My interview started at 11:00am. I started with the essay portion first before the faculty interview. How about you?

Congrats! Which group were you in? I interviewed the same day...still waiting for a response.

I have a few questions about rotations, residency matches, and the weather. Can a current student (or someone else with this information) please address them?

1) Rotations:
Where are the possible rotation sites located? Are they all throughout Colorado, or can we choose a different state as well? Also, do students usually stay in one place for the whole P4 year or do you get moved around a lot between rotations? Is there a huge commute for certain locations? Because I know that in Texas, some P4 students have to commute 2 hours if they are in Dallas or Houston and that just sounds like a lot of hassle.

2) Residencies:
What is the residency match rate like, and do most students pursue a residency? I noticed that CU has an emphasis on clinical pharmacy, so I was wondering if most students pursue that career path.

3) Do you guys get blizzards, thunderstorms etc in Aurora? Just wondering because I've only lived in warm climates so this is going to be a change for me. Want to be prepared before I make the move!

Anything would help me out. Thanks a bunch!

1. you rank 40 sites and get 8 sorta of a match lottery. http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/c...tions/Pages/APPERotationSiteDescriptions.aspx

2. Think the national match rate is 60-70 percent. I'd say 1/3-1/2 the students do residencies.

3. Yes, we get blizzards and stuff like that. Had one this past sat/sun. I'm from southern California and the adjustment is possible!

Any suggestions on housing?

If you can afford it, 21 Fitzsimmons is convenient but expensive. If you want something affordable but also close I'd check out copper flats or City Lights. Some other places further out include AMLI at Lowry which is about 10-15 min drive side streets. Wherever you go make sure you find someone to refer so someone gets free money off their rent.

Thank you for answering my questions, puregoldenboy :)
Good to know that adjustment is possible. I am from Texas and have lived in relatively warm climates my whole life, but I am excited about challenging myself even if it is a little unnerving!

Would you say that you have enjoyed your education at this school? Sorry, I know that I am asking a lot of questions but its because I have to make a decision soon and I want to make sure I'm making the right one, especially since I will be paying out-of-state tuition if I choose Colorado.

Yes, I've enjoyed my experiences with the curriculum. Rotations were great. My faculty rotations were really invigorating and made everything come together finally. =p

I just received my acceptance e-mail!! I interviewed on 1/25 and got accepted today. I just wanted to give hope to those who have a low GPA out there. Luckily for me Colorado puts more weight on the interview than other schools. Anyway here are my stats.

Overall GPA 2.7
PCAT 90
Held 2 board positions within my extra curricular activities
1.5 years in community pharmacy
~ 6 months in hospital pharmacy

If you have some weak points in your application, I would suggest really being able to emphasize your passion for pharmacy and knowledge about the field and program. Hope this helps good luck to everyone and although the wait is killer, it just might be worth it in the end.

Congrats! I interviewed on the 18th and I'm still waiting. I don't know if this is a bad thing or not . It was my first interview so I was kinda nervous and quiet :/
Luckily I was already accepted to my #2 school just in case

Looks like they've updated the academic calendar. Classes begin friday, Aug 9th.. Can't wait to meet everyone! ;)

Hey everyone! I received my acceptance email last week, so I figured I should let everyone know. I interviewed 02/15. I'll see everyone in the fall!

Ah, that's great! Congrats! Hopefully, this means I will be finding out my status in the next week or two.

My email came on Tuesday. I'm not sure if they send out acceptances on a certain day of the week, seems like others have received them on Friday's and Monday's.

Congratulations! See you in the fall! There is a Facebook group for the incoming class, although it doesn't seem to be too active yet. So feel free to join anyway.

Thanks! See you in August :D Surprising as this may sound (to probably everyone), I don't have a FB.... but I guess I should get one for networking purposes now!

Can you send me the link to the group? TIA

For current students:

1. Is it feasible to work/intern/research during the first semester? Or should one wait?

2. What is the average cost of renting a single bedroom in a shared place or a 2 bedroom apartment? Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes it's possible. Just a question of how much time you need to study, if you've been out of school awhile or not. Could just work one day a week on weekends to see how you adjust and go from there.

2.I would check the prices out at Copper Flats and City Lights which are very short drive to campus. 21 Fitz is across from campus but much more expensive. Amli at Lowry is a little further out (15mins ish).

I would appreciate it if any current CU SOP students can comment on any or all of the subjects below. I would particularly appreciate any input from P2 students regarding the new Curriculum. Feel free to just make any general comments. I'm sure incoming P1s such as myself would appreciate to hear both the PROs and CONs about the program. Feel free to PM your comments as well. Thanks!

1) How do you feel about the faculty and the amount of academic help they offer?
2) Do you have any other concerns of your own that you'd like to enlighten applicants like myself on?

Anyone here apply to MWU Glendale? I'm having difficulty choosing between that and UC Denver. I like both for different reasons. Such a tough decision :( please help.. Any input is appreciated.

If anyone could answer the post above mine, that would he helpful! I'd like to know too!

Did any of you have issues with getting credits for English composition 1&2? I got AP credits from high school so I only took 1 English class in college.

I got into both too and I'm choosing UC Denver. I feel like they'll better prepare you for residency and you'll probably have an easier time getting one coming from UC Denver. But if you want to go straight into retail go for 3 years and get to working.

I agree with 714, and I would like to add that MWU's tuition is really high too so make sure you factor that in if tuition matters to you! Also, UC Denver is ranked higher, which may be important in your decision too. I did apply there but did declined my interview invitation after I had gotten into Colorado.

Thanks guys! I've been leaning toward Colorado but the 3 year program is very appealing. I interviewed at Colorado 3 weeks before I interviewed at Midwestern, so I really hope to hear back for them first. I'm still waiting for a response from both. *cross fingers*

The tuition is really expensive but you're out making pharmacist wages after 3 years so you're gonna come out on top by skipping that fourth year if that's your plan.

Hello Chiniata, CONGRATS!!!! that is SOOO exciting! I interviewed on 3/15 (the last batch of interviewees) I always knew that CU Denver was a great school, but goodness, I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS SCHOOL!!! I loved the campus, the hospitals, the clinical specialized aspect, the student diversity, the new classroom buildings, and the professors that I met all seemed so nice! I am crossing my fingers, I hope i get good news soon....

congrats again!

Do any of you guys know anything about the early admission process for UOCPS? I am trying to prepare everything and I am just wondering if anyone plans to as well.

How was your interview experience? Any snow? It was 10 degrees when I was there with a lot of snow and ice :mad::thumbdown:

I sent in my paperwork and deposit this week and haven't heard anything back from them. I'm worried because my deadline is 3/22 and I don't want to lose my acceptance here. Does the paperwork have to be there by 3/22 or be postmarked before 3/22?

Anybody here get accepted or know of anyone that got accepted with a PCAT >50% and a very competitive GPA? That is the issue I am facing right now. I will be applying for early admission to UC but didn't hit the 50% recommended mark on my PCAT. My Quant and Biology were around 50% but my chem took me down really far (even though I just graduated with a degree in Chemistry ). Every other aspect of my application is very very strong (GPA, EC, experience, volunteer, LOR from pharmacist, etc) Should I be discouraged about a low PCAT, or what? Need some advice please :)

I think you should be fine. I had the same problem. I emailed them since I was getting nervous about it but everything was fine. The person in charge of handling the paperwork and deposits had the flu when I sent mine in so it took them a little while to get back to me.

Thanks I hope you're right. I left them a message but got nothing back yet.

It has to be Postmarked by the date.

As much as I loved UC Denver, I have decided on another school. Good luck to the rest of you and maybe we'll meet up again sometime in the future! :)

Is anyone still waiting to hear from the school??

I'm still waiting from the 2/15 interview. They told me that since 3/15 was their last interview batch, they'd make decisions after that. If you had an excellent interview, you probably have heard from them. If you didn't do so well, you probably have heard from them as we'll. To those who are still waiting, we're still in consideration, hopefully.

Thanks for this. I was getting really worried because I interviewed 3/1 and haven't heard anything since.

Those who have turned in the deposit, how long did it take before you hear more from the school? Does the school email to let you know they got your deposit? And did you guys all get an official acceptance letter in the mail?

Yes, they do email you once they receive the deposit and no, you wont get an official acceptance letter.. instead they tell you that you should expect your orientation paperwork to arrive sometime in July. After receiving your deposit, it'll probably be a month or so until they assign you a student ID and have an E*Value account set up for you.

Sent my deposit in on the 20th and I still haven't gotten any word from them...

I was waitlisted (interviewed 1/18--my first interview. I was very nervous and QUIET)

I won't be attending though, so good luck to everyone else!!

I just gave up my seat; hopefully one of you guys on the waitlist will get my seat! I really liked this school so I'm sure you will have a great time studying here.
