damn if i had known that ucla was not gonna let late interviewees know until after may 15th, i wouldnt have even bothered interviewing there. i have enough of a difficult decision on my hands with the other schools ive been accepted at, and i obviously need to let them know by may 15th what im doing. it's annoying bc the admissions office never gives straight up answers. i remember asking them whether interviewing late would hurt my chances and they said no, not at all. maybe interviewing late doesnt accept your chances overall (meaning like in being accepted sometime in the summer), but it certainly hurts your chances of being accepted before may 15th.

If it's not worth the wait just withdraw your application... I certainly wouldn't mind. I had to wait four months for my decision, as did/do a lot of other people.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but if you wouldn't have even interviewed there I really think you should withdraw. There are LOTS of people who are desperate to get in, no matter when it is! Yes the wait is agony, but this is UCLA we're talking about. They can string me along as long as they want because I really want to go there. Give up your spot and give it to somebody who wants it more! : )

I think at this point, this means we won't be getting a decision anytime soon but that we could potentially be better off than people already on the waitlist since I assume our applications will be the first ones looked at when they look to fill the class after May 15th. Obviously, if they've only accepted 130 people up until this point, they'll need to accept at least 75-100 more eventually to fill the class.

Boo to you Big Red Premed, you are a big red meanie for pointing that out. 😛 I will, however, maintain hope for us on the waitlist. 😎

Considering they haven't sent out any rejections post-interview, how could it be better to not have heard anything than to be on the waiting list? Sorry if that's rude, but out of all the options (accept/wl/hold/rejection) a waitlist is not a bad place to be. I too am hopeful for us waitlisters!! Please don't bring us down. : )

Just a reminder: we are all lucky to just interview at UCLA! Go Us! ... that's my plug to be optimistic

hmmm....well I don't think they'd be sending anything bad until way after May 15th, so I think it sounds like good news!!

Anyone know why they make decisions on some people and hold other people's applications? I'm really hoping that bodes well for the people that are still waiting for a decision. Maybe this means that we'll get looked at before the people on the waitlist?

also, there were a lot of students who were on the fence about ucla and another school (mostly either ucsf, wash u, or hopkins from asking around). so i wouldn't be surprised if there was a little WL movement before may 15, and a crap ton of movement just after may 15.

thanks! it was really hard deciding, but after going to UCSF's second look, it just felt right. What everyone has said (including administration at both schools) is to go with your "heart"... the students at UCSF, both incoming and current, were very very happy and chill. and in the end, i like the city of SF better than LA....good luck to you, UCLA is awesome!

I called the admissions office.... told ....i forgot his name....the English guy that I interviewed 03/18. Before I could say more he said the letters will be mailed before May 15th.

darn...that really can't be good. i'm sure they're sick of us calling, but the fact that he just told you straight up suggests to me that the next batch is probably their last one. and it seems as if UCLA's been sending uniform batches this cycle....blah 😕

hopefully it will be a batch full of acceptances!

And then he guaranteed to me that I would hear something before May 15th. And then he told me where I should go to school if I didn't get into UCLA. He was quite talkative.

And then he guaranteed to me that I would hear something before May 15th. And then he told me where I should go to school if I didn't get into UCLA. He was quite talkative.

You must've had the same guy as me. Mine also went through each of my acceptances and gave me advice on which one I should choose

Which is, I think, not true because they obviously send letters in bunches and I doubt that all applications are decided upon the day before.
