2018 UCSF Pharmacy School

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i received an interview invite this morning - and it is scheduled on my birthday!

to all those wondering about MMI format, i was accepted to my hometown at the University of Oklahoma (which began using MMI this year's admissions cycle) last month - it was nerve wracking, although a very interesting and valuable experience. i found it very liberating in how you can convey yourself.
congrats!

Any good list of MMI prep Q's online?

Also .. for MMI pharmacy interviews, my partner used Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) for the Mind purchased from Amazon (#1 best seller in graduate school guides and #2 in medical school guides) and received a few post interview admissions' offers already.

Ultimately accepted an offer at a non-MMI school in the northeast ... lol!

who's here in the city tonight?!

I arrived at San Francisco yesterday too! Good luck to all of us!

Yay! I am glad my interview has come and gone! I think it went well! Now the waiting game begins! April 1st seems so far away! Lol

For the people who've already done the interview, how was the MMI experience? How much time did they give for each section and how many sections were there?

Also, does anyone know the stats for UCSF in terms of number of people invited to interviews? I know that there is about 1,400 applicants and around 122 get admitted (8% o_o), but how many of those applicants were granted interviews?

Telling you would give you a pretty unfair advantage, so sorry buddy.

Understandable. Different question then: since the format is MMI, do they still give us the opportunity to ask them questions?

I can answer that they interview roughly around 300 people

I know we have a >1 month left to wait (am already DYING of anticipation here...), but I was wondering if we anyone knew whether we were going to receive acceptances/rejection/waitlist letters by mail or e-mail? It looks like the last year was e-mail, but years before that seemed to be by snail mail.

(If it's by snail mail, then that means we have another extra few days of waiting 😱)

EEEEEEEEEK. So nervous!:android: Good luck to the last interviewing date as well :c

It'll be e-mail.

for those of you who interviewed at both, which one did you like better: UCSD or UCSF?

Both of them are good.
If I could choose, I will pick UCSD because of the weather and living cost. Personally I don't like the weather and city life of SF, while I am used to the sunshine and beach life in Southern California. Unfortunately, I don't have a four year degree here, so I am not elligible to apply UCSD.🙁

You don't need to go to UCSD for undergrad to apply for their pharmacy program.

Funny that you mentioned the weather and life in SF as being a factor, I honestly was thinking the same thing. Only after my interview at UCSF did I realize how great the weather is in SoCal. It's basically always sunny and nice. The weather was pretty atrocious at SF when I was there. Guess that's why a lot of people choose SC over SF, it's definitely all about fit.

UCSD requires applicants with a bachelor degree from the US. Even if you hold a master degree from overseas, they still request you to be a full time undergraduate student in a four year university ( not necessarily UCSD) in this US for at least a year. So I am not eligible to apply.
It will be silly if one gives up UCSF because of weather, but honestly I was sick for a week after I was interviewed there. It was so windy and cold...My previous trip to SF is in real summer, however it was still very windy and cold, even not as warm as the winter in SoCal.

Got it. Was confused by your wording, I thought you meant you needed to go to UCSD. Either way, the weather was bad, but I'd go straight to UCSF if I was accepted.

I find it amusing and hilarious that you SoCal peeps are complaining about SF weather. In Chicago, we can get blizzards, torrential rain, gale winds, and sub-zero temperatures--all in the same day. When I interviewed on 2/1, that weather was tropical for me. So yes, a UCSF acceptance would mean NOT having to jump over slushy puddles (and missing!), shoveling snow and having the frigid wind blow it back at my face, and having my whole life flash before me every time my car skids for at least the next four years.

You guys have it good; please don't take it for granted!

@ poobidis i wasn't able to answer ur PM...idk why but it wouldn't let me. hopefully u see this. update ur privacy settings or something.....

Good is relative.

Has anyone heard anything yet?

Besides the financial aid letter.

Was anybody able to go to the Pharmacy Information Day?

It'll probably be the following week, week of the 24th... I hate the wait!!!! 🙁(((
Well according to last year's thread, they found out on the equivalent of next thursday.

I'm thinking it'll be the same for us.

I Can't take the wait. I keep refreshing my email. Even on weekends :/ I don't even feel like I did well on the MMIs. This is so annoying!!

Hey you're telling me, I had the first interview! Been waiting longer than all yall

Am I the only one confused with the financial aid process for ucsf?

Hmm, well, according to their blog, they offer acceptances and send out rejections concurrently, so for those of us who haven't been rejected yet, there's hope

May I have the link to this blog? Or is this the same blog that they gave us in the email before our interviews?
