Hi,
This year I've finished a medical school in Poland and in three months I begin my internship, after which I'll receive a full registration at my countrie's medical council. I know from the GMC website that after I pass Polish state exam and finish one year internship in Poland I'll be eligible to apply directly for the F2 posts without completing F1. Can anyone please explain to me the application process for F2? There are tons of website on F1 but very few on F2. All I know is that you have to apply directly to the hospital (there is no national system). How and when should I do that to start F2 in 2013? I would be very grateful for some help here. :help:

Well, the way it works is that most people apply to FY1 and then either get allocated a two year contract for both FY1 and FY2 in the same deanery, or they get FY1 and then get allocated FY2 during the FY1 year.

You will have to enter the training scheme halfway through and basically take whatever jobs are left over. Start looking around December/January for jobs that are vacant, look on the NHS jobs website or the back of the BMJ. You could also try calling up the Foundation Schools to see if they know about any unfilled positions.

even though technically you could apply to F2 this is not recommended - you should apply for a standalone F1 post (which requires full registration), and will then apply for an F2. Have a look at the NHS jobs website from about january of the year you want to start (usually in august), though many jobs do not become available until april or later. It would be much harder for you to start as an F2 as you would be expected to be familiar with the system whereas as an F1 you have the chance to learn all that and the way things are done in the UK. It will also make it easier if you have done both F1 and F2 when applying for specialty training.

good luck!

Thanks guys for the info and support. As I still need to pass IELTS in one month, it will be too late for me to apply for F1 so I guess that I'll see what I can do about F2.

Well, a few years ago I passed CAE with grade A, now I want to go through some test books to IELTS to pass it with 7,5 or over as it's required. Why?

If your english is good, can you get them to waive the IELTS requirement?

Well, I've read on the GMC website that in order to get a full registration by GMC you need to either finish your studies in English or get minimum 7,5 from IELTS in the last two years,

By the way, does anyone know if it's possible to begin stand-alone F2 post not in August but a bit later? Has anyone tried it?
