Hey everyone!

I saw some people were looking to contact the pre-pharm students at UNE for questions.
Just thought I'd throw it out there for everyone who lives far away and might have questions!

Hey everyone!

I saw some people were looking to contact the pre-pharm students at UNE for questions. I wasn't a pre-pharm student, but I did graduate from UNE's campus in biddeford (the same one the pre pharm's are on) a couple years ago and was accepted to the pharmD program so if anyone has any specific questions about the school or area, I will do my best to help answer or find out for you!

hey guys,
I have a question concerning the CPR/AED classes. Which one of these courses below is the correct one to take? Thanks.

CPR for the Professional Rescuer (with AED) (10-hrs)
Course teaches the professional rescuer to perform two-person CPR, how to use breathing devices and steps for minimizing the risks of disease transmission in emergency situations. Participants will also be trained on the Automated External Defibrillation (AED) equipment to help sustain life before medical help arrives.

Adult CPR with First Aid and AED (8-hrs)
Learn to treat victims of accidental injuries or sudden illnesses who need immediate care. Includes Adult CPR and how to use Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as a citizen responder.

Adult CPR with AED (4½-hrs)
Learn to identify and care for adults who are experiencing breathing emergencies, heart attacks or cardiac arrest. Learn use of the EMS system and information on healthy lifestyles and heart disease prevention. Includes training on how to recognize when defibrillation is appropriate, and how defibrillation works and steps for using the AED equipment.

Wow, I got a surprise call this morning that they are considering me for the inaugural class although I have gotten rejected after the interview.

...i got accepted today morning???? !!!!! have three weeks to get everything done and find housing etc etc......not even sure where to start

I guess there must be a lot of people declined the offer. I really like UNE, I got accepted back in June, but then I decided not to go because I got accepted to Sullivan very last minute. Good luck everyone!

I got a call today as well, I have no idea what to do, school starts in less than 3 weeks. I wonder if its even worth finding a place now. Any luck?

what is unique about this school?

Their founding dean (John Cormier) left immediately after the school was granted precandidate status in June 2009.

That's pretty unique if you ask me...

same with this new cncp school out in california...some guy from UOP left immediately after the school was founded or something, and subsequently they were delayed getting candidate status while every other school that opened the same time got it with flying colors earlier.

so not really unique, 297point1 😎

how will this affect the school?

I wouldn't really consider this school a degree mill. They have the state's only medical school.

I don't know anything about it. There are just too many private schools popping up...especially all the religiously affiliated ones.

Yeah soon they'll start having WWJD questions on the supplemental essays. 😱

Despite my best attempts, I was unable to persuade our admissions committee to ask applicants "What would Jack Bauer do?" for our in-person writing sample.

Of course, applicants who do not know who Jack Bauer is would be immediately waitlisted.

Good luck on the interview tomorrow...hopefully you won't have flight issues! I have an interview on 4/9. Let me know what you think...i really like the school so far!

So I received an email on Mar 11 saying that my application is still under review. Should I call them to see if I am accepted or rejected or wait it out? Did you receive an interview acceptance through email or snail mail?

🙁

Congrats on getting accepted to your first choice. Do you think alot of people may really decline UNE offers? I hope so, because I interviewed there 2 days ago and it is my first choice. 🙄

Interviewed on 3/26 and got my acceptance letter today. I'm pretty stoked 🙂

Hello Everyone

I got an interview invite for April 16th. I was wondering if anyone got interview on the same date?? will be nice to know 🙂

I have an interview on 4/9 as well and I'm coming from Dallas! Sorta nervous and excited at the same time. Second time to go up to Maine this year. Is there an essay? The other schools I've interviewed at had essays and they all did it in a different manner.

I thought it went pretty okay ...Thanx🙂

I really hope I can go there

I know! I'm wondering how many people they've already interviewed. My interview date was 3/26, but it was too soon from the date I received the invite, but I'm just curious as to how the interview process went.

The whole process was pretty lax. The actual interview felt more like a conversation - I didn't feel as though they threw me curveballs or asked questions that they think would stump me. Just make sure you know about the school and why you want to get into pharmacy.

Thank you! Did you have to write an essay? By the way, congratulations on your acceptance!

Thanks a lot.

I wouldn't call it an "essay" but a "writing sample." All of the candidates are presented a topic and after reading about the topic, you have write about it. Sorry for being so overly general, but it's really nothing you have to worry about. Remember - the admissions people at UNE aren't there to throw you off in either the writing or the interview. They just want to know your style.

Trust me - when you leave the interview, you'll be surprised at how relaxed it was.

Thank you! I'm just paranoid cause I've had interviews when there's about 4 people throwing questions at me and another one where you have a group discussion and you have to jump in there every chance you get. Those are so stressful! Okay, now I'm somewhat looking forward to this interview!
