Are you posting this at someone else's request or advertising it as some remote way of determining whether or not you've been accepted before receiving the letter? (please say it's the latter  )

I was thinking the same thing. But I have yet to figure out its enigmatic code. And furthermore, if those accepted are already in the system, I am not. And now I'm really scared. Quickly pinkie, explain yourself.

I tried the FA link, and it didn't work for me. *sigh* 🙁

If you know ucla has made a status change in final decision box, is this a way to find out if you got in? Hmmm?? Can anybody try this?

That was my idea, but I can't log in either 😱

I was accepted and I still can't get into it. Sorry, nice try though!

This is not encouraging.

haha, me neither. Darn you, UCLA! I hope I get my letter today! Ugh, I feel like my brain will soon explode... anyone else feel that way?

Yesssss! So much emotion packed into a 120 second long period. THe ups and downs... jeeze.

seriously.... hope, then crash, then hope again or something like that

i think the question remains: "why postal mail?!"

I have been watching this thread because I am interviewing at UCLA in a week or so. Anyone else out there doing that? Since they sent out a large batch of acceptance, are the odds that I am I pretty much interviewing for the waitlist at this point?

Or on the status page why not next to letter sent -- have an A, W, or R

UCLA has been totally unfair in handling the situation. They love to see you guys in pain in waiting. It is totally unnecessary.... Good luck to those still in pain... I mean in waiting. I wonder, why can't they learn from UCSF just sending out the letter in mail instead 😕

I think that if you're interviewing for a waitlist spot, they specifically make mention of it in the invite letter. Good luck.

I interviewed Oct 21, its been a long while thats for sure.... probably just going to get longer.

If I'm waiting specifically for an admittance letter, will they make note of that as well? Because I feel like they should.

Sorry to hear that. At least you knew it was coming. The good news is you still have a shot, you just need to wait a little longer.

waitlisted 🙁 o well

sorry about that. I feel your pain.

For those of you waitlisted, come join the new thread where we can discuss what our next steps are to EVENTUALLY get into this school we oh-so-love.

UCLA Waitlist (2006 ed.)

So what do you think, guys? All of the letters from 3/3 were indeed waitlists?

Status change 3/3, no letter today in southern Nevada. Grrr.

Sigh, I hope someone from the 3/3 batch gets an acceptance!

I'm also 3/3 just got my letter.. waitlisted

What do you think they'll say if I walk down there and try and get a hint right now? Can't hurt.

Hmm...I don't think it could hurt you now. After all, you're letter is supposedly already in the mail and on its way. I think I'm going to call and see if I can get a confirmation that it was indeed a mixed batch (seeing as it was mentioned before that this was the case).

So I decided to bite the bullet and go home to check my mail on my lunch break. But the cruelty continues because of course today my mail did not get their before 2:00pm. Yesterday I scrambled home between my two jobs to check my mail and nothing. I guess I will have to continue waiting until ten o'clock tonight. And based on the way the 3/3 batch is going it may be longer than that.

i called ucla (really for no reason) and they said that ALL decisions would be made by end of this month...(possibly early april)

Hello, I interviewed 11/10/05 and have been waiting patiently for 1/15/06 (the date the UCLA SOM website says applicants will be notified of acceptance) to come. Unfortunately, this is a Sunday, and I have a feeling acceptances won't come until the 17th! Does anyone know whether acceptances are snail mailed, e-mailed, or phone called?

Thanks!

I wonder who Jaja1 is, must be an alias of someone in this thread? Someone who uses !!! more than required.

Ooo, if you indeed call, please let us know!

If you call, can you ask about the waitlists? Is there a high-priority list and a hold/**** list? Want to get some sense of where my position on the waitlist is. (Haven't received my 3/3 letter yet, but I guess I'm expecting a WL too.)

🙁

3/3...waitlisted, so long UCLA, UCSF here I come!!

So how does this work? Ucla interviews around 600, right?

They have to over accept, lets say 200 or so.

And do they waitlist like 200 or so?

So they reject like a third post interview.

Anybody???

I think for a class of 120 spots, they probably now send out 150 acceptances, waitlist another 100 or so...because evenutally they only need to send out ~200 acceptances to fill all spots (According to US news, if I remember correctly)

UCLA is very popular so they will control the # tight...I don't even want to think what a waitlist spot may mean for this. But they start school early in August, the wait won't be too terribly painful...but my best acceptance offer/school starts in early september and I am trying to get a summer job now! (Seems won't happen with UCLA uncertainty...+ a NYU waitlist)...maybe I should just take a summer off and relax...and calling med schools all day or something...

Bad news. 3/7 is bad. We're 'hold.' ie low-priority waitlist. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Maybe your letters will be different. I'm done with this thread. On to the columbia waitlist...

source?

thx

does that mean next batch = rejections? 😕 :scared:

it's sure starting to look that way

3/3, waitlisted w/o rank. I guess there's still hope.

Good luck everyone! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Since I am not likely to ever receive an acceptance (much less a waitlist--ranked or otherwise) can someone please post the first paragraph of each one? I just want to know sort of what they sound like....

I'll be sure to let you in on the rejection letter... 😡

Dear Good-Looking,

Your application to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is complete and has been acted upon.

The committee on Admissions considers you to be a qualified candidate for medical school. We have thus assigned you to a waiting list without ranking. Candidates from the waiting list may be selected for vacancies in the class if they become available.

In order that all the students receive consideration, it is important that you inform us, in writing, at your earliest convenience if you wish to accept a position on the waiting list. For the same reason, it would be most helpful if at a later date you wish to withdraw from the waiting list you would notify us of your decision. Please keep us up to date by submitting any additional credentials which might be important for your record.

Thank you very much for your continued interest in our medical school.

Sincereley,

Neil H. Parker, M.D.

You're on your way to solving the first 3 letters of that code.

j/k

😛 😀 😉

well, i knew before i opened my letter what it was going to say, but here's my confirmation: waitlisted w/o rank. does anyone know what that means? is there a ranked waitlist, and is it better? and is "hold" different (and worse) than "waitlist"?

i guess if they do only waitlist 100 people, and accept 200 or so, our chances can't be that bad...
