In pursuit of something productive to do over the summer -- I have been scrambling around looking for different programs. I have applied to a handful of research oriented programs. I was wondering if anyone knows of any programs focused on more clinical experience? Pref. in the North East

I am a freshman and I understand I am not a very competitive applicant, but I really to be involved this summer... any ideas on how I could rack up clinical experience?

look around for job postings by clinics, hospitals, etc... you could try and be an emt, though i hear it can take a few months to finish certification depending on the state. also consider looking for clinical research gigs but pay particular attention to the duties you are responsible for because some will just be desk jobs with minimal patient contact.

and in terms of programs, i think vandy has a shadowing one and i believe there are some clinical ones in houston (sorry, cant think of any northeast ones). im sure there are more but those are the ones i can think of atm.

and a lot of research programs include shadowing opportunities. if they do not, im sure it would not be difficult to set up one on your own or through the program if you are doing research at an academic med center.
