do they have to change our status by may 15th? or can they keep us simply on post-interview hold until whenever the planets line up and the forces allign...
 
I don't think they have to change our status by May 15th. I think they can do as they please. Anyone who recently interviewed know anything more? Or want to call?

I called last week and the lady on the phone told me to expect a status change within two weeks. Waiting sucks...I just want to know if I'm in, if I have to wait longer on a waitlist, or if I'm out...I had no idea that medical schools were so inefficient at dealing with applicants.
 
lol. Yes medical schools on a whole are not all too efficient in this process; however, it appears that UCLA is one of the slowest schools out there....

anyway, my simple Q and A with the lady on the other line

L (for Lady): hello, UCLA medical school...
D (for Dasacohen): hi! how are you doing today?
L: well...(chuckle)...I'm good, and yourself?
D: Great. I was just wondering about a couple of things...is the class full by now?
L: no. (silence)
D: well good! I interviewed in March, and I was wondering when or if I could expect a status change?
L: sometime in the next three weeks.
D: could there be a status change after May 15th?
L: yes, but that would be unlikely. We'd like to notify our applicants within three weeks of today.
D: and the batches of decisions that go out...these are mixed batches?
A: Yes, there will be holds, waitlists, and acceptances all in the same batch.

Lol, so it went from two weeks since I called to five weeks after my call...Thanks a lot for calling!

i have a feeling if i call two weeks from now they'll say "we hope to have everything out in three weeks"...you just watch!

kbear you have good karma and deserve some good luck, which I am sure will happen. You are always upbeat and have a great attitude, optimistic and encouraging others. One of these wonderful schools will accept you and you will be a great classmate and a fine doctor.
 
thanks for the kind words, searun! this process has been more stressful and involved more waiting than I ever imagined... but I know there is a light at the end of the road. And we will be living our dream of practicing medicine in a few years and that's what keeps us goin!
 
Morning, everyone.

According to dasacohen's most recent phone call to the admissions office, two weeks to go. I got waitlisted at Baylor, so UCLA is the last school I need to hear back from...Any other news?
 
nothing new to report... just hoping to hear something soon. hang in there everyone!!

side note: anyone care to report back on how the 2nd look went? And how many people attended??
 
The second look weekend was awesome. I got to meet a bunch of very cool people and the food was great!!! The faculty and staff were all really nice and helpful. If I have to take a guess, I think about 90-100 people were there but that's including people from DREW and UCR programs as well.

That is correct mortal...2-ish weeks to go....maybe.

I was in LA this past weekend--such great weather! Not to say that berkeley is too bad right now, but I'd take LA over the bay any day.

Best of luck this week. Too bad the thread is slipping because UCLA hasn't done anything in a bit (probably bc of second look weekend planning)
 
Looks like my status changed today(?) to say letter sent 4/23. Anyone else have a status change??

I am definitely expecting the worst and I had a horrific interview, but I am just happy to have the status change and to be one step closer to finishing up this process. I'll try to post when I get the letter. Good Luck ya'll!!
 
I interviewed March 22 and the decision letter was sent yesterday the 23rd. :scared:

I interviewed late Feb. I'm assuming this is a batch of mixed decisions, so g'luck everyone! Mortal, dasacohen.... where are you, buddies? did you have a status change as well?

question - did anyone not send in their official transcripts until after receiving a decision letter (my transcripts are not in yet and I am worried they are holding off on reviewing me until they are in, which would be a death sentence, at this point)

I know for a fact that they don't send out decisions until your transcripts are in...however I believe that they will still review your application and make a decision, they just won't let you know what that decision is until your transcripts are in.
 
They received my last transcript 4/16. I am not sure if they were holding my app. I asked if all my transcripts had to be received before the interview and the lady said no. She made it seem like just a formality. They have all your grades from AMCAS so I hope they wouldn't hold just to recheck them.

mike, don't freak out. 4 weeks is a super fast turnaround and I don't think that's normal even though it's late in the year. I'm sure it takes some time for the adcom to even receive the interview evaluation. but, I do think you should call the office about your transcripts. Is that line on your status page still say requested and not received? I think you should send them asap.
 
Hmm i dont think that they need your transcript in before making their decision. They have your grades from the AMCAS application. The lady told me that they just want the transcripts in before you start med school because they want to make sure you finish all the pre-req.

I interviewed on~ March 20th, my status says "letter sent 4/23" ....so scared, prob either rej. or waitlist, who knows. Anyone else get a status change for 4/23???

I interviewed on March 12th..and I got my status change today..Im praying for the best..Good Luck everyone:luck:

Anyone know if there's any way to find out if you got in after the status change but before getting the actual letter?

If you attend UCLA for undergrade you should have a new icon on your URSA page.

I was wondering if one could access the accepted student checklist before they got the letter http://www.medstudent.ucla.edu/accepted/

Just a thought.

yeah, i was wondering if the office would be receptive to a phone call since it is so late in the season. doubtful, but maybe a brave soul wants to try?
 
when i called to ask about the transcript thing, the lady in admissions said she couldnt even tell me if i had been reviewed or not, let alone tell me the result... 🙁

it was worth a shot... any one else want to try?

When I try to access the checklist, it sends me to the login page and then back to the status page (so I can't access the checklist). I guess I know what that means.

Was anyone who recently got a status change able to access the checklist?

Maybe that's the answer:
If you can access the checklist, you're in.
If you can't, you're not.

Hey, I interviewed first week of March...still no status change and my transcripts were in mid February!

Anyone else no status change yet besides mikeinsd and mortallessons and me?
 
I interviewed WAY back in October and still haven't had a status change. This wait is killing me!!!
 
I called this afternoon and found out that lack of transcripts will not hold them back from sending us the outcome status. then the lady put me on hold to look up my info (i interviewed in december)...she came back saying that she asked the director, who responded that my status will be sent in mid-may. i can't help but feel this is a low waitlist or rejection. boo.
 
wow hcbr, that is ridiculous!!! ....so for those that haven't heard, does that mean we won't hear until mid may according to silver....

Hm, I dont think this is true. This happened to me as well ( I just did it like 10 mins ago). And I got accepted long time ago so yeah, just wait till the mail comes. GOOD LUCK.
