I think you will need a car. Though, I also think most people will eventually carpool b/c I don't know how the Westbrook campus can accommodate 100 cars for COP students plus the students they have currently attending. When I was up there for my interview, I rented a car and drove around a little to get a feel for the area. The one thing I can say for sure is that they aren't too big on public transportation as compared to NY and Boston. Also, the area seemed "very rural" and sidewalks are next to nonexistent in some areas...... However, the big plus I have noticed is that I found 4 apartment communities (Bayside being one of them) that are a very short distance from campus.

I know this maybe premature seeing that we won't know anything about UNECOP's accreditation status until some time in June or July, but have you already put a deposit on Bayside??? Personally, I'm waiting until July before I put any form of deposit down anywhere. Plus I'm still waiting to hear back for another school I interviewed at. However, I do think it is a good idea for trying to find roommates and/or affordable places to live in the meantime.

no i dont think its premature, the impression i got during my interview about UNE was close to perfect, i dont see why the school would invest in a multi-million, ie. c.o.p building, and not be certain it will get the accreditation. the only part thats bad for students is the wait until june/july for the notice, and no im waiting until my finals are over next week before i begin to put down my deposit, but im sure ill do it well the accreditation.

I have to agree with your posting. They're a prestigious regional university.
They've been given a unanimous OK from the Maine State Board of Education and is accredited in the region for higher education. I'm looking for some roommates at Bayside too? But has anyone sealed the deal and placed a deposit and were you able to negotiate a price with the leasing office?

So i called to give the $500 deposit and I got the receipt within a couple days in the mail. Can someone tell me the different housing options that are near the campus? I know bayside is like 2.5 miles away according to mapquest. and they offer 4 bedroom apartments, any idea about how much it costs? are there still plenty of rooms available> does anyone know of anything that is closer to campus?

I am still waiting until after June to put a deposite down, but the "current" rate is $650 and it includes all utilities, cable, internet, and furniture.

Are you planning to walk to school? Idk anything closer, however Tamerlane is about the same distance but much more expensive ($780-$1080 w/o utilities and unfurnished)

looking at the schools you've applied to, i just want to first say, wow, your a brave soul coming from HOT as H*** TX to brave the brutal maine weather. that being said, i've looked at about 20+ listings in the area and bayside is the least expensive when all costs are incorporated. there should still be plenty of room, considering other posts i've read on here where people have said that UNE has requested 100+ rooms for its COP students, so you should be fine...see you in freezing maine in september

can someone make a fb group for une cop, i would but i just joined fb a few days ago and have no idea where to begin

Anyone here get the scholarship......?

lol hahah yeaa i know! its gonna be freezingg!! but i lived in new york for half my life.. born and raised there pretty much but just been in houston for the last 8 or so years.. but honestly i think i like the cold weather better.. i hateee sweatingg and bein nasty here lol
i know i got one person who sent me a message about being a possible roommate at bayside and i guess i just need 2 more girls... we're mainly trying to find quiet, clean girls so if ur interested send me a message and we can figure it out from there =)
oh and btw the $500 deposit i was talkin about was not for bayside, it was for une... sorry if i confused anyone...
i'll try to start a facebook group for une c/o 2013 and i'll post it on here once i make it..
and i did receive the scholarship letter a while back... i know someone was askin about it..

also, regarding the CPR class...

Hi,
The Professional Rescuer course for Healthcare providers is the correct
course to take. I apologize for any confusion regarding this. The
course should include the following:
CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers: certification is recognized by the
Red Cross for one year and appropriate for those with a duty to respond
such as lifeguards, first responders, etc. and including the following:

● Unresponsive victim assessment
● Assessing a conscious victim
● Conscious choking (Adult, Child & Infant)
● Shock
● One rescuer CPR (Adult, Child & Infant)
● Unconscious choking
● Use of an AED (Adult & Child)
● Two rescuer CPR
● Use of Breathing Mask & Bag Valve Mask

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best Regards,
Janel

so, we don't need the advanced first aid? Just CPR/AED for adults, children, and infants? I ask this b/c Ms. Redman approved my BLS certification and said all I have to take is Ad First AID....

well according to the email she sent me... it seems that we dont need to take first aid...
she said she had to check with the department b4 she even sent me that email n im def gonna keep that email if any problems arise from it bc she specifically told me that that class will be sufficient

Tks, I am gonna copy your post of the email and save it in my files just in case. You just saved me 4 boring hours of more training 😀

I just found out that we have to have all our immunizations and physicals completed and submitted to UNE by July.

Yeah! It's new to me too?! Wow there's a lot to do before the summer ends: CPR Training and now a physical, medical, immunization forms. Hey BeautifulDay - when are you heading up to Maine?

does anyone know how to get in touch with pre-pharms at une...I feel like they can contribute greatly to this message board

oh wow thanks for that health information
i wonder why they havent sent anything to us about the school
the last thing i got from them was askin for some info for financial aid
nothing about their health insurance, housing, etc...

Move over. Im on board too, just got accepted tolday!

Yea! another Floridian got in:soexcited::soexcited::soexcited:
Were you initially on the waitlist and then pulled off, or you just found out you were accepted??

Are you still going to Sullivan?

Was on the the waitlist got pulled today! Where should I go?

Sullivan crams pharmacy into 3 years in a difficult accelerated program, but is about to have candidate status. UNE does the norm. and comlpletes pharmacy in 4 years, but does not have any ACPE status? Any suggestions?

well they will most likely receieve their status within the next month or so and i think pharmacy school is hard enough and to cram it into 3 years seems a little tough to me.. personally i would go with une but obviously u have to do what u feel is best for u

did anyone receive tuition payment plans from sallie mae, sounds like a great deal, no interest on the loans, just need 40,000 over 10 months:scared:

Congrats MDLFSU08! so were you on the wait list then just got pulled off today? Do you know where you rank on the waiting list? How did they notify your acceptance? Thanks, I was placed on the wait list as well. Hoping to get pull off soon.

They did not inform me of being ranked on the waitlist janel redman gave me and offered me a seat. I would assume according to SDN that I was in the top choices(if it was ranked).

Have you already put in your deposit for Sullivan? Anyhow, to answer your question I would go to the school that best fits "your" needs. I have a friend who is in a 3 year pharmacy program (I think the school is in Nevada or something) and although she had finals 3 days before Christmas day last year, no summer breaks, and classes on the weekend; she swears it was the best decision of her life. Going to school year round fits "her" needs: "to get over w/ pharmacy school as soon as possible." If I had the opportunity I would go to the 3 year school for that very reason. Though, after I graduate I would immediately pursue a PhD in pharmaceutical science b/c that is what "I" ultimately want to do. A three year COP program would fit "my" needs b/c it would shave a year off the time I would need to apply for a PhD program. So pick the school you think would best fit "your" needs…

yup i received that letter today
i didnt really understand what that was all about..
are they talking about what i have to pay out of pocket?
and wat is this $40,000 u speak of?

look on the back page, lower left,

theres tutition at about 27k
housing at 10k to 12500k
health insurance tba

and general fee just for fall at 700

add high end of housing just in case, so we're roughly talking about 40k, and if you apply before june then u get 10 payment without interest, so roughly 4k a month,

Thanks 09M3 i just worry because it will be very fast paced and I question whether or not I will be learning the necessary material in order to take the boards. I guess Im just kind of scared because I know it will be tough.

hi everyone, i just found sdn and i wanted to say hi to everyone who will be attending une in the fall...🙂
