one of the best calls from home ever

and here i was almost to make mailmen an exception to the hippocratic oath

I finally get to say that I got the acceptance packet. It actually came in yesterday's mail, but I only realized it today. Whoops...

to those getting packages in the mail, when did you interview?

Which campus did everyone interview at?

Did anyone in this acceptance round have an interview right before the adcom meeting?

My interview is on 12/19, and I really would like to make it to December's adcom meeting, which is traditionally the third Thursday of the month, making it 12/20...

Do you think that they'll postpone this month's adcom meeting due to the later meeting in November and the holidays? Or maybe to include the 12/19 interviewees? Here's hoping... 🙄

Does anyone know for sure the day of the December adcom meeting?

Congrats on your acceptances!!

I'm sure they'll tell you on your interview date when you'll get a decision. If they don't, ask them then. No use in worrying about it right now considering you'll have no control over it anyway. I know how you feel though, I have an interview in Mid-Jan and hope I can make the January Adcom decisions.

Does anyone know the number of people UIC interviews and also the number of people that are accepted?

i could be wrong, but i heard that they interview about 800 and there are 300 seats in the class (but obviously they give out more offers than 300)

anyone hear otherwise?

I interviewed 10/29 at Chicago.

...pulling for you, capri! Tomorrow's got to be the day!

what's the good word Capri? :luck: If you don't receive anything today, I'd call the office and ask them to send you whatever decision they made again.

im about to go park myself downstairs by the mailroom and wait for the mailman. 😕 it should be here soon... hopefully i can get something today.

i read that chicago spots fill up late dec/early jan.. is this a correct assumption? or is it later? will i have any trouble getting a chicago spot if i send in my preferences tomorrow? (assuming i get something today..)

anyone know for sure?

thanks for the support bond/zip

I heard that it doesn't fill 'til mid-Jan/early-Feb. I'm posting mine tomorrow, and crossing my fingers for you today! Hopefully you get some good news. 🙂

my interview is jan 23rd. do you think my app will make it to be reviewed the next day, jan 24th, as that happens to be the last thursday of the month?

I had my interview the day before the October meeting and they said they would not have our files available to the adcom by then so we were in the Nov. meeting, so I will say no, your file will most likely be put into the feb. meeting. Good luck

Any OOS'ers recieve their acceptance packets yet from the Nov 30 status change? Just wondering, how slow can chicago USPS be taking right now?

I called adcoms today (i've called probably every other thursday since i was complete in early sept.) and a counselor told me something i had never heard of before. First of all, I haven't been interviewed yet and my status page said "Applicant in Process" for about 8 weeks and changed to "Application is in process" just yesterday. After having read this thread, I thought i was just being passed over for now, but the counselor said that whether adcoms decided to interview me or not is unknown because "application is in process" just means the decision has not been keyed into their system yet. also, he said that there is no such things as a "re-review". He said they meet once to look over your file and if they like you, they invite you for an interview but otherwise, you're done for the 2008 cycle altogether. I was shocked to hear this but I swear I heard it all right - I called just this afternoon and clarified it over and over with him. Has anybody heard this before? Has anybody gone from "Applicant in process" to "Application is in process" and then got an interview? Or should I prepare to be heartbroken? This process literally is killing me.... i don't eat right and my stomach drops every time I read something negative.. UIC is my first choice and I really just want to get in... someone help me out here. 😕 🙁

I am amazed at this too! Because when I called earlier inquiring about this "re-review", I was told that we will get sent to be reviewed again if our applications return without an invitation for an interview. May be its a recent change in policy. Does anyone else have information regarding this? I remember calling last week and was told that my application should have been sent back from the admission committee by now because it has been there for about 8 weeks now. The counselor just added that he would "send an inquiry". I'm still "applicant in process" and have been for a LOONG time! It is quite frustrating that different counselors give different answers. When i called 2 Thursdays ago, I was told by one counselor that my application was back from the committee and that my results need to be keyed in, but I called back the same day because I saw no change and another counselor said that my application is still with the committee. Well now that i'm done moping..anyone else have any relevant information for those of us who are pre-interview? Any information is appreciated! 🙂

whoOoOOO hahah i sat downstairs while i watched the mailman put all the mail into the boxes and he knew who i was because ive been waiting down there for the past week. so he finally got to my box and walked over and handed me my mail.. saw the big white envelope and almost started jumping up and down. opened the envelope and say the ACCEPTANCE and then went over and shook the mailman's hand... (he looked confused and kinda scared lolz).

finallyyy im in.. just hope i get assigned to chicago. thanks for all the support guys.. see you in the fall hopefully.

btw .. i was OOS (colorado) and was reviewed during the nov. 30 date. good luck to everyone else!!

:hardy::laugh::hardy::laugh::hardy::laugh::hardy:

Congrats, capri!

Hopefully that will be me in one month's time... minus all the extensive waiting of course. Let's just hope Chicago's not full before then... 😛

interviewed back in Nov. NO status change NO mail..not sure what to think

i know i probably wasn't accepted but will i be re-reviewed at the end of the month? Is there any hope?

That's a good question to call and ask them. Phrase it "If the committee doesn't accept us after being reviewed after our interview, are we then reviewed again every month when the committee meets, or at the end of the year?"

Congrats Capri.

And about this worrying about the Chicago campus. You guys need to realize that you're only the 2nd round of acceptances to UIC. Considering they accept about 550-650 the entire year, and the chicago campus is 175 people big, I think you can rest assured that this, and even the end of December meeting's people will all get Chicago campus. January's meeting is where I bet the split happens, and even then people who get the other campuses there will get highest priority for when withdraw movement happens.

But I still hear that rockford looks lovely covered in snow. I recommend all of you choose it. 😉

Class this years is 191 for Chicago...2007 cycle experienced a 25% jump in applications, to over 7000 I think. Those are the updated stats for how many apply etc..don't know the overall accept ratio though, Chi Campus initially filled up sometime in Jan/Feb...there was shuffling of spots afterwards though.

Just got an interview at UIC- and it's my first! I'm so excited! If this could happen to me, then the rest of you should definitely have hope. 🙂

congrats cookie monster! if u dont mind, when were u complete and did ur status change today?

Congratulations, capri! We'll have to party it up in Chicago next year! I think an SDN'ers-turned-U of I-matriculants party is in order. 😉

You've got to decide to go there, PMSM! You look like you have some handsome acceptances there! Congrats!

lol thanks yea I definitely have some tough decisions to make. it almost is stressing me out as much as not having any last year which I find fairly amusing. uic is definitely a tough contender being my home state and all the great things about it

Hi ddbleek685, I've been complete since 9/11, and I saw the invite on my status page (thanks to this thread for the info about no email invites from UIC!). I still haven't received the snail mail letter. I managed to somehow get a Jan date, but right now it looks like they're into the end of Feb. Hope this helps.

For those that have interviewed at UIC, how long did it take for your status page to change to "Decision Pending"? I interviewed on 11/30 and my status page still says "evaluation incomplete"

the adcom meeting was 11/29. my status was updated to "a decision has been made..." on 11/30

That's pretty odd fiji. I'd give them a call tomorrow.

Hey fiji, I interviewed when you did, and my status also says "eval not complete." What gives?

Sounds like one [or more] of your interviewers haven't returned their evaluations. I'd call them as well.

I interviewed on Nov 14..has anyone from this interview day received word on their application? I called today and they said that either "no decision" was made on my application or that my application was not even reviewed yet. Trying to figure out which scenario...

Wow. Maybe your application fell out of the pile for the 11/29 meeting? What does your status page say?

decision pending..i can't believe this i want an answer!

I'd suggest you call back and ask them to verify that your file has not been misplaced. Make sure it's in line to be reviewed. If the person who answers the phone isn't helpful, ask for Garie -- he's a very helpful fellow.

It sounds like you might've been waistlisted--that office tends not to like telling people decisions over the phone which is why you might've gotten that weird response.

Has anybody who got waitlisted on the 11/29 meeting received any correspondence from UIC yet?

i called today as well because i interviewd in nov and it still says decision pending. i was told my application did not reach the committee yet. i dont really know what that means.
