This is my second PCAT and I'm not super thrilled with the results

I didn't really study much for the verbal, but Kaplan gave me some good strategies. Kaplan was the only book I used and it was a mistake especially for the math portion.

My first one was 52, but that was before I had Bio, Ochem, micro, and stats.

I'm scheduled to take it a third time in October.

I don't know if I'll have to prove those hours. I hope not, because that would take a lot of gathering of paperwork.

Honestly if u have already been called for interview then i dont think u should retake the pcat ....

I wish I felt the same. Until I get that acceptance letter, I don't think I'll be satisfied with that score. UHCOP is truly the only school I want to consider and if they defer me to regular decision, I want to have a better score.

UH for ED, but if they defer me, I'll probably apply to tech and tsu. What about you? Which schools are you applying to?

ED all the way, why bother apping to all those other schools if you can get an acceptance decision latest by end of Oct.
Waste of $ and waste of effort.

Uh is my first choice but i didnt do well in my first pcat so i am retaking again.. dat means i have to apply to a lot of schools now... Goodluck to those who have been called for interviews...pls dont forget to share tips from the interview for those of us who will hopefully be called for an interview 🙂

I have a question for the people who have turned in their supplemental app. What did you do when you filled it out, did you do it online? Or did you print it out, fill it out and email it to them? Because I was going to do the first, but whenever I clicked submit, it wouldn't go through...

Also, did you guys send AP scores to UH, because I'm not sure if I need to do that

Printed out the supplemental app and personally turned it in at the SR2 building.

I mailed mine along with a copy of my transcript for AP scores but they ended up not needing it. If you go to UH they shouldn't need the AP scores since it is already on file but if you go somewhere else, you should email them and ask if you need to provide a transcript for AP scores.

Yeah I don't go there, so I just emailed them and asked

Filled it out on pdf, printed it out, scanned it in, attached and emailed.

Best of luck to you all

I'm doing research on what the school's motto etc is, and knowing a bit of history behind them.
Also preparing the basic questions they might ask you, and staying calm and collected about it.

Nice idea about the motto. I wouldn't have thought of that. I'm researching the areas where I think pharmacy will be most impacted in the future in addition to the basic questions.

Can't say that I'm exactly calm and cool about it though. Little bit nervous over here. This is my first interview for a PharmD program.

my first interview as well. getting a response ready for anything that may be thrown at me that day

How are you preparing for the interview?

Just going over the pre-interview questions, my personal statement, and thinking about my true future goals. There's nothing better than a really honest answer that shows you've really put in thought about your future and you really know what you're doing!

For those of you that are going to the Oct 10th interview, what time did you get assigned to? I have to be there at 7:40 am.

11:43am, looks like I got the better end of that deal lol

I hope I can get accepted to University of Houston next Fall....my stats aren't too good but I'm still hoping to get lucky. I know they are big on in state applicants as well. I'm applying from Florida.
PCAT=78% Writing 4
GPA Overall 3.11
Science and Math GPA 2.6
Four letters of recommendation (3 from pharmacists)
Work experience and volunteering

You guys think I could get an interview???

Is anyone else having trouble saving the pre-interview questions as a PDF file?

Also, for interview day, can anyone recommend public transportation from Kingwood to TMC? I know that Houston has a rail system, but I'm not sure how far out it goes. I'm trying to avoid renting a car and I'm staying with a friend in Kingwood.

I used pdfescape.com to fill in the text and bubbles. I saved and downloaded the completed version from there.

When is your pre-interview questionnaire due and what are you planning on wearing to the interview? I live in Kingwood and there is a metro station on West Lake Houston parkway. You can take 255 to downtown. Get off at McKinney @ Main. Then take 001 to Cambridge @ McGregor and the school is right there about a block away. This is just the bus route. I'm not too familiar with the rail system. Metro takes forever though going through downtown and such so I would recommend that you leave like 1.5-2 hours before your interview time. If you're not too familiar with the metro system, you can pay cash (you don't get any change so bring dollars and quarters) or if you/your friend has a qcard, you can add money at the kingwood park and ride.

Thank you very much! I may just rent a car if it takes that long.

My questionnaire is due tomorrow by 3:00 pm.

I bought a very nice business pant suit to wear.

Aww man! Mine was due on Thursday! Haha I was like freaking out doing it really fast. If you decide to drive, avoid 59 from downtown to 288. Try and take the feeder or go through downtown. I'm taking some streets to go through downtown because that area of 59 is absolute CHAOS in the mornings.

Hope to see you there bright and early!

That's weird! I wonder why ours were due on different days. I received mine on Monday the 22nd.

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it. I can't wait to meet everyone!

I got mine on Thursday, the 18th, so I guess they give you a week to fill it out.

I'm going to be honest here: your math and science GPA is pretty low for UH. Everything else is pretty much on target. If you could bring that up by retaking classes you didn't do well in, then you would have a good shot at an interview! If you are applying next fall for entrance in 2016, you still have a whole year and half to bring that up. UH averages any repeated classes so if let's say you got a C in orgo 2, then retook and got an A, it averages out to a B which would improve that GPA a lot!!! Keep up the volunteering and pharmacy work experience because UH heavily looks at that on top of PCAT and GPA. Your PCAT is pretty good so no worries there. And your overall GPA is good too.

Good Luck!

Did you get a confirmation email that they received your pre-interview documents? I'm panicking that they won't be able to open it and read it.

They sent me a confirmation email on the 26th ( I sent mine on the 24th, it was due 25th). I was also afraid they wouldn't be able to read it so I also sent it to my brother who has a PC and said he could open and read it.

No I never got a confirmation email from them and I turned mine in on Wednesday the 24th.

What did the confirmation email say? I never got one and I turned mine in on the same day. I did the same thing and opened it from another PC so that I could see if they could open it.

It basically said thank you for sending it and they'll give it to the interviewers. Earlier that day I got the email with the arrival time.

Ahh okay thanks! They sent my confirmation email this morning and it went to my junk box.

Still no confirmation email for me. I'm worried because my email was hacked for the second time throughout this app process. They had a problem with my emails going to their junk folder. I don't want to change my email until after this is all over with because I don't want there to be any confusion.

Thanks for telling me truth and stilll giving me encouragement....I mean its worth a shot so lets see.....I just applied lets see what happens.....

Another question I have is, say you get accepted to UH or any other Pharmacy school....how long do you have to accept their offer and make a payment before they move on to another candidate?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it is one week to put in the $400 deposit.
