Has anyone heard from UNC's MPH program in the HBHE department? I applied in early December and have not heard anything. When I contacted someone in admissions, all she said was that a decision would be sent between now and April...

No word yet and my submission date was 11/14, I asked them at the beginning on the month and here is what they said,
".The Department of Health Behavior and Health Education sends out our admissions decisions on a rolling basis, beginning in January. Depending on when you submitted your application, you might hear as early as January or as late as April.".

UNC (HBHE) have started releasing decisions. I've been following the gradcafe thread on public health and there's already 1 rejection posted there.
I'm also becoming so impatient (which isn't unusual of me). I also applied to the MCH dept at UNC so I'm as anxious as you.
What worries me most is that of JHSPH. A friend of mine whom I submitted before (30th Nov) has already been accepted. Oh well probably because of my low score.
Let's see how it goes 🙁

I'm so glad there are other people who are interested in this program- UNC doesn't really make much of a splash on SDN from what I can see...Which is a shame, because it's my number one school and I really want to know what's going on with admissions.
Let's keep each other up to date... they said they have down a "few" rounds of admission decisions. Hopefully ours are coming up soon! It is certainly one of my top schools! I heard it has extremely lenient residency standards so given that I am out of state for all schools I applied to, this is appealing!

It's definitely one of the factors that I'm basing my decision on, and (as opposed to a school like Emory) I haven't found much useful information about the availability of research assistant, etc. jobs while taking classes in Chapel Hill.
Let me know what you think. I'd love to get people's input on this.

Wahoo! Now I am really starting to worry. My application was considered complete on 12/9 and I haven't heard anything! Ugh!
I am on the waitlist at UNC - HBHE. I contacted them and they unofficially let me know. They said the process is a bit different for waitlisted applicants and that's why there was a delay! Hope that helps someone! My application was complete on 12-9.

I've heard from my dept (MCH) that financial aid info will most likely be sent out after UNC's Spring Break - so March 12th or after.

I turned in my UNC HBHE application on December 13, 2011. I was made aware that it was complete a few days later. In mid-January I e-mailed the admissions office and was told that my application was still under review and would be reviewed at the end of the month (January) and that I should hear shortly thereafter via e-mail. It is now almost the end of February and I have heard nothing. I e-mailed the office again a couple of weeks ago to check up and I never got a response back. I'm hesitant to bother them again at this point, but if I don't hear by the end of the month I might have to. Maybe I'm waitlisted too? Or maybe they truly haven't made a decision on me. It's frustrating since I had to tell Michigan my final decision by the 18th. I told them no so UNC is the only option I have at this point!
I think it's promising that you are at least waitlisted. It seems like they released their rejections/admissions already for our time period. I bet you are waitlisted... it's probably because they do rolling admissions and they are not sold on us yet, haha! FYI - I graduated with a 3.4ish in college, GRE was 770Q 540V.
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for you hearing ASAP.
Thanks! I'm hoping that I get some decent financial aid- I really don't want to take out $70,000 in loans over the course of 2 years!

So I didn't get into UNC. I have yet to receive any sort of email to tell me to check my status. Instead, I just happened to check on apply yourself and there was a decision link at the very bottom that I almost looked over completely. It still says "congratulations, you have successfully submitted your application etc etc" so that was where I got confused. Anyway, apparently the decision has been available since 2/22. It makes me pretty angry that they made no effort to inform me about this and just let me stumble upon it myself while I have been waiting in agony. I guess I was taking a risk by only applying to one school (deferred Michigan last year, officially told them I wouldn't be attending last week) but I was feeling confident. Silly me. Just gonna try again next year.
Oh no! Bummer. That is ridiculous they didn't send you an email. Maybe you can call Michigan and let them know you changed your mind
