there are two dates corresponding to 2 possible dates that we updated to the system on Friday afternoon.

people with 4/28 dates next to letter sent - anecdotal evidence suggests there are holds in this group. maybe waitlists/rejections too

people with 4/29 dates- ?????

which are you?

I was looking through your previous postings and you say on another thread that you got a UCLA waitlist with a 25 MCAT. ???? and now you're getting another final decision letter after that original waitlist letter ... and all this before may 15????

uhm...i wonder 2...i thought she was waitlisted at UCLA from the other thread !!! 😕

No, I called and explained to them that there is a mailing problem between UCLA and my house and the lady told me that I was put on the acceptable pool. It was back in mid-april

and a 25 MCAT??? I didnt think UCLA even gave secondaries to people with MCATS 26 and lower.

you just can't tell what the adcom look for Long_john....MCAT is not everything....since the avergar MCAT is 29..which means there must be pple under that score to even out with those in the top 30. my 2 cents

5/2/05

Low MCAT does not mean that one cannot be competitive. With other parts of the application being really good, one can go very far. My boyfriend got interview at Harvard and acceptances into UCSD, UCSF and Buffalo NY with a MCAT 24

So don't hate

fine. you must have a pretty outstanding application outside of MCAT then.

does that mean you had status changed once in Mid april for waitlist and this is the second status changed ? or you called them and explained so they re-send your letter. I'm confused! 😕

That is what the lady said. I am also on the acceptable pool in UCSD (Got the letter though) and that is their waitlist. I thought the same was with UCLA - is it not?
 
i think you may have been pulled off the waitlist. no rule stating waitlist movement has to begin > may 15. gl to you and everyone waiting.

I never got any other letter from UCLA, except the interview invite and confirmation ones.

So you have not received your waitlist letter at UCLA yet ?....

I don't know - i am so nervous because this is my THE TOP choice and I was actually writing a loi to them

according to the last 2 years' threads...just one or 2 ppl from SDN got pulled off the waitlist in late May but I've never seen anyone got pulled off b4 May 15th...it may be different this year though!

let us know if it's good new for you!

Do you think I can call them? According to what i read here they don't give out information on the phone but hey, they did for me.

trying can't hurt. They do give out info on the phone sometimes. depends which secretary you get.

Wow, so there are 3 "batches" of letters being sent out. Good luck, everybody! I hope you guys hear some good news!
 
just a quick question....if you are on the waitlist..can you still reapply ? would the med school look at you and say hey...she's reapplying...i'll consider her for next year then and rejected me from the waitlist ???
 
I got in - Buffalo New York !!!!! First acceptance !!! not studying for MCAT this summer yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

yeah, i interviewed in march. really don't understand whats happening behind the scenes, but wish i can gain more definitive info from them so I can move on.

I called this morning. I got shot down. She wouldnt tell me squat and I hadnt even given her my AMCAS id yet.
Why do you think the 5/2 batch is acceptances?

i don't know...it just likes in April...4/5 is a mixed batch of alternate list/hold list and 4/15 is acceptance. For this time, 4/28 is hold...4/29 might be waitlist or straight acceptance and 5/2 might be acceptance. But...nothing is guaranteed until you hold the letter in your hand 🙂 Or i could be wrong becuz 4/29 is a friday and the admission office is not done uploading everything so they just continue on May 2nd.

you have any thought? usually you are the one with all the prediction ...

Long_John, I am not sure why but I am thinking you are a student at UCLA? Would you have better luck if you go in in person to ask? (Are you a student there? Why am I thinking this? Maybe it is because you seem to know the most about it. Then again, shouldn't some of those letters be showing up in mailboxes today!)

this time I am kind of stumped. I was starting to think the dates of this batch didnt mean anything, but now I dont know. If they were loading these updates in alphabetical order (what other ordering system could they be employing), these updates should have been done on Friday because my status page was loaded and my last name starts towards the end of the alphabet. The fact that they didnt finish on Friday suggests to me they are using some other ordering system (maybe according to decision or just randomly) in updating these status pages and sending out letters. So this time I'm stumped.
here's what we have been able to gather so far
4/28 - at least there are some holds in this one
4/29 - at least 3 SDNers are in this batch. Seems like too many people for this to be a pure accept batch at this late point in the application season.
5/2 - ?

I was a student at UCLA. I graduated already. Yea, these letters should be showing up today. hopefully. which batch were you in?

I am not in any batch 😡 but have been following this thread and rooting for you for a while! Where else have you been accepted? Where else are you hoping for?

for my 4/5 batch, i think there were so many of us getting on hold or on the alternate list...that's why the office took 3 days to upload every status page...that's why we didn't see anything updated until Thur 4/7 even though the date said 4/5. From this incident, it made me think that if the dates were different, then it might be different batch for each date....my wild guess though....please don't quote me on this 🙂

nope. it didnt come today.
getting a feeling that the 4/29 batch isn't going to be good news. can't explain it, its just a gut feeling.
just hoping for a waitlist here.

Just thought Id join the party and share some info. I interviewed the end of March and have not heard anything. 🙂
