UMass Acceptances?

I am afraid to go home and check the mail today.... Am I correct in assuming everyone who has gotten the rejection letter still has a status page that reads "The decision regardign your acceptance has not yet been determined'? So nice of them to leave posted when actually it has....:scared:

More evidence that it is totally random, and that they don't necessarily accept the people they claim to be looking for. 😡

Hey Thayer - you should see a lot of waitlist movement from those schools soon. Even if you've sent them already, send them all new LOI's - it can't hurt. If you could get a good new LOR, too, that might help. Good luck!!!

BU had ZERO waitlist movement last year. Hopefully for your sake, the admissions office has figured their **** out. They really messed up last year and overaccepted by 20 something students!
 
So this is frustrating. I just got my mail today(I live in Boston) and no letter from UMass. Any chance a my fate is lost in the mail system!?!?

I'm with you snakypro. Everything on this thread has followed a fairly predictable pattern so far. On the other hand, all hope is not lost until we get something, right! Regardless, lack of optimism is ruining my day! I fully expected a rejection in the mail today. Getting nothing just prolongs the uncertainty just a bit.

Yah, the trends on this forum have been a bunch of hopeful regular posters checking in regularly, and every now & then someone with 2 posts pops in to say, "Hey everyone I just got accepted, my interview was in MONTH!" - (gee thanks for sharing 🙄 )

Anyway guys - maybe you were just at the top of the waitlist and they figured they'd be accepting you soon enough so you haven't heard!

Waitlist letter dated 5/2?!? Now that throws a curveball at us. I guess my skepticism is getting the better of me. Nonetheless, this sucks!
 
I want to look for an apartment in Worcester. I want to find a gym to join, scope out the hiking trails, and check out the night life. But it would be fruitless, as it seems I may never stop waiting.

UMass, you make me want to rip my hair out.

all the best to you too d-bone, and to everyone who has been rejected. if there's one thing the application process has taught me, it's that how we do in this process is not a measure of our worth or of our potential. i have faith that everyone on this thread is going to do amazing things.

all of my fellow waitlistees, hang in there. this too shall pass. i guess. we'll get through this. this is such a competitive process, and i'm sure other people have gone through some variation of the struggle of "i want these people to do well and get into umass because they all seem like good, supportive people....yet i also want to go to umass myself and would kill like 10 people to get in....moral dilemma..." that i go through every time i look at this thread. which by the way is about every 45 seconds. we are all great, and hopefully a large fraction of us will be classmates next year. this would be a lot easier if umass had more than 100 spots.

this extremely sappy message is brought to you by the fact that the one year point of this process is approaching. a year of this!! are you kidding me?? how have we even got this far?

Aww D-Bone! I'm so sorry to hear that. 🙁
I agree with your plan though - there are several states that if you are a resident there, make getting into medical school much easier. Michigan is another one to consider, as is TX, but several states in the south, like FL, seem to be wise choices.
Anyway - good luck to you - this is a tough process, no doubt. :luck:

sappy yes, but I completely agree. I cannot believe it has been this long!

hopefully we'll end up being classmates this august!

After reading this threat for the millionth time, I decided to check my status and found out that I was accepted off of the waitlist. To the best of my knowledge, it happened today, but I haven't checked in a few days.

So, there's definately still hope to those of you still waiting! Good luck to everyone and I hope to see you come August!

Congrats very exciting. I was placed on waitlist 5/2. I don't know what to do to get more info on the waitlist and to maximize my chances. Any suggestions? Should i Keep calling and asking them?

Well, I e-mailed a letter of intent to the assistant dean of admissions, Dr. Paraskos. Also, one of my recommendors contacted someone he knew on the board of admissions again and give another recommendation in my favor.
 
Just withdrew from UMass today. One of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, giving up the tuition and my hometown school, but I think it was the right one. I hope one of you who have been patiently waiting all this time gets my seat. Best of luck to all of you!

For the acceptance, was there a phone call and/or email, or just a status update on Peoplesoft? Congrats!

I checked my status page and saw that it changed. I got the letter a few days later. There was no phone call.
 
I also just withdrew from UMass. It was a very tough call for me. Best of luck to everyone waiting to hear back!!
 
well i tried to stay optimistic but the dreaded rejection has arrived. good luck wlisters.. i will be going to drexel in the fall.. philly here i come!

Nothing here.. but I continue to check my status every 3 minutes! 😱
 
My wife got in!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I could scream. I was checking the status page every 15 minutes for the last 24 painful hours. It says, "We are pleased to grant you admission to the following program(s)."

I got the good news today, too! (via the status page...they don't email or call).

When I saw the same message, I went numb...and then called them to make sure I was in.

hey I just wanted to say congrats to everyone who got in off the waitlist. I'm quite envious of you all and the great medical education (at a nice price).

I was rejected earlier this month, but I'm glad some people got to go to their dream school. 🙂

I got off the waitlist last night too. I called the office to confirm this morning, and they said the letters where being sent out today. Very exciting!

out of curiosity...those of you that got in off the waitlist, what time were you notified and was it just via status page?

i'm really hoping yesterday was not all the movement from the waitlist

This is all based on my shoddy memory. My wife's MCAT was a 26 (don't recall exact breakdown, but it was fairly even across the board...maybe 9, 8, 9)? I think that the writing sample was an O. Her undergrad overall GPA was around 3.57 with the science portion being around 3.7. She is obviously not in the typical "average" with respect to the MCAT score, but I am sure that she stole their hearts during the interview. 😍

Hi, it was approximately 2:30 pm yesterday, 5/17 that the status page updated for my wife. This has been our only notification. I can assume that Mr. Postal Carrier guy is delivering an envelope into our mailbox today.
 
Anyone hear anything recently??? Do they send out waitlist acceptances in batches too??? This is going to be a long summer!
 
seriously! you would think they would have a list ready and waiting of who they were going to call once the may 15th date hit. i wonder if they gave out all of the expected acceptances in one big batch or if the committee is just seriously slow and needs to keep meeting... anyone know anything? 🙁
