of batches were sent out last Friday, and I asked "what do you mean all kinds of batches...?" She said, "Rejects, waitlist, and acceptances..."

So supposedly there will be a lot of SDNers receiving a letter sent 3/3/2006...I can't think of a good reason why they would just select a small number of people to just reject...or waitlist...more anxiety, definitely...I wish I hadn't called... :scared:

Do you think this is the results of a subcommittee?
Again, what are these subcommittees?
Thanks

I think the subcommittees are groups of interviewers/admissions people that meet (and does not included every admissions persons) about different sets of applicants to discuss what to do with them (accept/rank, reject). It depends on who you interviewed with to determine which subcommittee you were in, which would determine if your decision has been made. For example, maybe the first batch was only from a couple of subcommittees that already reviewed their applicants before the others subcommittees had a chance to meet. I hope that made sense, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Regardless of the outcome, I'm just glad that the wait will be over soon (knock on wood if I get waitlisted... ).

:luck: :luck: everyone.

From how it was described to me by Dr. Fulco at my interview there are 3 subcommittees. They rank and interview applicants separately. Who you are assigned to interview with determines the committee you are analyzed by. Dr. Fulco is the chair of his committee, thus I would be reviewed by his subcommittee. How the logistics get sorted out at the end about number of total acceptances and rejections etc is beyond what I was told.

I live in San Diego and had a status change on 3/3. I will probably know today. Nervous and apprehensive are the words of the day.

Does anyone know who chairs the disadvantaged applicant committee?

I also applied as a disadvantaged applicant and my interviewer was Dr. Isabel Jones, did anyone else have her?

I've decided to stay off of SDN for the next few days...
good luck everyone!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Well, I didn't receive the letter here on the east coast today - I'll still hold out hope for tomorrow. :luck:

Uh oh.. not to scare anyone but there is another post about status page changes w/o the interview that are most likely rejections.. which makes me wonder if this batch has a lot of rejections in general.. murr.. I knew I should have stayed off this site!

PS - Bay area.. heard nothing today

so although i called the admin office early this morning, i decide to stop by in person (seeing as how I work in CHS) hoping to get more info.

anyway...the lady i spoke with said that decisions would be going out all this month

now i haven't had my status page change yet, so we'll see

just wanted to share

Downtown LA.... Nada...Crossing fingers for tomorrow. How long does it take a letter to go from westwood to downtown lol? They could have called me and I gladly would have driven over to pick it up. 😎

reject letters arrived saturday in LA ... FUCLA

pre- or post-interview? sorry about the news.

so i was thinking about this and if they really did mail the letters out on friday, I should have gotten it today. Which made me think that they prolly didnt actually get to mailing it out on friday. Considering they don't work on saturdays im assuming, that leaves today. Which MEANS i prolly wont get it til WED earliest then. blaaaaah. maybe im thinking too much.
