Rejected.

They still had my old address so the way I found out was my old roommate texted me... it said "Univ of Florida said no".

Haha!

haha I told my roomie to check the mail and I got "🙁" as a text... so I replied "what?" and she said "no interview at UF"

I actually called them today to "confirm my address" lol.
They assured me all the letters had been sent and that it's going to the address you put on your VMCAS.

Hope this helps, although I know the wait is agonizing!

I emailed Lynette about switching dates, and she was very nice about it, just waiting for space to open up. So if anyone has a conflict on the 6th, I would urge you to ask to switch to the 20th!

Also, are there any other Florida residents interviewing on the 20th? I am at school outside of florida, but since I'm a dependent I should still be a FL res., and this is making me a little concerned about my residency status now...

I'm an in-state that is going to school at UF and I got March 20th.

Got my invite today too. Really wanted to go and check it out, but can't due to my schedule. I hope one of you guys get my invite. Good luck!

Hey guys, florida resident here and recent graduate from FSU (non-vet med related) and am thinking of moving back home to Ocala and taking post-bac classes and UF for my pre-reqs. Does anyone have any recommendations about doing this, or advice for what would be the best option? I was going to stay at FSU and take the classes but I realized with no income, moving back home and being able to take classes at UF would just be the smarter idea. UF's classes are probably a little more rigorous too, so I figured that would be better. Just not sure how easy it is to get into the post-bac program! Thanks for any help given 🙂

ps not trying to start a FSU vs UF battle, I like both 😀

Congratulations to everyone that received interview invitations!!! I am sooo excited and hope this dream of going to vet school comes true!!! Look forward to meeting other SDNers on March 6th!!!!!!😀

I was in your shoes a couple of years ago. It is an awesome journey! I also have an unrelated undergrad degree. In 2008, I applied to UF to complete the pre-reqs and at that time UF did not allow post-bachelors to enroll, as degree seeking anyways. I guess their classes were at capacity. I didn't try to enroll as non-degree seeking, so maybe they allow that. I ended up completed just the pre-reqs (no second degree) at the school I finished my undergrad in. Best of luck to you!

My understanding is that they do not do post-bac. I actually tried that last year since I did my undergrad at UF and you can only take classes if you are degree seeking. That's why I ended up going the route of a non-thesis masters.

Thanks guys! I just e-mailed them now, so hopefully I can get a clear yes/no on the post bac stuff. One part of the website says they don't do it, another part says they will do it but you have to make sure there is room from the department? Oh well, hopefully it will work out!

My letter got sent back, so I went to the school to pick it up. I've got an interview for March 20th!!! Hope to see some of you guys there!

I am in my undergrad at UF now, but there were a few pre-reqs I didn't need to take for this application cycle, but if I were to apply again I wanted to apply to some different schools and would have to take a few more classes. I called about it and they told me once I graduate from undergrad, I can only register under the "non-degree seeking" status, which basically means you have the last day of registration and most classes you are going to need to take most likely will be full or the horrible horrible teachers will be left.... classes like eukaryotic, micro & lab, biochem, and the good teachers for orgo would be near impossible to get unless you were able to get special permission for the class... there are just way too many pre-professionals here.
Not only would I talk to admissions, but I'd get into contact with the department heads of each class you want to take - it's all about who you know and who you talk to (just like real like 😀)
Hope that helps!

Finally got my interview!!! i'm so excited I hope i don't screw it up this year 😍 my interview is March 6th at 830am let me know if anyone else has the same time

Anyone else interviewing March 20th at 2:30PM? Again, I am among the last of the interviewees. Although, it's probably because my name begins with a Z 😛.

my roomie actually has the first interview time at 7:30am so im glad we have an extra hour.

Does anyone know if UF is still using the behavioral interview style? I went down there for a visit last summer and a student told me they use this style of interview. Also, where did the SDN feedback for UF go? 🙁

Lynette sent an email out today with this information regarding the interviews:

"[FONT=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]As Dr. Vickroy pointed out in his letter, your admissions interview will be conducted by a three-member panel and will last approximately 50 minutes. The interview will be “closed file” which means your interview team will have limited knowledge of your background. There is no formal list of questions; in general, you should be prepared to discuss your academic career, your motive for choosing the veterinary field and perhaps issues affecting the practice of veterinary medicine. At the end of the interview, you will have an opportunity to ask questions.."

There is a list of questions they have to choose from just no set ones they have to ask to each student. My boss was on the committee last year and the year before and told me they have a list of about 200 questions, and they choose from that list. I had an interview last year also, and if you practice using the questions on the interview feedback you will be fine. I think there was only one question that was different. Good luck everyone. :luck:

There are no posts under the interview feedback for UF. 🙁 I think they may have erased it when they updated it. :scared:

Thanks so much Mitshu! Congratulations to everyone that got an interview!:claps: Good luck!

Does anyone know about UF's financial aid or scholarships?

Federal loans are available and vet students can borrow up to $40,500.00 annually. They also have a limited number of supplemental loans and scholarships, but are offed to currently enrolled students. Check out the FAFSA website http://www.fafsa.ed.gov

All of you gotten the e-mail from the class president? It really gives me a good impression of the school already. Haha, I'm so easily influenced. 😛

Ahhh does anyone know where the interview feedback for UF went?? I had it bookmarked and now it's a whole different page with nothing for UF 🙁

I think we might all expect some question on the Sea World death in our interviews.

Oi, I still don't know how I feel about the situation other than it's sad for all parties involved. 🙁

Please help!
Does anyone have the interview feedback saved somewhere or something? I can't find them anywhere!

Looks like they deleted all the responses 🙁. So, we're on our own unless someone is nice enough to post some on here.

Haha. It's in my nature to freak out right away! Please let me know if you find anything. Thanks so much!

FYI for those who itnerview on the 5th of March- GatorNationals racing competition is occuring start that weekend, so if you're planning on spending Fri night and are going to get a hotel- reserve now.

I thought I could just drive down Fri night last year and find a place- I had to hunt and then got the last room at one hotel.

well i didn't have anything saved for the interview questions, but you can look at the western feedback its very similar. a lot of behavioral questions like tell us a time when this happened and how you handled it. And of course the euthanasia questions they asked a lot. diff between animal rights and animal welfare. I hope that helps.

Thanks Mitshu. I just interviewed at Illinois this past weekend and they have behavioral interviews, so hopefully that will help. I just like having specific past questions from the schools...may have to do with my obsession with organization who knows.

Thank you Philomycus!!! I wasn't planning on making a reservation because I didn't think I would need one, but I'm going to go ahead and call a hotel asap!!!

I was wondering if anyone had any info about tuition increases for this year in the state of Florida. I know that they are planning to raise tuition for undergrads significantly over the next five years but I think that professional programs will be affected as well. I can't seem to find any numbers- only the review of last year's legislation saying that they can raise the cap by 15%. Any info would be great...

We got an email today that said to expect increases, but by how much hasn't been decided yet.

Anyone else getting excited for their interview??? I am looking forward to that road trip!!!! Only four days remaining!!!

Was wondering if Philomycus would be giving interview tours this Saturday?

Philomycus will be in south Georgia in the middle of nowhere relaxing with her xbox, dog, cat, and squirrel; and not in that order. This weekend starts our spring break.

After having a Renal exam last Friday, Large Animal Anatomy exam Monday, Musculoskeletal tomorrow and Hematology this Friday we all are going to need that break. So ben gentle o my classmate on the 5th- if they look exhausted- it's because we all are.

Good luck to you though!

The alternate interview waitlist is starting to move too, in case any of you are on it.
