Hi everyone,
I recently got accepted into both UIC's dental school and MWU-IL's dental school. I really would appreciate your thoughts on which school is a better choice as I'm really confused on which school I should attend, UIC or MWU-IL. Please feel free to list out any pros and cons, etc.

Some information to help:
Distance: MWU-IL is 20 minutes from my house and UIC is about 45 minutes- hr depending on traffic. If I attend UIC, I plan on moving to the city for the first 2 years of dental school.

Cost : MWU-IL = $121,916 (all 4 years)

UIC: $51,374 (D1 yr- because there is no summer semester in D1 yr so the cost is less first semester)
& $77,061 (D2,D3,D4 yr)

If any one had to make this same decision or had friends that went to either school/ or currently in one of these schools, please also let me know your thoughts!

Thanks!

UIC is a more established program and significantly cheaper, so that would be my choice. Even if you do move to the city, it’d still be a lot cheaper than MWU

will you be living at home with family if you were to go to MWU? one of my friends chose MWU over uic, due to wanting to be near her family and will be living at home to save on rent. also wanted a more safe/suburban environment

Yes, I would be living with family and would not have to rent. However, If I went to UIC I would still be able to visit my family over the weekends or maybe once a month, so its not like I will be too far from them (I'll be 45 minutes-1 hr away).

sounds like you have your mind made up then! did you just recently hear back from both schools?

I just heard back from MWU-IL. UIC I heard a few months ago. I'm just curious which school has a better education/clinical experience? Thats what I would like to know to make my decision.

Midwestern has newer facilities and a better clinical program. Uic is cheaper. However if you’re not paying rent by going to midwestern that would save u a lot of money. The choice is yours at the end of the day

Why do you say MWU has a better clinical program? I'm just curious because UIC was established for much longer and in general I heard it has a known reputation for great clinical experience.

Better in terms of newer facilities and being able to work with patients earlier on. Also, I know at Midwestern you are able to work with digital dentistry and perform implants. Uic does have a more diverse patient pool tho

Hi can I know your stats? Also congrats on getting into both schools. Both are my top!
Pros of UIC- well established, located in a very diverse area, great exposure, great if you want to specialize. Also smaller class size than UIC.
Cons-Student group learning- not sure if you see that as a pro or con.
Pros of Midwestern- Uses the newest technology, very hands on, friendly professors.
Cons- large class size, expensive.
If I got into both I think I would go to UIC!
