That reminds me - would UT want final transcripts if we have already finished all prerequisite courses? I've sworn not to slack off too badly if I do get accepted.

I would assume if you are still finishing prereq's in the Spring semester that they would want you to finish with a certain GPA (I assume it will be in the email that starts with Congratulations!) and give to them as soon as it's available. If you finished your prereq's in Fall, like I did, they should already have your completed file.

Unless you have said you will graduate with a degree this semester, or you are finishing prereqs, I do not believe it would matter. Best to make sure and ask though when you get your acceptance.

I predict a deferral for myself. I'm thinking that maybe I did well enough to not get a quick rejection, and if I'm extraordinarily lucky, I'll be accepted within 2-3 months. I'm imagining this: I'm pick #145, but they only take 125 students. About 20 students will decline for various reasons, and I'll just barely make it. I really hope that I'm not #146 :scared:

I did say that I'll have a degree after this semester. I confess that the application process has affected my schoolwork a bit, but I'm trying to hold it all together.

I wish that I knew that the acceptance was a "when" for sure so that I could relax and give my schoolwork the full focus that it deserves.

I agree about being pessimistic, not expecting to get in, rather than being optimistic and fall on your face, but since we were round one interviewees I think UT thinks we are a pretty good match for what they want, at least on paper. So unless you horribly botched, which I'm sure you didnt, the interview we should have a fairly good shot.

They will want final transcripts, although if you're not taking any prereqs your grades shouldn't matter. They do expect you to maintain close to your current GPA though, so if you've made all A's so far, and suddenly make all D's this semester, that may be a problem. I would also ask them about dropping classes, one should be fine, but dropping lots of classes may look bad.

I regret not graduating back in December. I held out because I wasn't sure how paying back student loans would work out if I was out of school for several months.

Hopefully this anxious period will be over (in a good way) in a few days...

I wonder if they are going to review people over the break this Monday, in fact I wonder if they reviewed anyone over the weekend. It'd be precious waste of time 😉 if they didn't (less wait for us).

I think that the next set of interview invitations will be coming out later this week. Some advice for you guys not at UT: make sure you know where you are going and know how parking rules work.

When I went, I wasn't worried because they said that we could use the garages. However, they were closed to people who didn't have some kind of access card.

I spent a long time trying to find a spot, worried that I would be late. It's a good thing that I left very early.

I've been thinking that current UT students had some advantages over us non-UT people about familiarity with the place, some of the people, etc. I know that I would have been far less nervous and more functional if it was like that for me.

I hope UT takes that into consideration at least a little bit.

I've visited UT in the past and used the parking lot, not sure which one (fyi - I'm NOT a UT student). I wonder if it was just the day you were there or the parking lot you used? Anyone else know anything about this?

In the interview invite they should really tell you that parking is a clusterf**k at best at UT. Even if you are a current student and have class "C" (the only really affordable) parking, you still need to get there before 9AM to park On-campus (by on-campus, I mean behind the football stadium); otherwise, you need to park on the other side of the highway and ride a bus over. Yes, it truly sucks that much. You can pay $500-600 for a parking garage space for the year, but for those of us not made out of cash, "C" parking is the only other way.

Realize also that traffic in Austin is almost nonexistent with the exception of between 5-6 PM on weeknights when UT is NOT in a long (fall, spring) session. Otherwise, traffic literally starts at 3PM for all highways except for I35 South of the river where it never ever clears (except some Sunday mornings.)

Glad to hear you found a spot though--I most likely would have ended up parking illegaly and getting ticketed and/or towed if I were in your position.

So if you're a visitor, yes the garages are your only true hope--unless it's after 5:45 on a Friday. There are several to choose from. If one says "card only" that doesn't mean all will. So just keep trying!

lmao yeah the huge parking lot on the 35 side of the stadium is so far from everything its pointless. If you're a UT student just take the shuttle to your interview. If you're not a UT student take the shuttle to your interview. If you're coming in from out of town fly southwest and take a cab. Getting around Austin driving yourself is an exercise in frustration.

I wish that more than just a few of us that interviewed on Friday and Saturday posted on this forum so that we'd sooner know if anything was happening.

Ohh... That just shows how much more serious we are about pharmacy. We should get points for that 😀

I think that I'm checking email way too often. I was even checking yesterday (Sunday) hoping for something miraculous.

Please, UT, don't crush my soul!

A friend of mine just forwarded me a response he got when he emailed Dr. Wilcox about the re-applicant interview scheduling and he said that the rumor that re-applicants get preferential treatment or get put exclusively in the last interview round is "yet another urban myth" and that interviews invitations are extended "when the applications are truly complete." Everyone take a deep breath and relax.

Anyone else brave enough to e-mail Dr. Wilcox about their status?

I want to, but I'm afraid of making him mad. If we don't hear anything sooner, I'm going to wait until at least Friday before asking.

Don't be... he is sooo nice. And he emails back so quickly 😀

i will if i dont get an invitation for the next round :scared: dr wilcox is really helpful I wouldnt worried about making him mad. he's pretty nice about answering questions

Interesting. Last year he said something different when someone asked a question about it in his LPPA presentation. The question was, "How do you evaluate reapplicants?" His answer was something like: Generally they are the first group of people we look at to see what changes they have made to make themselves better applicants.

I guess technically that doesn't mean that they are therefore the first group to be extended interview invitations, but it sounds like he's said several different things on the subject. Or maybe there's more of a clear all-applicants-are-equal policy for this year's application process. I'm not trying to get anyone upset here--

Dude, you know you would have been in the first round if it hadn't been 2 weeks early this year. No worries! 😉

I hear you on not making him mad. I don't want to get on his bad side either. I think one e-mail about an update after almost 3 weeks is not going overboard. Plus each day that passes waiting, is a drag. I will wait until Wednesday (if I can), then I'll e-mail him for sure. Last year this time, when I was reading all these posts, I didn't think this waiting could be this bad 😱

ah... the agony... waiting... only one more week.. we can do it 🙂

Did the main part of the application have a question about pharmacy experience?

I ask because I was looking at the expanded resume stuff I submitted, and I somehow didn't mention my time volunteering at a pharmacy. I tried looking at the application, but there is no way to review it.

when did you get all of your application turned in?

i turned in my part of it 1/22/08. my last letter got in on 1/25/08 so i was in all likelihood just too late for the first round.

Check Your Admissions Check Page On Utexas.edu For The Admissions Decision!!!!

Good Luck

Hey, I just logged in and it said I'm accepted!!!!!! I'm so happy, I can't stand it!! So how did you know for me to check, because I just checked this morning and there was nothing. Anyways, thanks for the the giant tip!

Nothing for me. I guess that means that I'm deferred. I'll finally get the hint when I'm deferred all the way into July...

FixLittlePeople, CONGRATULATIONS! I only hope I'll find myself in the same position about a month from now🙂

Knickerbocker, it ain't over till it's over. Don't give up hope! 😉

im sure all of them haven't gone out yet... keep checking.

congrats to fixlittlepeople! hope to see you next fall

i just randomly signed in to my status check and there it was... i was just doing my usual rounds to make sure nothing was wrong or changed. lucky shot:luck:

Congrats to you TX08CPhT as well! Knickerbocker, ye dont give up! Keep checking, they can't have notified everyone the same time.

Congratulations to both of you!! I checked my status and nothing has changed, so I emailed Dr. W. But at this point, I'm assuming I have a big fat D for deferral. yay. Oh well, it's not as bad as an R. I never thought I'd make it in the first round since I don't have a 4.0 (or very close to it) GPA and assumed I'd hear a yes or no in April or May. Just would have been nice to not have to worry about it anymore or interview anywhere else. Sigh.

But, again, CONGRATULATIONS to those of you who got accepted in the first round!:horns:

i'm really happy for you guys. hopefully, i'll be celebrating with you guys, but i gotta get that interview first. 😀

I meant not to, but I built myself up too much for a first round acceptance. I really need to not do it for subsequent rounds, so I'm going to try to not to think much about getting into UT.

Maybe things will go well and I will be back here in a month or two.

I just asked Dr. Wilcox and he confirmed that they only accept up to the number of seats available (125), not the previously thought 145.

I got an email about 15 minutes ago saying that I was accepted!!! 😀😀😀

where do you see your acceptance on status check? I didn't see anything there but i got an acceptance letter through e-mail! 🙂
