That's helpful. I wonder if they'll send out more decisions Friday. That might be too much to hope for.

But I thought they had different sub-committees? And that not all of them had even met. So, now im really confused. They really need to get going! :luck:

I totally agree! What my interviewer explained to me was that after your interview, your application goes through two committees. She said that the first committee your interviewer is part of (or is present while they discuss your app, I don't really know which). After this committee meets and talks about you, then you go to the second committee. This committee doesn't have your interviewer on it and I think they're the ones that make the accept/decline/waitlist decisions. This is how I understood what my interviewer told me, but, I don't go to UCLA or have any insider info, so I could've misunderstood. Hope this helps.

For people that go to UCLA or know people that are med students there, does this sound right?

Anyhoo, good luck everybody! :luck:

hey guys...i guess i'm in a different situation than most of you...but does anyone know if UCLA's done sending out interview invites?
Still haven't heard a peep since I was complete in mid-Sept.
Thanks and best of luck!

Hey guys. I can't seem to find the phone number or email address for the admissions committee. Can anyone here pass it on to me?! I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Well one of my friends just got an invite at the end of last week, so i would assume they are still coming out.

I'm sure you meant admissions office, and I say that because I would LOVE the number of the admissions committee conference room. Just imagine...

Dream 1:
The admissions committee meeting, me calling, and then, on speaker phone, them telling me I got accepted! Then I'd scream and be happy and they would feel like they are great people. Just like the movies.

Nightmare:
Me getting all their office numbers or cells and being a stalker. I doubt that would work in my favor, hence a nightmare. Perhaps for some this would be the golden ticket.

WOW can you tell I want to hear good news already? (and not bad news of course)

so a ucla med student just posted in another forum that only one committee meets to discuss your app. i dont who to believe.

That's the problem, too much conflicting information...and still no real news.

I just got one this week, so they still are sending them out. Try writing to them. Good luck.

adcom better be meeting right now...

they should miss lunch to finish up more applicants

Has anybody recently called and asked when the second batch is going to be sent out?!?

Has anybody recently called and asked when the second batch is going to be sent out?!?

I called but they were very vague. I directly asked when the next batch was going out. The guy said "Admissions is on a rolling basis and they will be going out periodically now through April". When he took my AMCAS Id he said I was still "out to committee" and should hear in 2-3 weeks. My guess is that the next meeting is in 1-2 weeks. Might as well be non-rolling.

They said this today? I ask because they told me 2-3 weeks when I called two weeks ago 🙁. Erg. I hate the vagueness.

I heard that last year they didn't even offer enough acceptances to fill up the class by March 15.

I actually called yesterday.

Don't they get fined or something for doing that?

You know-I love UCLA. But, this whole cryptic admissions process is starting to really get me down. I just don't understand why this is taking so long and why they can't just let us know HOW IT WORKS!

no status change for me. 🙄🙄🙄

For anyone wondering, welcome week for UCLA this year will be on the weekend of April 19th.

Does anyone know if UCLA prefers email or snail mail for LOI's?

To be safe, I would send it both ways. I think it's easier for them to receive it snail mail, because they can just put the letter in your file; but, someone might skim over the email letter, find it very convincing, pull up your file, review it right then, and accept you:luck: Hey, it can happen~! Though the chances of you finding a four leaf clover would probably be better...

I sent a LOI pre-interview by email and hand-delivered one as well. A week later they called me to schedule an interview for the following week.

Raininspain, when did you interview at UCLA and when were you accepted?

buuuump-b/c this wait is driving me nuts...

is UCLA's status page down? it doesn't work for me....

is this a sign...?? 😱

Unfortunately the whole UCLA admissions website is down for routine maintenance. This is the message I got when I tried to get in there this morning....

thanks for the notice, Cowgirl. Hopefully they're updating it with some more status changes 😀

i think if it were down because they were updating the "decision sent" category, the rest of the medstudent website would still be online. we can hope though. anyone know if this happened before they updated the site last time?

No problem neurofreak! I'm with you hoping it means more changes are coming....or if not today, at least soon! Good luck!

the site's back up, but not change for me...I also doubt it had anything to do with our status.

It seems from last year that the second batch of decisions was sent on March 21 and 22, so I'm not getting my hopes up anymore until it's closer to then.

I really hope it doesn't follow the same trend it did last year. Both of those dates, March 21 and 22, had BAD news... I think one was rejections and holds and the other was waitlists.

I just got waitlisted at my #2. UCLA's my #1. I interviewed Feb 20ish. Should I send a letter of interest and if so when? I don't want it to get there when it will not affect decision-making. Most people have said UCLA's slow, but since I interviewed in Feb, March 21st (from the post directly above) is right around the corner.

I called today and they said expect decisions around March 15th.

OTOH, wouldn't it be sweet if we could all just trade our acceptances so that some of us could leach off you super stars

any clue as to what type of decisions they would be (acceptance, rejection, waitlist, hold)?

for all you guys who had interviews at UCLA, how long did it take for them to get back to you? I submitted my request last Thursday and I still haven't heard back even though I put I'm around the area and I would take the first available interview date.

Thanks

No type known yet. They said the committee had not met on my file so techincally it could be any decision, although I am not very optimistic at this point.
