Isn't Dr. Al the one who's making calls? Plus how hard is it a job to make calls and congratulate people on their acceptance, caveman can do it! Are they afraid of hearing "Sorry but I reject your acceptance"???

i love that one person's job is only to make phonecalls. i mean jeez we have other deposits and things. oh well another 4-7 days.....wow

well at least u have options, there are some that are wanting to attend any dental school at this point. hey, it's how the system works.
 
Dr. Alexander called me and as far as I know has called all the other 69 peeps who got accepted so far.

I also think it's kinda mean to postpone accepting calls because someone isn't there. I'm not sure they know that it's torturing people!

Yeah, its totally tortuous. I used to be fairly normal looking, but over the last few months I have begun to look just like the guy in your avatar. It wouldn't be such a big deal except that it sort of freaks people out when my head is constantly tilted back, mouth gaping open and platysma flexed. Grandmothers scream and mothers hurriedly scoot their children to the other side of the street as they stare on in disbelief. Oh, wait, thats just how I feel inside 24/7. D-Day is coming... 😀

i think you reallly really need to chill out. looking at this thread is not gonna help you in anyway. Here's what's happening.

if someone gets in and starts giving out oscar winning speech on how much they love god and their mama -> you'll trip and wonder when's your turn
if someone has new info on when dr.al might call -> you still will trip and wonder when's your turn
if you actually get the call from dr. alexander -> you'll be so happy that you wont need to look at this thread. or maybe you'll come back and give an oscar winning spech yourself. This definitely puts the rest of of whinners in desperation once more.

the point is, i dont know why you, and many others included, would think that checking this thread can make you feel better in any way. IT CAN ONLY MAKE YOU FEEL WORSE.

lighten up, you got a school under your belt thats also close to home. be happy. there are plenty of other people who still havent heard anything.

im living in germany right now and stay up late talking to my girlfriend and check this thread when there is nothing to do. its not that it makes me feel better but seriously how about i go on the basketball thread and talk about ucsf? i need to chill out? u need to chill out about some certain team beating another team in basketball. jesus. its a dental forum thats what we do here. dental stuff. sorry if i offended you dude 👍

The "oscar winning speach" was pretty funny.

The reason people go on here 20 times a day is because they are obsessed. Yes, it might make them feel worse but at least they feel connected to an information pipeline that will let them know what's going on. Good news or bad, not knowing is the thing that drives them crazy. It's like waiting for a biopsy test to come back to see if you have cancer or not. Most want to know right away, good or bad. Mankind's greatest fear is the unknown.

first off, i believe you can only tell someone to "chill out" after they've shown some kind of obsession in consistency. just because i brought up basketball once in this thread, doesnt mean i'm obsessed with it and that i go around the forum hijacking other people's threads. you on the other hand, really really need to cool off thinkin about sf.
anyway, i understand exactly how you feel b/c i'm also waiting on sf and la. i do realize that its the "unknown factor" that makes this whole waiting experience dreadful. but hey, what can we do. wether you want to blame it on sf's disorganization or lack of sympathy for its candidates, it doesnt matter. the point is, try to stay happy and just be content with what you already have! whining on this thread or "expressing your frustration" is just going to reinforce how sad you feel. of course, you are entitled to look up this thread 30 times a day to keep yourself "updated," but i just think it might be better off that you spend this time enjoying ur vacation and focus ur energy on creating a cherishable memory before school starts again.

sounds good but im with pdizzle. i just want to know either way if im in or not. but yes i will enjoy my vacation (im working and living with an oral surgeon) in germany. you are waiting on LA too. im jealous. but good luck man and no hard feelings.

jokerjoe called today.... they are going to start making calls tomorrow and friday and next week... they said it's a slow process bc they have to verify everyone's grades, etc. so not everyone will hear on the same day.

wouldn't make more sense if grades were verified before interviews were granted?

I bet they're just now reviewing transcripts to make sure the people they are accepting have all the required coursework done. That is all. No need to send them updated courseweek info, they'll ask for that after the acceptance.
 
To those that are "freak'n out" and mentioned transcripts.

There is a final transcript verification before they call you. I know this because I was contacted by Mr. McKenzie with a problem with my transcripts I had directly sent to UCSF (Which as you know, you have to do. they don't take AADSAS transcripts). I had to fax them over a new copy of the complete transcript that day. He stressed that it was urgent. the next day I got "the call" from Dr. Alexander.

he has a 3.4 overall gpa from UC Irvine

AA/TS/PAT = 18/19/17 but his rc - 15..

i guess the are a bit lower than yours but sort of similar.. remember he made that post called "ucsf..." where he posted his stats, etc. and he's a minority blah blah blah.. i think u responded to it.

on my acceptance packet, i was given a postcard that has boxes for provisional admitted and waitlisted.

i think you can choose not be be waitlisted.

Hey guys-
I called UCSF yesterday and spoke to Bob Mckenzie (sp?) who told me, and I quote "that there are still quite a few spots open. The admissions committee will be meeting either next week or the week after to fill some of those spots but that might not be the last committe meeting. There might be another one after that." I dont know if anyone else has called or not but i would be interested to hear what you guys were told.... Good luck to all
