University of Florida Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Which campus is best to apply to for UF as it asks you on PharmCas is there a difference between the campuses? What is the best campus?

Is it true it is hard to transfer into UF since they accept very little transfers?

There are pros and cons to each location. The Gainesville campus has the professors so if you need to talk to them directly you can. However people say that the other campuses are less saturated with students and are also located near a lot of applicants' homes.

so far I know of only 1 interview cycle (the one for jan 14) .. some people have reschedule their interview to Feb. 18.

has anyone heard from UF COP? 😕😕😕😕😕😕

So would gainesville be best to apply to since it has more students and is the main campus? Haha orlando seems fun though

Like I said, there's no "best" place to apply. Pick what's best for you. You don't get special privileges being in a certain campus.

exactly, there is no privilege. If you are gonna get accepted, you will get accepted no matter what. the campus selection is just a way to make their job easier when assigning campuses. They just want you to study in a place you feel comfortable in.

Just because you say you want to attend the campus here in Gainesville, doesn't increase your chances of getting in.
By the way, make sure you have "reasonable" reasons on why you want to attend certain campus because they WILL ask you.

Best of Luck!!!! 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

We were told that they decide if you are accepted or not before they even look at your ranking form. Everyone is accepted based on the exact same system regardless of what campus they assign you to. They decide to accept you, then they look at your reasons for each campus and assign you to a campus. Of course by "they" I mean the people in admissions.

So, I paid the $30 UF admissions application fee and the $150 pharmcas fee and then submitted the supplemental/campus ranking form. No fee for this? For some reason, I was thinking there was another $60 fee. When I submitted the campus ranking form, I got a page that said 'form was successfully submitted' on the top and then all of my 'text box' entries spit back out at me. Is this what you all got? Just seemed a little odd and I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Sounds right. There is no fee for the campus ranking form.

That makes sense. I thought the campuses functioned separately. Thanks for clarifying.

All of your lectures (if you're from a distance site) are video streamed online, recorded from Gainesville. You all have the exact same curriculum and education.

True, also very few students in gville go to lectures, they also mostly watch them online. Sometimes they aim the camera at the audience and show 3 people in the classroom.

One major class has no live lectures, everyone must watch them online.

For anyone who has already gotten an interview....
How long after submitting your supplemental did you receive an interview invitation? I submitted my supplemental app around 12/18 and am just wondering when I may (or may not) hear back!

Most of my friends, who are in the UF pharm program now, applied just about the same time as me and there was still a good amount of them that got accepted. Don't worry, it's not too late

I was assigned to Orlando campus and my interview will also take place there.

Congrats! I'm going crazy as UF is my number one and I've already been accepted other places and have interviews other places too. If you don't mind saying what were your stats and what campus where you looking at?

I've got a 3.55 gpa and 69 pcat. What do you think my chances of getting an interview is?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated

Hey bwg, I got a 3.5ish, 90 PCAT, UF graduate. I'm not sure what range a competitive PCAT at UF would be but I'm assuming it's around high 70s to 80s+? They are more lenient on the PCAT score if you are a UF undergrad (at least from what I've been hearing). There's also your extracurrics to consider so that can only help. Maybe someone else who's a lot more sure can chime in.

Good luck! hope you get the interview

UF undergrad GPA 2.75-3.0 PCAT 65 and above
FL residents GPA 3.3-up PCAT 70-80
Out state students GPA 3.6-up PCAT 90-up

Hey how was the interview??

The interview wasn't bad at all. The pharmacy student ambassadors really make you feel comfortable and the interviewers were really nice, so if you have an interview invitation--don't stress!

were these interview invitations sent via email or mail??

I applied a looong time ago (october) and never received receipt of anything and still haven't heard from uf 😕

Me too, I'm a UF student =/ I'm very much in the dark.

I did notice interview dates are much later (march and april) for anyone who applied to the st. pete campus like myself so maybe that is why I haven't heard anything yet ? wishful thinking!

I received my interview invitation today! I'm so happy 🙂 I submitted my supplemental on 1/5. I applied to the St Pete campus and my interview is there on March 25.

Got my interview invitation today!!!! So excited!

I had my interview in Gainesville January 14th, but still no word back on acceptance!! They said it would take a week, so I'm not sure what the hold up is. Has anyone else with a completed interview received an acceptance e-mail?

Congrats to everyone on the interviews! I just submitted everything on the 15th and took my PCAT on the 22nd. I'm way late but keeping my fingers crossed. good luck!

Second cycle is right around the corner! (Feb 18th)

Best of luck to those interviewing! 👍

Conditionally admitted to UF COP!!! WOHOO! Good luck to everyone with their future interviews.

Orlando campus! Gainesville was my first choice and Orlando my second, so I still might try to petition to get into Gainesville. But Orlando is a great town with a smaller class size, so I'm still not sure!
