so i get this email today from Duke with the title "Your application status is changed" so i think, cool, all my letters came in and my application is under review..... on the way to my expected rejection.
only the email invites me to interview
😱
this was my stretch school. my stats are below their average and it's my first interview. wow, what a way to get fired up for the rest of the application process, not to mention the rest of the semester!

anyway, anybody else headed over there to interview or have a good story about unexpected interviews?

Congrats. I didn't even bother completing Dukes inhumane secondary. You probably did a great job on them, so you got an invite. Good luck!

Congrats on the interview. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for them to review your app before giving you the interview? I know it says it can take more than the 2-3 weeks listed on the status page, but it's going on 4 1/2 for me now...

If you dont mind me asking, what are your stats?

don't mind people asking the stats if it helps anybody.
i submitted my secondary app on 8/20, so it's been about 4 weeks
my stats are 31r mcat, 3.71 overall gpa, 3.68 bcpm, i have a master's degree (non-thesis option) in aerospace engineering from auburn and i've been working in industry for 10 years. white, male.
i've gotten lor's from 2 professors in organic chem, the head of the aerospace eng dept at auburn and the deputy director of medicine at grady (also a professor at emory) whom i met through a shadowing program
my community service history is pretty thin and i've been working full time while completing all my pre-med coursework requirements
i have no research experience but i have worked on development programs in engineering for most of those 10 years

the last few are mentioned because i've read a lot that duke is heavy into community outreach and research

Congrats gdk! You deserve it and obviously Duke saw that in you!!!

As an engineer myself, I know what you've been through trying to do both pre-med and egr.

Much luck to you!
