Amazing!! Birds are fascinating. I miss my hens at UGA... I suppose I should make friends with the Disney chickens at Animal Kingdom while I'm here.


I spent three and a half years as an undergrad at UGA and never went on an official tour of the vet school, so I'm going next week. Has anyone been? Do you guys have any questions you want me to ask?
 
My dad met someone at his job today that was telling him about his daughter going to Vet school at UGA. He said that she is going in the fall. My dad said..."uh, I don't think they've heard yet"...to which the guy replied..."Oh yeah..I saw the letter"!! I didn't think UGA notified until mid March?? Did I miss something? 🙁
 
I know of at least one person that got a deferment from last years acceptances. Perhaps this is the case. Im 99% sure they havent sent anything out yet.
 
I talked to Maleek (sp?) in admissions last week. He said we would know on or befor April 15th. That's such a long time to wait! I'm getting nervous. It's my IS school and is the only place that I applied.

We are in the same boat.
Last year, people started to hear around March 11-12. Maybe it will be the same this year.
 
Whatttt???? I was expecting March 15, not APRIL! lol.... this is gonna drive me crazy! Im praying it comes mid march...
 
I think they tell you April so that they won't be inundated with phone calls if they don't make their real mid-March deadline. I think it was two or three years ago that applicants received their letters on April Fool's Day. Last year, it was mid-March. So don't expect to have to wait until April 15th. 😉

A vet. that works at the clinic that I volunteer for, she graduated from UGA and she told me that she received her letter on April Fools Day....Crazy day to get an acceptance or rejection! I would be laughing and say is this a joke:laugh::laugh:!

Are you trying to give me a heart attack!! When I saw you posting for UGA I thought maybe they had sent out the letters!! Not to worry, LVT2DVM...Georgia will be the golden ticket! I have faith!!:luck::xf:
 
LOL...so sorry Bayleevet. Just wanted to bump up the thread. They never send out notices before March 15. You know southern pace and all. hahaha

Good thing someone else has faith; mine is gone. Im not longer praying for an acceptance. Im just praying that all the other DE applicants got full scholarships to other schools. Think that is the only hope for me at this point. :laugh:
 
How many OOS spots does UGA have? I don't know if this is true, so please don't panic (anyone OOS) until somebody who knows for sure posts, but I heard there is just 1!

Last year they only took 1 OOS, however SC has a contract for 17 seats and DE has one for 2 (I believe)

Oh! This is so nerve-wracking! I keep going back and forth between feelings of confidence and then terrible feelings of doubt. :scared:
Whyyyyyy do they have to make us wait so long?!

Okay my turn to rant....

So, does anyone else want to just call up UGA and say "Excuse me but I know your not letting people know anything for another month, but if my application has made its way into the circular bin, can you just tell me now and get it over with"! You just know they've had to have may some initial cuts by now.

Im known for my weird sense of humor, but all thru this process I keep likening the suspense to being in the elementary playground and the popular kids are picking teams for kickball. Its down to me and the kid who eats his boogers... and they pick the other guy FIRST. 😛

LOL. That's probably the best explanation anyone can provide for Georgia's ridiculously long wait time. I'm going to use that next time someone asks me WHY(?!) they make us wait so long. Thanks, LVT! :laugh:

So... seeing as how were getting there- quick question- for acceptances, do they just send out an envelope, or do they call too? And rejections, im guessing just an enevelope?
 
So funny you posted this...I was just talking to my friend who is in the c/o 2012. She said its hard to speculate bc they have a new admissions director this year, so things may change. Last year, notices were mailed on the 12/13th of March. Some people had at least one of their references called before recieving an acceptance but not ALL. (depends on the applicants credentials) Acceptances come in a UGA letterhead 8X10 envelope (unfolder piece of paper size). Waitlist and rejections come in a business style envelope. Unless they change things well be all stalking the mailman. Although I sincerely hope they send out emails or do phone calls this year. But it wouldnt be typical. Good luck everyone. I hate to be cynical but Im pretty sure I dont have a chance. I just want to get this cycle over and done with. UGA is my last pending.
 
They are definitely calling the references around now. One of my references let me know that they called her TODAY. Getting closer....
 
With decisions coming in the next few weeks. I thought it would be nice to hear who all is waiting. We did this last year. Its fun to see who you classmates might be. Let us know if your IS or OSS. If your OSS contract, which contract state? Also if you've had you refs called that would be good to know. Lurkers dont be shy.

Im waiting.... not so patiently anymore... Lol. This is my IS, and the only school I applied to this year. Im sorta a year ahead, so wont be a huge blow if I dont get in, but I will def be upset. Havent had any refs tell me theyve been called yet, but gonna see a few of them this weekend, so ill be sure to ask! lol. Good luck!
 
Hi I was just wondering do they always call your references? Like if one of my references doesn't get called, does that mean that I am probably not getting in? Sorry I am just getting worried and I hate waiting!! Also do they usually call just one of your references or all?
 
I just got a call from the University . . . Ms. Cloud advised me that they were just contacting some of the at-large applicant pool. For a school that doesn't interview, the conversation was remarkably like an interview. She asked me why they should consider me specifically, and then followed up with some questions about my background, why I was applying to UGA, and also where UGA ranked on my list.

Very strange. I'm not sure if they've called any of my references yet . . . i.e., any of the folks who wrote recs for me.
 
I do not think the calling of a reference is a clear cut of are you in or are you out. It could be that they would like a little more information about you personally or professionally before they make a final decision, or it could be because you are on the fence and they might need a push in one direction or the other, after all, a month is a long way to go.

In no way by my reference getting a call do I feel like definitely accepted, I just look at it as still being considered...so no, if your reference does not get a call, it could be because your app was awesome and you didn't need any extra help.

I would not take this as a sign to obsessively call your refs worrying or take too much heart from it either. IMO

I mean, my very last hope is kind of frazzled now...I don't need to get myself all excited lol

That is really weird that Tracia Cloud would call. I thought it would be Malik if anyone called. And those questions sound kind of borderline legal... I don't know what to think of that. But it sounds like they're definitely still considering you, which would certainly encourage me!

That's true. One of the advisors in my undergrad department at UGA said that the previous admissions counselor (Teresa McClure) would call him when she was making final decisions on some of his students. She would listen closely to his opinion--whether it was good or bad--and a lot of times he could sway her to let in a borderline student. I don't know if that's going to be Malik's style, but it certainly can't be a bad sign if they're calling your references!

Dont think we ever determined this for IS, but if you look back in this thread from last year, I think all the OS people (on SDN) who were accepted had at least one of their references called. I didnt...I got rejected, but the year before that, they called my boss and I still got rejected so who knows. Again....love the mystery.

Wow, only 6 of us..hopefully more will pop up later.

Bayleevet2B, just wanted to say, I think your stats are pretty stellar. I think you have a real good shot. Good luck.

You're not the only one. I think we all are getting impatient and second guessing ourselves, so it's good we can see where others stand. I know it makes me feel better.

I've sort of been avoiding SDN. Everytime I check it (which was like 15 times a day) I was dying a little inside.
 
One my references just got called today! It was at the vet office that I work at. It so weird how it happened because I worked there this morning and asked if uga had called. Then later at about 3 the doctor called and told me they called! Hopefully we'll hear pretty soon :xf:
