Heard from a friend who knows someone in the UIC admissions office that acceptances should be going out in the next week or so. Makes sense - Dr. John had said she wanted to notify people before Christmas so they could enjoy the holidays...

University of Illinois-Chicago DPT Class of 2015
Northwestern University, BS-Industrial Engineering, 1991

well, depending on the answer, we'll see if i'll be enjoying the holidays or not.

My friend got his rejection e-mail from UIC today - hopefully, you will hear good news soon...

One of my friends who applied there just got a letter yesterday saying she was waitlisted...i haven't heard anything yet, not sure if that is a good or bad thing

I haven't heard anything from them either

I got my rejection letter in the mail yesterday 🙁 No email....the letter said they had over 1000 applicants for next year and they were expecting the average GRE to be above 1200 and average gpa to be over 3.7

Same here. Oh well, that is a VERY high gpa/GRE that people are accepted with. That's almost greater than medical school scores 😛

i am in state and haven't heard anything. i am getting so nervous. didn't have close to a 3.7, but i guess we'll see. good luck everyone.

maybe you'll get waitlisted...i had a 3.4 and was rejected but my friend had a 3.35 and was waitlisted..i think that difference was really in the GRE scores.

got my rejection letter two days ago. that was way to many applicants, i was wondering if all of 1000 apl. were qualified!!!!

I got my acceptance email to UIC on Friday!

I couldn't find a facebook group for UIC Class of 2015, has anyone started one? I would like to start getting to know my new classmates! Other than one friend that already got in early decision, I don't know anyone. I'm new to this forum.

I got an email from UIC that a decision letter has been sent......prolly not a good news. :scared:

got my waitlisted letter today. i got accepted into governors state, so i think i'll accept there and see what happens. haven't heard anything from the northwestern or midwestern yet. good luck everyone and congrats to those who got accepted.

UIC blows! And no this is not sour grapes because I do not have the stats to get into UIC (see signature below).

If you ask UIC students, most would say "Love Chicago, hate UIC". They have some of the crappiest facilities/labratories you'll ever see. I do not know how they are ranked as a Top 15 program. If you are applying to UIC chances are you have great stats. My recommendation, take those stats up the road to Northwestern. Yes there tuition is 20K more over three years but if I had the stats I would definitely go to Northwestern. Their facilities are much nicer and locate in a much cleaner part of town.

Wow. Pretty bad advice.

Hmm - while I am glad to have been accepted to UIC, I have scrupulously avoided making/posting any judgements about any other school, because I have not attended those schools yet.
It did seem like all 9 people in our Early Decision campus tour were very happy about our decision - I was very impressed with the faculty members we met, and the second years that we ate lunch with were pretty positive. I actually like the urban environment and appreciate the service-oriented goal of the school.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess...

Terrible advice and couldn't disagree with you more.

Yeah UIC is an excellent school, just because you are not accepted doesn't mean you should rip on it. I would have loved to have attended there...sorry RizDPT, but definitely terrible advice

Haha you guys are talking to me like I haven't attended the institution for the past four years. There are definitely pros to going to UIC like the public transit accessibility and relatively affordable tuition, but for me the cons outweigh the pros.

Like I said before this is not sour grapes as I didn't even apply to their PT program. I am not trying to start a war on these boards, just putting in my two cents. If you haven't completed your undergrad at UIC then I understand your perspective completely, however, for those of us who have, we know better.

Good luck to all of you guys. Acceptance into PT school is a great accomplishment no matter the institution. Happy holidays, God Bless.

You're speaking for yourself, not everyone who did any undergrad at UIC. Some of us realize that the strength of UIC's DPT program is not the same as its strength as an undergraduate institution.

Yikes. Could not disagree more . Brand new labs, great clinical affiliations, affordable in state tuition. I'd have loved to go there. please, unless u have a tangible reason to slander a great PT school on the Internet, I'd hope you refrain in the future. It's just not true.

I got into NIU and UIC, I never hard a tougher decision. I mean both are public schools and not extremely pricey and I live on the southwest suburbs of Chicago, so that means a commute on the Metra there and back; but I've gone to NIU for the past four years as an undergrad and its much cheaper having an apartment on campus is pretty clutch not have to rely on public transportation as I would have to UIC. But UIC has the name recognition and NIU is cheaper and with basically the same passing rates. SO, what do I do. Is UIC that much better than NIU or should I just stay here in Dekalb. Thanks

UH, really? Would you want to pay $38,000 for an Audi while someone else pays $33,000? Not sure why you would want to incur more debt for essentially the same product.

Well what if one school was ranked a lot better. Im talking 14 to 143rd in the nation?
