Univ of Washington Interviews for 2006

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yes I feel fortunate to be in this pool, but this pool is getting colder and colder every day. I need for something drastic to happen. March 1st is the next Wa Meeting.

Maybe something will happen then.

Do you think it may still be early in the day for our status pages to have changed? Has anybody called?

I called. By the time I called 8:40, they updated their data base!

No change for me either...

Its quite crushing to sit and fantasize about a changing status page for days, only to wake up and see the same old "Your application is complete."

+pissed+

I'm done looking forward to these EXCOM meetings, the let down is getting to me each time. I'm just gonna assume that we won't have our final answers until the end of March.

Well, I know someone who got good news today....so they definitely did make decisions on some WA applicants.

An action was taken on my application today, is that a good or bad thing? Who did you guys call to get the information regarding what the change means? Either I won't be checking this forum again or will report back with some good news.

congratulation, it is a good thing, you should call the admission office to check. If you were put in the competitive pool previously, then you are accepted.

Thanks! I just checked about 30 minutes ago, I guess I want to get excited, but until I know for sure I will stay calm. Does anyone know the number and how late you can call.

How does one exactly check the status of an application. I checked for a link on the UW site and I am unsure where to find this? I am an Idaho resident and interviewed last week. Thanks

Thanks!

I wish it had more information, but I guess waiting is just part of the game.

Sorry to be a bummer, but this is not necessarily true. So try not to get your hopes up too high yet. At the meetings, the admissions committee can also remove people from the competitive pool to reject them. However, it is probably good news.

Fortunately, I found out when I called today that I was accepted. Hold on to hope, I have been waiting for 4 months and felt like I had a terrible interview. Good Luck to all!

Alright guys, I hope some of us hear back from UW after tomorrow.
Good luck everyone, it's almost over.

Good luck to all! Anyone else assuming they aren't getting into the UWSOM this year and mentally planning for the alternative...? (For me, that's med. school down in sunny SoCal at Loma Linda! I absolutely loved the school... but it's just not Seattle... sigh...) 🙁

Good luck to everyone! May we finally stop wading in the pool and celebrate our acceptances! (Trying to think positively!) :luck: :luck: :luck:

Has anyone called to verify that they are evaluating Wa applicants. I was kind of under the impression that they were only doing Ak residents today.

If they are dong Wa residents, how soon after an interview does an app get reviewed? I just interviewed yesterday (2-28). Is is to soon hope hope for an action to be taken on my app?

yes, definitely! I'm pretty sure I'll end up going to University of Missouri, but I am still holding out for UW! At this point I've gotten myself so pumped up for Mizzou that I'm rather attached. I will go to UW over Mizzou, but it will still be a somewhat sad and difficult decision. Also, I just want to find out about UW!! There is a Mizzou summer research fellowship that has a deadline of march 17 or something like that, so I CANNOT wait to hear back from UW, the wait is KILLING me!

hey, i interviewed recently, too. at lunch, we were told that the next excom meeting would be wednesday (today) and we should hear back THIS week regarding one of three decisions: yes, no, competitive pool. during one of my interviews, the excom member said if we don't hear back this week, dont' freak out, expect final decisions after the excom 3-day jamboree at the end of march. i was also told that even during the WWAMI state excom meetings, they sometimes finish early and open up the WA resident folders for evaluation...so i guess it could be today or the end of the month or anytime in between. good luck! :luck:

btw, for other OOS applicants...anyone get a final decision yet? i was told they evaluate all OOS applicants together for comparison...does this happen at the very last excom meeting?

Well, here we go again....

9:07am and no change for me. Anyone else?

No change for me either 🙁 Does anyone feel like the nearer we get to final excom meetings, the less hope they have? I mean they have to be accepting someone at these meetings so there are less spots each time. I guess I just remember the let down last year, and I really don't want to do that again. Oh, well here's to waiting... :luck:

Yes, but at the same time, I just keep checking the weather in Southern California and try to get excited about moving there for school. As it turns out, my second choice program (Western University/COMP) is going to send me back up here to the Puget Sound region to do my clinical rotations third and fourth year anyway. So, realistically, I think I will be happy either way.

That helps a little bit, but I still want UW to offer me a seat, and can't feel completely settled until I know where I am going!

As a side note, is anyone obsessing about a specific aspect or moment of the intereview, wondering if that's the reason you haven't yet been accepted?

I expressed a rather strong statement re the "what's wrong with healthcare" question. I don't feel I made my argument clear, and it may have just come across as an unreasoned radical opinion.

We'll just have to see what happens I guess, its out of my hands now!

Iterviewed on Tue, adcom meeting on Wed, notified in the pool this AM. Bummed out but I really feel for you guys that have been in the pool since Oct. The email I recieved said that final decisions would be made by the first week in April. Good luck to all.

Hey, they did admit WA residents yesterday. Someone at my work got in, my status, of course, hasn't changed since November. I have no idea if she came out of the pool or what, but I thought I'd let you guys know.

I cant help but feel like a noose is getting tighter and tighter after every excom meeting.
Blah this process has been the most painful experience (at least that has been institutionalized). :laugh

I hope they dont call it March Madness for nothing...

AFTER EXACTLY 4 MONTHS swimming in the commpetitive pool, my status page finally had changed. SO, don't give up hope yet. I thought that I will go to my second choice school for sure, but got this surprise, so HANG IN THERE, my friends.

According to the interview calendar, the EXCOM will meet again in March 15, and 17, before the 3 consecutive FINAL MEETINGs (March 22-24). GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE STILL IN THE POOL, I HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU AT UW THIS FALL :luck:

Congrats!! Hey Liz and Aspiringdoc, did you guys send in letters of interest or any other form of communication after your interview? I know Liz was asking about it a while back.
