I have an interview date on the 10th of this month, next Friday. Would anyone like to share a motel or hotel room?

Just got invited; will be attending on April 17. Does anybody else is going to attend on that day?

I will. 8am-12pm is the interview time. Do you know anywhere fun to go in Maine? imma plan to stay there for 3 days if it's worth it.

how old will you be when u attend UNE in the fall, me: 21

Well, I'm not from there...I from Georgia, but I will arrive there on the 16th and leave the 18th. I also have 8am-12pm session as well.

Im from so cal, plane tickets are $600-$700. this is a big investment. anyone know anywhere fun around the area?

Hopefully If I get In, I will need a place. Im interviewing April 3rd as well! Anyone staying at the La Quinta?

I'll be staying at La Quinta Inn. I just reserved a room a few minutes ago after I changed my mind about staying at Clarion Hotel. For those of you who haven't booked a hotel room yet, La Quinta offers complimentary shuttle service from the Amtrak station and JetPort if call them beforehand from 4:30a-10:30p. Their rate is $67 with AAA discount, which isn't too bad. Econo Lodge and Days Inn both have bad reviews, but their rates are $50.

Yea, the price went up to $700 when I last checked it, so I decided to fly to and from Boston Logan. I'm going to take the Concord Trailway from the airport to Portland for $39 roundtrip with the student discount. Fun...hmm...besides the fact that they have a mall nearby my hotel, I know they have lighthouses? Well according to TripAdvisor, they have scenic duck tours, Eagle Island tours, Victoria Mansion, etc...but be sure to try out their lobsters! Too bad I won't stay there long! I'll probably arrive there by 9pm at the earliest and will leave immediately after the interview back to Boston. I guess I can do some sightseeing on the bus then.

Congrats on getting your invitation! I'll be there on the 10th though.

How can u know soo many places and not go. I will have one day there, if you were going to go to one place, what would it be. Im also going to spend a few hours fishing there. I have to =).

Also, what are u using to travel from boston to porland? how long will it take? because the new Virgin america airline will take u to boston for a cheap price.

Anybody familiar with "Comfort Inn Airport?" that where I'm staying at. I plan to take a taxi service. Does anyone know they have good taxi service in Maine. This is my first time, so don't know much about it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Does anyone know the rate also for the taxi service. Im planning to rent a car to have more freedom on my schedule and where i want to go. car rental is pretty cheap (~$28-30) per day. Im under 25 so i have to pay $25 additional per day. Still beats taxi services.

Would anyone who has been invited for an interview and/or accepted mind sharing their stats or posting about research or pharm tech experience? I have no tech experience. I would like to have some kind of idea of what UNE is looking for in a student. Thanks!

Really? Where did you get the $28-30 per day? The cheapest I've found was $61 with 20% discount included. I was planning on taking the taxi only from the hotel to campus and back to Portland Transportation Center.

If I were to visit one place for a day, I'd probably take a cruise tour around the area and check out their lighthouses and just enjoy doing some sightseeing. I need to relax, especially after my last interview of the application cycle (yea, I don't think I'm going to get any more invites from now on). I'm going to use the Concord Trailway bus to get there from Boston Logan to Portland Transportation Center. It's $39/RT with your student ID. Will you be flying out from LAX or SNA?

dude 61 is way too much. Im crying about my $28+$25 charge right now. i went on alamo car rental. There's also others when i book my flight. I booked it on cheaptickets.com or cheapflights.com i forgot which ones but there's car rental on their websites too.

Hey guys can anyone help me answer this question. Did we have to answer a supplemental essay question when we apply to new england? I completely forgot

I just got my acceptance letter 🙂 I am so excited!

Congrats star5156 when did you interview and how did they notify your acceptance email, mail, or both?

Thanks! I interviewed on the 27th and received the acceptance via regular mail. It was dated the 1st so they seem to decide quickly.

Thanks. Good luck on yours. I don't have much time to prepare, since I'm going to be gone for Belmont right before this interview.

i got an interview for april 10th......fingers crossed...don't know where am staying yet and don't know how i will get around......😕

just rent a car. NOt that expensive. I bet it's cheaper than a taxi anyways. Thank God my friend works at a 4 stars hotel here so he's goign to give me a discount in maine. HE's going to give me a room for $50 and it's worth $250 per night. LUXURY

ive been accepted and i found this out after my interview, 2 ways, both cheap,

if you work at walgreens, book at the la quinta inn, (theres a savings of 25%, when u log onto your account in: employee.walgreens.com and go Benefit Extras, then employee purchase program and book online) call the hotel to pick u up from the airport to the hotel, take a cab from the hotel to UNE, exactly $9.70 each way)

if you dont work at walgreens use AAA or bring ur student id card at la quinta inn for 10%, not as flashy but i got a one night stay for 52.00 with tax.

good luck to those still waiting and those whose who have already interviewed

I interviewed the 27th. Accepted on the 1st

Remember.. UNE has about 50-60 pre-pharm students who are eligible for pharm school next year. They obviously aren't going to kick out their own students...Which means there are really only 40-50 slots open...

They received over 800 applicants and are interviewing 200 for 100 seats.. so even getting an interview is a good thing just be patient

I interviewed on March 20th, got accepted on March 25th - but will not be attending UNE as I was also accepted to another school USN a couple days before that.

Stats - 3.5 GPA
3.6 Science GPA
82 composite on the PCAT

Best of luck to everyone waiting - 1 more slot just opened up

For those who knows about this schoool, would Oli13 be considered as average candidate or competitive.

i think because this is their first year accepting pharm students, the school doesnt really have any set standards yet as to what they consider competitive. for established pharmacy schools i would say his stats are fairly good, better than mine anyways, and i received an interview at UNE as well. i ultimately declined due to acceptance elsewhere. keep in mind that you have to look good on paper and be a well rounded applicant. once you make it to the interview i think they are looking at you as a person and to see if you fit their program. from what i've heard this school is very big on research. so im sure if your stats are low but your experience in research is impressive they would still consider you.

I'll be making my way to Portland early morning tomorrow, so I'm just packing my stuff right now. So, for the AM interview session, we can show up anytime between 8-9AM right? I just want to make sure here.

You guys all realize that this school is NOT ACCREDITED OR IN THE PROCESS, right? Don't forget the Hawaii school...there is a LARGE chance that the school will not receive accreditation and you will all be SOL of your money. I would not attend this school for any reason! It's better to wait a year and reapply than be out a solid 40k!

Sorry but that's an ignorant statement to make because there's a HUGE difference between UNE and HICP. HICP was a stand-alone school and that school enrolled its students and proceeded to teach before it received its pre-candidate status. UNE is already an established university and because of the HICP mess, a school cannot seat its students until it first receives its pre-candidate status. You think the ACPE didn't learn anything from the HICP debacle? 🙄

The only foolish thing prospective students can do is arrange housing before receiving news of their accreditation status. Do you think Regis and NDM waited until they received pre-candidate status to start their interviewing process?

Anyone one from the april 3rd interview? If so when do you think people should recieve letters?

Not sure what you don't care about. If you really don't care about this topic, you wouldn't have responded to my post and advocate "tougher standards to get into pharmacy school".

Anyways, New Schools do have high standards too. Just like any other pharmacy schools, they rarely accept students below a 3.0 and below a 70 PCAT composite score.

And if they do make an exception to the rule, it's usually an applicant with a low GPA (>2.8) and an extremely high PCAT (>80s or >90s) or average PCAT (50s, 60s, PCAT) and a high GPA (>3.5)

This is the trend I've observed. Most of us know the standards to getting into pharmacy school will only get tougher...and it should be no different for the university of new england.
I totally agree. Husson University School of Pharmacy, www.husson.edu/pharmacy, is also a new school in Maine that is going for pre-candidate status to admit their first class this year. New schools actually have to be quite selective due to attrition rates being a key factor that is analyzed for full accreditaion.

I have also seen some interviewees with low gpa and low pcat. Im wondering why those people were invited. Just for fun?

Chances are something in their application stood out. A school like UNE has the opportunity to see what students are out there to see if there's a potentially great future pharmacist that may have been overlooked, yet to find a right match for a school, or even still searching for other options.

good luck cinnamin on ur interview tomorrow.

Tell me how's the weather when u come back !

Tell me how's the weather when u come back !

I'm currently in Boston waiting for my flight back home. The weather is actually very nice today, however I heard that it's going to rain tomorrow. I'd say the temp was in the 60s when I had my interview this morning. The interview process was laid back, so don't worry too much about it. I realized that we didn't have to write an essay, so that was good. Pretty much, we listened to some presentations at the beginning about the school and curriculum, took a tour of the small campus (saw the pharmacy bldg that they're working on right now), and had lots of free time to mingle with other interviewees before and after the interview (we were broken into groups, so we did these activities in different orders).

For those others that have submitted a deposit , have they sent you a receipt/confirmation yet? My account shows that they haven't taken it out yet...

I received a confirmation email the next day, but it took 4-5 days before it was taken out of my account.

Does anyone know any good areas in Westbrook or Portland to live in? I would like to live somewhere close to areas where there is a lot to do....and if there is any time while in school...places to go out once in a while. Any tips on areas to avoid etc. ? Any suggestions are appreciated!

hey im stuck in the same position as you...i know that Old Port is the place to relax and its about 10 minutes from Stevens, still looking for a place, might end up in a dorm

Haha, dumbest post ever. Time to go read up on what accreditation means. If this school doesn't get accreditation, students are out interview & application costs/expenses.

I have an interview date on April 24. I'm planning to fly to Boston and take the bus to Portland. Would anyone like to meet up at the airport and travel together?

Has anyone still... not heard anything? Has anyone gotten a rejection letter? The last thing I recieved was the "thanks for your applicaion... check out our accreditation status report!" email. I find it strange that they haven't atleast rejected me yet!

Shelabo...dont worry they are still reviewing your application. I took them a while after I recieved that email to get an interview. Also alot of people have had the problem of UNE stating that they sent an email and they haven't heard from you about an interview offer. So they email you agian with interview dates. Call them and check the status to make sure a email that may have been sent to you was or wasn't "lost".
