I am glad to finally be done with my UCSF application! I spent weeks perfecting my answers to the supplemental questions on Form B. I thought this was a very challenging application to complete. Of course this makes sense, as UCSF is the top ranked school and admissions are very competitive.

I guess I was just curious to hear other people's thoughts about the UCSF application. I'm preparing myself for the long wait before hearing back, so I just thought it would be nice to hear from some fellow applicants in the meantime. 🙂

Ya those essays take forever. Know your application well when you go to your interviews (should you get one) - it's always nice to build off of it as they will ask for you to elaborate further than what was just on paper. Also, I would start practicing your ability to form essays on the spot. I was caught off guard when I had to do so last year, though truthfully I didn't want to go to UCSF.

I feel you gruniongal; compared to the other schools I applied to, UCSF was definitely the most time consuming.

How do you feel about your Candidate Statement? I actually liked this question, as it was the best chance to sell myself. I was going to write a third person, non-fiction (but fiction-like reading) story but opted for a poem, ha! What did you do?

Anyways, good luck to you and everyone else applying!

👍

I'm still working on B5 and need to start B1...... It's taking so longggg :scared:

it takes me weeks to finish UCSF supps. But in the end, I think it's all worth it. 🙂

good luck to you all and me too 😀

i went to their application workshop and they highly suggested you make a copy of your application because they're definitely going to ask u during the interview to expand what you wrote on the supplemental app.

good luck to all waiting to hear from them!

It took me less than a week altogether while studying for 3 midterms in the same week. Since reading your post I am definately kind of feeling scared now😀😀😀 but I still think I have answered the best way I could. I live next to UCSF, have friends who go there, went to a few seminars meeting with their students so I feel like I more or less I know what they want.🙄

I don't want to give away what I did, but I loved the fact that I could write a personal essay too. I definately think I wrote something beyond ordinary🙂 ( at least for me since english is my third language), I certainly hope they feel the same way too.😀

I would be very careful about following all the instructions on the application. James told me last year that there were very highly qualified applications and well written essays that didn't do as instructed and they had no choice but to remove them from the running. My friend also accidentally submitted 1 hour after the deadline because she didn't know what time zone she was in at that moment (traveling I suppose?) and they wouldnt' accept her application when she emailed them.

Do not confuse my discussed actions in the original post with desperation... because it was!!!

Just remember UCSF has very strict directions for their applications and if you can't pay attention to (small) detail, how could you possibly work as a pharmacist?

I didn't know you can email your apps. Do you mean the PharmCas?

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts.

Best of luck to all. 🙂

Did anyone get an application receipt reply via email? I have sent my app in about a week ago and haven't received any reply. I know on the web, they say it takes about a month for a reply, but does it really take that long for them to acknowledge the application?

Did anyone answer the questions on supplemental Form C (optional form)? I'm pretty much finished with Form B, but I don't think my Form C answers are very strong.

I'm a current first year pharmacy student at UCSF and I didn't submit the optional Form C when I applied. If I were you I would only submit it if you feel like you REALLY have something to say. Quality is better than quantity 😛

Gosh, I am super super jealous of you ( in a good way 🙂) - I would give A LOT to go to that school. Living next to it and seeing all of you studying in the library - with your blue p-chem books doesn't help either - it only makes me wanna go there more. 🙂🙁🙂

How is the P1 year? What am I missing? 🙂

yeah....I don't think I'm going to submit Form C. I don't really have much to say.

Lol, you're missing lots of fun stuff like a GI Paper, P. Chem midterms, walking up and down lots of hills, administration of immunizations, and waking up for 8 am classes, though I'm assuming you have stuff like this as well. UCSF is really an awesome school though, and the classes are fun for the most part ^_^ All the students are really nice and everyone is really helpful. Surprisingly it's easier than undergrad, though I've heard the curriculum gets progressively harder. Hey, cheburashka are you going to SF state? It may just be that you'll end up in that library next year with that big blue P. Chem book, and then you'll really know just how lucky you are 😉

I thought that the app was hard. I kind of felt that I really answer the prompts that well. If the deadline wasn't so close I probably wouldn't have submitted it yet, but it's too late now. Hoping for an interview, but not too optimistic when I think about how well I filled out the app...

I can still submit the application tomorrow right? Says on november 1st before midnight unless for some reason I'm missing something.

Anyway, for one of the C question it asks to talk about economic disadvantages. Would my parent's changing jobs and moving to a new location with the need for me to help them with part of the transition be considered a factor worth mentioning? If so, what about the educationaly disadvantage question with me being the only one in my family to go to college in the U.S?

so it says the supplemental applications need to be postmarked on or before november 1st, 2007.. So it's fine for me to go to postoffice tomorrow.. like really early as it opens and post it.. right???

might be a stupid question to some but I'm getting really anxious right now.. Can someone calm me down by confidently answering yes to the question above........😱🙁

Yes.

Since it says "on," you can mail it out tomorrow. If it said "by" or "before," today would be the deadline to mail out. Make sure you have proof, just in case...
