The admissions committee will be meeting either next week or the week after to fill some of those spots but that might not be the last committe meeting. There might be another one after that." thanks for the info. my dad talked to bertolami and he said we will probably be hearing this week. i hope we hear this week good or bad. if they meet not this week but the next week this thread will be 10 pages long by then with people going "heard anything?...nope not yet" . good luck guys :luck: :luck:

Hey- I spoke to Ana for a while today- and she said that no decisions would be made this week...
There are meetings tomarrow and thursday...
starting at the beginning of next week people should start getting calls.
honestly- It would be a nightmare to be an alternate- I just want to know if I got in- or I didn't- and move on from there.
I really hate being in limbo like this.

sounds like were waiting until next week. im sure ana knows more about this stuff then bertolami. hes too busy to worry about these things. thanks for the info.
 
So, lets just say that everyone on this thread hoping that UCSF calls our number next week gets put onto the alternate list? What then? Since I am accepted to UM I'll be moving out there in June probably. Unless, of course I am accepted to UCSF before then. But, if am accepted off the waitlist after June, would I move back to SF? In a hot second!!! I just hope I get the chance. It all comes down next week!
 
well.. ucsf has been on spring break. so that may be the cause of the delay.

Food, I noticed you got accepted into UCSF from PreDents.com. Are you attending UCSF?

Although I wish I wouldn't... I feel like if I got an apartment in L.A., paid my 1st tuition installment, and started classes...
and UCSF called me....
That I would still be there...
I honestly loved the school that much- I really hope I am not an alternate though.
Because I honestly liked USC alot... and I am ready to focus all of my attention on the SOD I will undoubtedly be at next year.

i like to leave my options open, so i didn't want to make a final decision until i hear from UOP. but most likely i'll be going to ucsf
 
interview at ucsf and uop....get into ucsf...waiting on uop still....that would be a dream. you lucky person you.

Thanks everyone for the extra bit of info. It's really helping me to calm down and make a timeline of things I will be doing.

Me even worse, I initially intended to go to Pittsburgh, now that Harvard called and accepted me. I was so surprised. But I also like UCSF, if UCSF me accepts me, I really dont know what to do...
 
haha, so it's better if the don't accept you.. just to make things simpler.

I got a message from Ana this morning and she told me that they will be meeting tommorow (thursday) and making calls on Friday for the last round of acceptances. Everyone else will be on alternate. Good luck and God Bless!

Anyone knows how hot is the alternate list just in case?
 
last years alternate list was ~25 people (according to Ana) and they were accepting people up until 2 weeks before the start of school....

I have no clue what # on the alternate list they got up to...

Anyone at UCSF right now know?
 
I thought they would interview around 300 and send out around a total of 130 acceptance to fill the 75 class size. If the rest of the people are going to be put on the wait list, are we looking at a bunch of bros and sis hanging on the list??

What do you mean you don't know what you would do?!! It is all so clear to me: set up a video conference call and make the respective dean of admissions at HArvard, UCSF and PItt fight for you rock, paper, scissors style!!! You'll love every second.

they will start calling people in the 1st or 2nd week of April. So, i sent

The way I see it, the disorganized admission system also reflects the school itself.

hahaha- great taste in music... but am I good enough for UCSF?- we shall see...

Yesterday, I had an advisor who knows Dr. Alexander (randomly- If I had known that a year ago I would have asked her for a LOR) e-mail him an update on my research/campus presentations and projects and basically recommend me for the entering 2006 class- and he e-mailed her back asking if I had received an interview....
I take this as a bad sign...
If he doesn't even recognize my name- I probably am no longer a contender for the last handful of spots...
Oh well- I really hope one of you gets in though- keep me posted!
 
Don't worry too much. Charles doesn't have a list of all the applicants; only the admission office has it. Also, UCSF uses a voting system within a committee to make a decision on matriculating qualified applicants from the applicants pool. Sometimes the interviewer's comment regarding ensuring a spot for the interviewee in the coming class is quite misleading since one person cannot overthrow the majority decision of the committee.

Your good attitude and hope for the welfare of other UCSF candidates ensures you very good admission kharma!! It is only a matter of time until the great dental cosmic forces of the universe intervene on your behalf...Alright, I'm just being a dork, but seriously, if being cool to other people on SDN was criteria for admission at UCSF and I were on the ADCOM and my vote counted for more than anyone elses' I would totally hook you up with an acceptance! This waiting game is rough! 😀 Best of luck to all! :luck:

Well, yeah, no problem. You were the one being nice to everybody. Anyways, just one more week to push through this uncertainty. Well, hopefully. I hope we don't get stuck on that pergatory that begins with "w" and ends in "aitlist." But I've already made my intentions clear in that situation: hope to the bitter end. 😀
