I interviewed 1/30/08 and my acceptance letter is dated 2/26/08. I just got the big packet yesterday in the mail (white envelope).

Best of luck everyone!!!! :luck::luck::luck:

This is what the online system shows for me right now:

Current Status
A final decision was made on your application on 02-26-08. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

Anyone else recieve a status change saying a final decision was made on 02-27-08 post interview. I recieved a rejection letter post interview.

I may have an issue getting to the shin-dig tonight on time. Would someone who's getting there a little early please get some sort of sign/poster/thing that will help SDN'ers recognize our table? plz k thx. 🙂

I don't know about early.. but I'll be there around 7... If no one else has yet I'll be prepared with a sign lol

Hey guys, I can't come to Jak's Tap tonight 🙁 For some reason, I thought it was going to be next week. Anyways, let us know how it goes and keep me posted on future get-togethers!

Did anyone interview in mid february at a campus other than chicago and have their status change already?

I interviewed on Feb 18 at Peroria and have not heard anything/havent had a status change. At the interview, they told us that people interviewing in that week would most likely not be included in the adcom meeting on the thursday of that week and would be reviewed in the following month. Good luck! I wish they would have included us in the meeting but we'll just have to wait a bit more. Really hope to hear some good news from UIC!

Sorry guys, I won't be able to make it tonight. Maybe next time 🙄

What exactly is the out of state tuition at UIC?
AAMC book says like 50,000, but the website says 26,000 for range I, it's so confusing.....

50k for out of state. 26k for in state.

50k for out of state. 26k for in state.

Now, I know that the 26k tuition figure doesn't include the two 10k summer tuition charges (for after second and third year), but do summer tuition charges also need to be added onto the 50k tuition for OOS? That would be insane, but I can't imagine why they'd calculate it differently for instate vs. OOS.

EDIT: Oh. My. God. It's 54k for OOS tuition PLUS 18k each for two summers:

HOLY CRAP! That's a grand total of $335,732!!! + an additional living expense for the summer after 1st year (if you decide to not work)....

In-state grand total is $202,606. Wow. That's a huge difference... Its wishful thinking, but maybe this might influence some people to withdraw their app/Chicago spots? :meanie: jk... sorta.

EDIT: Phoenix, the living expense for M1 year is for 9-months (Aug-May) only, right?

I'll be interviewing at UIC in mid-March. Anyone know whether UIC is still interviewing for regular spots, or for waitlist?

Also, does the Chicago campus still have spots left?

Thanks.

yay! the acceptance letter finally reached me in CA. I am honored to be joining all you fine people next year 🙂

it's for people who they're basically recruiting.

No need to apologize! 🙂 But that's my understanding of all second look days/weekends. It's a chance for schools to take students who they've accepted and really want to retain, and dog and pony show their school a little bit.

At other schools they tend to wine and dine you a little (I have a friend they did that for at Indiana). There's also a story on SDN about a guy who had way too much to drink, used an ethnic slur, and had his acceptance revoked at Duke.

Does anyone know the dress code at these second look events? I think I'm going, but don't want to dress up in a suit again! I'm thinking business casual?

It's definitely possible everyone who was accepted got one. Speak up if you didn't (and were accepted more recently than February let's say). I was just talking about 2nd look days in general.

Yeah, I agree that the tone of the e-mail made it seem everyone who was accepted was invited. I'm interested to see if that's the case.

I believe I got a paper about it in the acceptance package few days ago

Not everyone who was accepted got that email? It sounded pretty inclusive..

I did not get that e-mail....maybe because i provided them with a LOI post-interview?

I wanna go to second look! gives me a good reason to take off work :-D

Now that I have an acceptance! (OOS tuition is insane!)
I am thinking about withdrawing from UVM(OOS waitlist), SUNY BUFFALO(OOS waitlist), and Drexel (post interview)

What do you guys think?

Or maybe you'll get a different save the date for the campus you've been assigned to. If I remember correctly you are going to Rockford right? Maybe the campuses all have their own second looks. It would make sense to me, at least.

I would imagine this is the case.

Rockford/Peoria people start in Urbana anyway.

I think you should only withdraw from those waitlists/schools if you know you would rather go to UIC than one of those schools. Also, you should take into consideration the financials - I'm not sure how much cheaper those schools are or if you're OOS at all of them as well. Then there's the geography issue, which is very personal, and I know the curriculum at UVM is very different from UIC. Only you can decide what you prefer, and unless you know UIC is your top choice among those schools, you should probably hold onto the waitlists. Imagine tomorrow you got into ______. Would you be torn between that school and UIC? If so, just stay on the list and let it ride. If not, withdraw. Congrats on your UIC acceptance!

damn good memory 👍 you're probably right.

i still havent released my transcripts yet...complete laziness.

😱 ... M ... G

I loved UIC, but that tuition is just absolutely ridiculous! I thought I wanted to step out of California for once, but not at more than double the price! This place is even more expensive than private schools when you factor in the summer tuition!

Yes!!! It's extravagant!! Everybody OOS drop your acceptances to UIC bwahahahaha! :meanie:

Its wishful thinking, but maybe this might influence some people to withdraw their app/Chicago spots? :meanie: jk... sorta.

Actually, I just did. So there's one more spot open at the Chicago campus for a lucky someone. You're welcome. 🙂

rp218--ever call them yesterday and figure out what happened to your application?

Quick question - what's our UIN?

Will we receive that once our deposit is cashed?

I actually called admissions today to ask how we go about finding that out since i'm getting some immunizations today and need to fill out that form. the lady on the phone told me my UIN would be mailed shortly (even though i got in a LONG time ago). She told me to leave my UIN blank on my form and send it in anyway.

I was UIC undergrad, so I just filled out that form with my undergrad UIN. hopefully it carries over

Hey so I was psyched getting my big envelope..but now I'm stressing out bout how to get into the Chicago campus, since most likely that will NOT be my placement.

So, I'm here drafting my appeal letter, do you think these reason for good enough, or are they looking for something more dramatic.

I'm OOS, but I have famly living in Chicago ( I can live with them and lift a huge fiancial burden already placed on OOS'ers)

My best friend from college is also accepted to class of 2012 and was placed in Chicago. (also another living possibility and its one of my best friends!)

I have a background in urban medicine (volunteer and work experience) and would like to be placed in an urban environment.

Thats all i have for now. Any good?

yeah emphasize the last point and try applying for the UMed program. that guarantees you a spot in the chicago campus.

hey guys i have an interview @ Chicago campus on wednesday.

i'm a little confused as to where the instructions are for the actual interview day (date/time/location/etc)? i dont know if i deleted the email or was there instructions on the status page? any help appreciated.

Call up admissions to clarify anything you need.

oh i just found the snail mail letter. haha, buried in my box with rejection letters :]

Just got my site assignment today.. i got urbana/peoria. Anyone else get their assignments? If so, did anyone end up with chicago??

So I just got a letter indicating that I've been offered a small merit scholarship by UIC. Has anyone else gotten this? It was a nice surprise, but it says I have to decide whether to accept the scholarship by March 19. I'm still not positive that I'm going to be enrolling, but I assume I can't accept the award and then not matriculate. Hmm, I guess this is advancing my decision timetable a bit.

if anyone else has received a letter regarding a merit scholarship from UIC please post.

thanks

To the OP that received the merit scholarship did you complete the fafsa forms? Thanks
