Medical here.
@GDTBATH16 Did they give you a reason why you weren't accepted or feedback on what to do to improve your chances?
That’s good you were able to speak with Admissions about what they were looking for. You said you’re doing a post-bac. What is that exactly? I had an overall gpa of 3.2 in undergrad and now I’m in a masters program. Is that the same thing?Yeah, so I was waitlisted but didn't come off of it. After decisions are made, during the Fall those who wanted to had the opportunity to speak with someone from admissions and discuss their application. My problem was my grades unfortunately. This is one of the reasons why I'm trying to do this program, to show I'm academically ready. I'm currently doing a post-bac so hope this helps as well.
I'm medical BTW.

Im dental and OOSHello everyone!! I am waiting as well to hear back from UNC. Good luck to everyone and I’m praying we all get in, especially GDTBATH16!! Who all here is medical or dental? I’m dental.
What is OOS? Wow, I'm sorry to hear about the run around with your school. Hopefully whatever it is will get sorted out sooner than later.Im dental and OOS

So after thinking about it hard, I decided to do another undergraduate degree. So essentially anything done after your first degree is considered post bac. Because of some financial circumstances I decided a grad degree wasn't going to be possible for me. My 1st degree was in biology. So now I'm doing a clinical lab science degree. I'm actually very glad because it's cheaper and I'm receiving scholarships. It's also a great field to fall back on.
.
So you're doing an ENTIRE undergrad degree? another 4 years? After you've already gotten ur Bio. I may be wrong but wouldn't it be faster/easier to just complete a post-bac, masters or special masters program? Yes it's expensive but so id medical school. Is your GPA too low to have any chances?
Heyy! I was told by the program directions that no one would have time to study for an MCAT/DAT at all! They told us to make the decision before applying to the program if whether we would take the MCAT/DAT before or after participating in the program because we would one percent NOT have time to study both.Hi guys,
I also applied to this program, and I’m very anxious to hear back. Have any of you taken the MCAT yet? I’m a junior and I was planning on taking the MCAT this summer, but I’m not sure if that’s realistic with the way the program is set up.

If I get rejected, I plan to study really hard for the DAT again and apply to dental school in June.Getting nervous too haha!
2 Questions for y'all. What are your plans if you get rejected? Are you applying to Med School this cycle as well?
I work in anatomical pathology as a Histotechnologist and it has allowed me great a deal of financial independence that most pre-meds just don’t have.
To GDTBATH16,
Clinical lab science is a great science degree since much of the curriculum overlaps with a Biology degree. Are you doing it at UNC? There’s a one year CLS post-bacc program at Carolinas College of Health Sciences in Charlotte, NC. The pay afterwards is quite comparable to what other allied health professionals get at the bachelor’s level once you get ASCP certified. Also, scheduling for med tech’s can be very flexible. How come the deadline was extended? Was there a low number of applicants, you think?
gotchaDo you mean this year? The extension was because the deadline fell on MLK day and the office was closed. So they realized students wouldn’t be able to turn in their documents.
That’s what I assume BUT it did fall on a holiday.

At this point, I am focused on becoming a General Dentist. This has been long road for my family and I, and I just want to be able to enjoy them for awhile. But maybe.....just maybe, I could see myself as a Periodontist later down the road. In either case, I do want to work as a faculty member at a dental school.Y'all seven more days. @GDTBATH16 I finally know what that means "Great Day to be a Tarheel". Sucks what happened during march madness, but nothing beats virginia's lost. That's going down in the history books
Another question for y'all: What type of Dentist / Physician do you hope to become? My top 3 are Anesthesia, Onco, and FM
