Uic

Between me, a couple of friends and the lack of a post suggesting otherwise, I'm making the (quick and admittedly optimistic) conclusion that status changes weren't posted today. Its also been posted above that it can take an extra day or two to change. I hate waiting.

hey guys, just wondering....
Unlike most people on this thread, i'm still waiting for an interview from UIC. When I called yesterday for a status check the lady said that my scores were in and that she would enter them either that day or early today. In case she did enter them yesterday, if i'm not offered an interview because my score didn't make the cut, will the status change? right now it says applicant in process, and i know it says that when the adcom has my app. Does it change back to application in progress if you are not offered an interview? Or does it take a few days to change if the scores are entered? Did anyone get offered an interview today form uic? Thanks for the help!

Supposedly it takes a couple days for it to update.

It would go to Final Decision (rejection) or Application in Process (reviewed again later) or Interview.

When were you complete?

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but my status says "Interview dates not yet scheduled." And I see a bunch of interview dates. But I can't click on anything. Also my "Interview Letter date" box is empty. After turning in my secondary, I never received a single e-mail or letter in the mail from UIC saying I was granted an interview or anything. So is this a glitch or something? Does everyone get the list of interview slots page by default? Was the letter lost in the mail, or is the admissions office mocking me and saying "If we wanted to interview you, here's all the slots you could have signed up for. But we actually don't want to interview you at all, lol. Keep waiting and hoping you chump"

Call them to schedule your interview. It's done by phone only. The only notice I ever received was when I saw that my status page changed to that message. Congrats.

Thanks for that! I wish I was more diligent with my status page checks (insert head against wall repeatedly smiley here)

I completely understand, and I don't think it's entirely fair of UIC to "conduct business" like that. They're the only school I've applied to that seems to only notify of an interview via status page. I've heard them say that they do send a follow-up interview invite letter, but I never received one, and I have friends who applied last year who never did either (and in fact, didn't realize they were supposed to check their status page, and thus didn't see the invite until April!). I appreciate the schools that send invite emails. Why make us manic by having to check multiple status pages every day to check for invites?

i got the invite yest. super excited 😀 but i'm guessing the chance of getting placed into the chicago campus is slim to none now...

Actually you still have a decent chance. Don't lose hope. And anyways, I interviewed at the Rockford campus and it's actually very nice. Nice suburb-like location.

I would imagine people scheduling interviews now are late January or February...can you guys confirm? When I interviewed in February last year they said the Chicago campus was full but would have movement etc etc.

Hang on, people waiting for that admissions decision. The fact that nobody's posted a change, I'm sure, means that UIC hasn't changed anybody's yet.

As for the status change to give you an interview thing, yeah that's shady, but it does reward those who are most interested in UIC (and therefore more diligent about checking that status page). You've got to figure that's the angle UIC is going for.

Only problem is, as I joked with somebody yesterday, it makes us completely neurotic when it comes to checking that page--I've set an inteview date and still have found myself about to login to that page out of pure habit!

after the interview they have you fill out a little evaluation and i mentioned that it would be great if they could do e-mail invites.

i did actually get a letter telling me i was invited, but that was about 1-2 weeks after my status changed and i called to schedule.

BAM! status change. about time: A final decision was made on your application on 11-30-07. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

YEA!!! Congratulations!

I called yesterday and they said that I should be receiving something in the mail next week. My status page currently says Application is in Process..

So, what does that mean now?

Just wondering.. seems like the consensus is that this is an acceptance message.. .has ANYONE received this same type of message and NOT been accepted??

I think it's pretty safe to say you're in. Congrats!

Pre-interview? Sorry, but it doesn't sound good.

If it's post interview however, it probably means they put you 'back in the pile.'

When were you complete?

I was complete on 9/11 , i'm not sure if there was some sort of back up during the process but my friend who had his applications sent to the adcom after me got his interview yesterday while mine application results are yet to be entered.

btw does anyone know how this whole point system works? I asked the counselor if there is any sort of cut off for getting an interview and he said no so I'm going to guess its comparative. That means if some people already got an interview am I left out for this time? anyone who knows anything about this? god i'm so scared!
:scared:

If you dont mind me asking, can you post your stats? if you dont want to its completley understandable 🙂

I interviewed in November and my status still says decision pending...Is this a bad sign?

anyone interview this past month and get something DIFFERENT than:

"A final decision was made on your application on 11-30-07. Please allow two-weeks to ...."

and did you guys receive your snailmail letters very soon after seeing this message?

also....

when you send in your requests for the campus... is this a binding agreement that you will be attending the school?

No, sending in the campus selection is not binding with regard to attending their school. You can accept offers at any number of schools and don't need to narrow it down to one until May.

I think my status page changed on 10/26 (friday) and I got the letter on 10/29 (monday). I live in Chicago.

EDIT*

What does the status change to if you haven't been accepted (post-interview).. anyone have prior experience?

If not accepted, the message will remain decision pending and you'll likely get an email and/or snail mail saying you've been waitlisted and will be reviewed again at a later time.

Congrats to this round's acceptances!

i think that if it says 'decision made on' and there is a date it means you got in. if there is no date it means you were rejected pre-interview? i remember reading about that somewhere.

congrats to those of you who got in! go celebrate!😀

If you receive that message pre-interview--date or no date--you're rejected.

Given all experience so far, if you receive that message post-interview before June, you're accepted.

You can receive that message post interview and be rejected, but when it happened to me last year it was without a date, in June, 3 months after my interview (2 months after the admissions committee put me on the waitlist).

As these message changes/acceptances become more and more common, I imagine this will become less of an issue.

Status change for me too! Woooooooooooooo! Congrats to everyone else who is joining me!

You guys should all choose Peoria. I hear it's beautiful this time of year 😉.

I was wondering where you were, Zip. Congrats.

Status change with date here too.

Congrats to those with acceptances!

I had a question related to the "points system" mentioned earlier and if anyone has more info on this. I am patiently waiting and hoping for an interview. All of these posts about acceptances has got me very anxious! I have only been complete for about 2.5 weeks 🙁 so I am sure I am in for a long wait. ANY insight would be greatly appreciated!

When i spoke to the dean of admissions, there is supposedly some equation where they plug in some important numbers and this number travels with your application no matter which evaluator it goes to, then i'm going to guess while your application is getting evaluated you get some more points on top of the points you already have for the scores. I was told there is no cutoffs for interviews so i guess its is based only on a comparison of the pool of applicants. Any part of what i explained might not be true because i pieced this information together from different staff at uic med.

I'm gonna guess you have a good 3-4 week wait before your application even gets looked at, then they say 6-8 weeks for the admission committee to look at your application!

I was complete on 9/11 and supposedly the admission committee has looked at it and my app has returned so thats like 2.5 months from completion and i'm still waiting for an interview!

I've never heard of any points system whatsoever in the decision-making. From what I know, interviews and acceptances are granted on a completely case-by-case, subjective basis.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

And I'm interviewing in Chicago mid-Jan, ZipMedic. So I have a wait in front of me. Hence the attempt to throw everybody off the Chicago-campus scent. Speaking of, I hear that Champaign has a lovely downtown. :meanie:

Status change for me too!!! I was too nervous.. I had to chase my dog down the street cause she decided to go visit her dog friend so I was already out of breath and then I got all nervous cause last year it didn't change.. Probably TMI but that's okay.. Yay!!! Change for me too!!!

I've heard of this points thing secondhand as well. I heard that if you start off as "Applicant in process" then your points are good but if you start as "Application in process" then your points are not so good. Later on you may get shifted from one status to another depending on whether you are under review (Applicant) or not (Application). But this is what someone else told me... who heard it from someone else who heard it supposedly from someone who works at UIC. Not too reliable I guess.

my status didn't change..will i be reviewed again each month? Or will I be put on hold until the end of the cycle?

I'm curious about this too, as that's the position I'm in. I've heard mixed reviews about it, but have not been able to get a definitive answer. I more often hear that we are re-reviewed each month, but I've had no confirmation about it.

If anyone knows for sure, please post! Thanks!

question - any U of I'ers among the status changees?

Anyone know how often people that get rolled into the monthly reviews get accepted after their first post-interview adcom meeting? I'm just trying to get a feel for what my chances of getting accepted in the following months are...

I think you'll receive something via e-mail or snail mail. Once you receive that, give admissions a call. They're usually quite willing to answer questions that aren't, "Did I get in?" 🙂
