I'm just in my first year... I really couldn't wait to get into pharmacy!!! Of course, I'll be at a disadvantage to students who applied after their second year; they can take some courses in advance, and they pay less per credit for each course they take.

Is anyone free to have a practice session on Monday, the Victoria day? I couldn't make it to today's due to work.. Anyone free, gimme a shout!

Hey everyone, although I am not an applicant to UBC, I would like to say good luck to all of you applying this year for pharmacy! I know you guys are awesome. 😎

well the interviews are about 3 weeks away, I want to organize practice sessions with those who are interested. I think we should meet up regularly several times in the upcoming weeks to practice more often so we will be better prepared.

If you are interested drop me an email at [email protected]

forget the practice sessions, the secret to the interview is to wear a white suit for guys, and a miniskirt paired with platform shoes for girls... maybe add a low-cut V-neck

it shows confidence and an essential understanding that the substance of your words is more important than the content of your wardrobe

i wish i knew this information sooner.. i'm here to help you guys so you dont make the same mistake that i have

if they are following last years schedule.. which so far they have been really close.. we should have it end of the month (was may 29 last year i think)

it appears that they are 1 week earlier than usual this year with regards to invitations and the interviews themselves

i believe this is to allow them more time to process everything because of the larger number of applicants and positions available

so, if this were the case, and assuming that it was sent out on the 29th last year, then they should have sent the emails yesterday (monday)

but i guess they need more time, i'll give them until wednesday

So, I just got my interview time e-mail. Interesting addition to the interviews this year, I must say.

Soooo...how does everyone feel about the new acting station 😱?

Soooo...how does everyone feel about the new acting station 😱?
I think it's cool but it's making me nervous at the same time. It would've been better if the actor himself/herself assessed us instead of someone else sitting there keeping an eye on our interaction with the actor.

I personally think it'll be fun! Of course, keeping a serious tone in mind, but it's always fun to role play

Are the times we're receiving these emails any indication of our rankings?

I got mine at 3:22 PM.

Edit: I'd assume it's by last name -- because I'm pretty close to the end of the alphabets.

I highly doubt what time you recieved your emial indicates your ranking. I recieved mine at 1:04 which doesnt mean anything. My last name starts within the first 10 alphabets so that may have something to do with it. Or maybe because i requested the first weekend interview?

Yeah. I have a late alphabet last name.

But got my email at 1:20.

But I'm on the first weekend. So I'm assuming it goes by interview date?

Haha ouch!

I requested anytime in the afternoon just cause I'm not a morning person, but I know a lot of people who are.

^ 745 <-- that was EXACTLY what i feared, that's why i also requested afternoon

if it were up to me, i would prefer an interview at around 10pm

When's everyone's interview time? Mine is at 9:25 am on Sunday, June 19. I hope I'm not at a huge disadvantage for interviewing on the last day possible. Eeek! Is anyone else freaked out about the "acting" station?!

Do you guys know anyone who has rejected the invitation to the interviews?

there are actually 3 weeks of interviews, the 11/12, 18/19, and 25/26

there is a much higher rate of acceptance for applicants with their interviews on the 3rd week

respond to the interview time email and reject the interview and say that it turns out that you cannot make it to either time
on the first week of interviews, they will email you again and offer you the 25/26 interview dates

good luck

You've got to be trolling us, because I don't buy a single word you're saying.

once a troll.. always a troll  you gotta admire his effort though

Thanks for the comic relief. I actually believed you until I read the later posts!

oh sorry, forgot to mention that you can also skip your interview, and after the 2nd week of interviews, they will offer you the 3rd week interview

not only is the acceptance rate higher, there is also no acting station on this week

i seriously wonder if it's a bad idea to reveal my secrets here, i just don't want to have an unfair advantage

see you guys on the 25/26th!

i highly recommend not prepping because they can tell when you have prepped, it's better to go cold turkey so that they can sense the genuineness of your responses

Farm is all joking. There is no third week for interview. They wont change your date first and second give you hard time and say it is your problem if you can not make it.

You are a good man, good sir. But not to worry, the sarcasm in Optimist's post is laid on pretty thick. He is well aware of the situation.

Anyone in the burnaby-ish area want to meet up for some practice? Shoot me an email (endlessflight at gmail dot com) 😀

does anyone know when they release offers after the interviews??

I think it's about 9-10 days after the last interview date. At least that's what I remember from the e-mail from Margaret confirming the interview times.

Does anyone know approx. how many applicants there were this year?

Or like a general average of past years?

Mine was actually quite a bit sooner than that....more like 5 days after the last interview. But I'm sure it varies a bit from year to year, and this was of course prior to the last increase in class size. Could be sooner than 9-10 days though 🙂
