Just wondering, does anyone know whether the UIC status page hints at whether a person has been accepted, waitlisted, or rejected from the school? I recently had my interview at UIC, and I really liked the school for various reasons. I was told that I would hear from the Committee by the end of January, but I'm just dying to know the outcome now. I saw that some of the colors on my status page had changed, so I wasn't sure whether that indicated anything.

Thanks!

wondering the same thing....

some people have said their page changed and said something about a letter being sent. i was suddenly unable to log in shortly after i knew i went to committee. i received an acceptance the next week.

My status changed to "A final decision was made on your application on 01-25-05. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

Hopefully this is good news. The "additional correspondence" says 1/25 - which means I should get something in the mail by the end of the week. Nerves are setting in.

Has anyone received this status change and been rejected or wait-listed?

for those who have been accepted, how long after the status update did you receive a letter in the mail?

Depends on where you live, two weeks at most.

I applied to the MSP at Urbana. On that status page for the UIC med school what are the different things it will say at the bottom. Mine has said "in process" for 2 weeks now. Will that change to "in review" , interview granted, rejection or will it continue to stay in process the whole time? Thank you.

I just realized that my status page says the same thing about a final decision being made! Except that my interview was back in mid-Nov and it looks like it went through at least two rounds of committee review...now I'm extra nervous since I don't know if the long decision time indicates a rejection! :scared:

Aw, man. The status page is down every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5p.m. to 8a.m. the next day. I really want to see my status. 🙁

Anyone receive a waitlist or hold notification through the e-mail? Just wondering how soon those went out.

Good luck, everyone!

ditto. bump.

There was no change to my status page since my app was complete, but I interviewed late October and got a snail mail acceptance a month later (and I'm in California so thats probably max send time).

Does anyone know if the committee met today (1/27) or last Thurs (1/20)?

i believe they must have met last thursday. i just got my acceptance! 🙂 good luck everyone.

Woohoo congrats man. You and I have been stressing. I haven't received any work yet. I'm from NY and they made a decision on my app on the 25th. I am keeping my fingers crossed though.

thanks, bro. time for me to chill...i called and pretty much pleaded with them to tell me and they eventually did. i haven't checked the mail yet today (im in boston), but if you're in the east as well and didn't get anything, then i probably didnt. from what the lady on the phone told me, she was "pretty" sure that if the "final decision" was on the status page, it meant you're in (for this round of interviews). good luck!

when did you interview? i interviewed on the 19th, so i was wondering if i was sent to that meeting as well. my status page still says "application in progress", though... if i call them, will they tell me if i was sent or not?

thanks!

Congratulations Chitown82! I'm in MD and I haven't received anything yet, but I do know that my "final decision" is there. Did you ever end up contacting Dean Girotti?

hey there! i interviewed on the 10th (i think)....im pretty sure they met last thurs (jan 20) and if you interviewed the 19th, i dont think your file went to committee yet...prolly takes them a little time to organize feedback from people's interviews and what not. good luck!

just got home and checked my snail mail - didn't get the packet yet. i found out via phone today so thats how i know. i actually never got around to emailing dean girotti, but others say he's really nice so it cant hurt.

Hey JuicyDay!!
I also interviewed the 19th (at Rockford) and I called the admissions office and spoke with the assistant director of admissions who informed me that our files would be reviewed in the February committee meeting.

If the committee meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month (like the rumors say) then that would mean that they would be meeting on the 17th.

Now if only February 17th didn't feel like an eternity away...

Just got the acceptance package yesterday... Interviewed on the 5th. Thanks belongs to God.

I interviewed on the 6th of January. I checked my status on January 26th and it indicated that a letter was sent on January 25th. I am still waiting. Hope it's an acceptance. Congrats to those with acceptances! Anyone else who interviewed on that day hear anything?

i havent received the letter yet either 🙁...thankfully i found out over the phone. where are you located? im in boston.

Hey guys! I'm getting a little concerned, because I interviewed back in December in Peoria, and I checked my status page and it still says that my application is processing. Should I be worried?

hey, i was at rockford also on the 19th, afternoon session! dude, the rockford campus does NOT feel like a med school. what did you think of it?

good to know about feb 17th; now i don't have to keep checking my status page like a neurotic little premed 😀

most definitely! i know they have a few spots available...anyone have any idea how many for this round of acceptances? are you set on UIC or are you considering other schools? i really want to be back in chicago for med school and i'm happy with uic so i'm pretty set on things. i interviewed at "higher ranked" schools but wouldn't trade my acceptance from uic (hopefully the chicago campus) for much else right now.

I have to agree about the Rockford campus...it wasn't too impressive. If you blinked you may have missed the "grand tour" (all 2 floors of it). However, the great patient contact that students get from their second year in those primary care clinics is unique (and you can do rotations in chicago if you want).

I just hope that I get accepted as UIC is my first choice and that I can stay in Chicago where my family is.

But only time will tell.

My husband and I just got our acceptance packets yesterday. Chitown-we're also in Boston right now.
How to decide upon a campus? Chicago seems the most fun, but my family is from Peoria and my Dad and Uncle are surgeons there and teach med students. It would be fun to learn under them, but at the same time I'd be under the microscope all the time because all the docs there know my family.

I really just wanna get in someplace! i'm waitlisted at Loyola, but don't have any acceptances. and i'm still waiting to hear from 3 schools.

Having said that, I really didn't like Rockford's campus. Perhaps Peoria would be better, but Chicago is definitely at the top. I have no excuse to say this since I've been in Chicago forever, but I still have not seen the Chicago campus. I think I will just see if i get in, then go from there.

however, i do have to say that if i get in at UIC and get off the waitlist at loyola, it will be difficult to figure out what to do. loyola is BEAUTIFUL. clearly it's more expensive, but it's very obvious where that money is going. but since those are not the circumstances yet, i won't get my hopes thinking about it 😉

i agree...loyola is aweomse! i got into UIC's 8 year combined ba/md program and turned it down for a school in the east coast knowing that after undergrad i'd like to be back in chicago. i have a ton of friends at uic med...mostly at the chicago campus but a few at the rockford campus. everyone seems to love uic and the match list is pretty good so i feel pretty strong about the school. i would love to be in the chicago campus as well - i think it would be a better clinical environment and offer me more research opps that the other campus. plus i think it would be more fun to live downtown than in rockford or peroria. hopefully chicago will work out, but if it doesn't i won't be too upset about it.

oh, research opportunities are for SURE much better at the chicago campus. rockford has little clinical research, and essentiallly none cancer/basic science research. i can't imagine peoria having much research. i think chambana might have more basic science research. for cancer research, i think chicago would be best. actually, my interviewers at rockford asked me what school i would prefer-- i said chicago solely for cancer research. hope they didn't take it too personally!! 😛

I've done a ton of research during undergrad and I plan on continue so it would be sad not to get Chicago. I'm sure you'll have no probs getting into UIC...they're quite good to in-staters. Good luck!

So as far as the status page's accuracy goes...

Mine still says "application in progress", despite the fact that I recieved a rejection today.
