UCSF filled their class as of yesterday

I talked to Jean(?), and she said the same thing....

I called the office trying to figure out when we can expect to hear from them. And they said hopefully within a week. At that time, they'll let the applicants know. Doesn't this sound oddly familiar, and with no results? Starting to lose hope...

Hopefully next week will be a good week. I can see it now... I won't hear anything, and then the following week I'll get a disgustingly thin letter telling me, "this year was a competitive applicant year... please apply again". Scary.

I already sent in $1500 deposit to Temple, but I'm still waiting to hear from UCSF...

What if the admissions comittee made a mistake in their process of selecting people? What if their class is already full? What if they are not going to select more people? What if... What if...

And back on topic... Yeah, I really enjoy checking this thread to see if you peeps get in. It kind of feels like a soap opera with the ups and downs and all of the speculation! I am pulling for all of you and I hope everyone makes it to San Francisco. I've heard there are joint UCSF/UoP student ADA meetings and stuff so you guys would be my dental cousins!

Today marks the one-week self-imposed deadline that UCSF told me about last week. I called the Admissions office last Wednesday, and they hoped to "know" within a week. Today marks a week! I hope we hear by the end of today. But I ain't holding my breath...

I am very grateful I will be able to go to school in Cali.

But if UCSF doesn't contact me soon- I am going to explode.

I just spoke the Carmen- they had the last final meeting yesterday. All decisions have been made and she has a ****load of letters to mail out.

by Friday letters will be in the mail... every rejection, acceptence, and alternate will know where they stand.

They have between 60-90 alternates a year. She told me sometimes they go through the entire list, sometime they take less than 15 from the list, depends on the class. But we will know before May 1- so joe, xyla- wait on sending the $1000 check- ok?

Actually- I asked Carmen that exact question- and she said all by mail- and that Dr. Alexander doesn't always call.

She might have been sugar-coating it- and all of us weren't chosen....
who knows.

It does seem peculiar that they would decide to just not call the last batch of acceptance-- assuming there are any in the batch that Carmen was talking about.

Thanks! I don't think I would. After interviewing at UCLA, I came away feeling that UCLA was my top choice and I don't think I would part with it even if UCSF were to bless me with their acceptance.

There's still a soft spot in my heart for UCSF even though UCLA swept me up and away with their "feel".
