Knickerbocker, here's how it went down. I checked my status page and it didn't say anything, so I emailed Dr. W asking if I was deferred. He emailed me back after a few hours saying I was accepted and should be receiving an email and packet. I didn't get the email until about 5PM.

Well, it looks like I'm the only regular here who did not get in 🙁

Just in case something miraculous happens, where does the application status change occur? Would it be on the main application status check page or in the pharmacy application window?

Congrats FixLittlePeople, TX08CPhT and Happy Hounds!!! 👍 👍 👍

Time for some well-earned celebratory drinking!!!

My thoughts exactly, some Mickey's for the low-on-budget on a Tuesday night.

Knickerbocker, it would look like this on the front page of the Application Status Check page:

Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the College Of Pharmacy ( Undeclared ) at The University of Texas at Austin

And that followed about 3 hours after with an e-mail. Hope you get it, if not this round, the next!

well i got my acceptance email sometime before 3 🙂. still no change on my status check though...

any of ya'll that were accepted, anyone know anything about how well we have to do this semester? hah.... also, we need to get us a UT Pharmacy School Class of 2012 facebook group made 🙂 (except i dont know any of ya'lls names)

I want to know of you people that got in today, when you log into your Acceptance Status Check page if the college/university you are still attending is highlighted orange (incomplete) or blue (complete). If it's orange does that mean you are completing prereq's? Thanks guys.

Everything on my page is in blue, even though I'm still finishing prereqs this semester. As a point of reference though, I have nothing on my status page saying anything about an acceptance. I got an email from Spencer and Wilcox---maybe not everyone's status pages are updated yet.

for those of you that got accepted, why dont you update on the status page thread. this way if others need help they know who they can come to. Congrats to you 2012 students.

They never got to me. The earliest I will hear anything would be around the 20th of March. I hate this situation; I really want to get into UT, but if I get accepted elsewhere, I'll have to be a jerk and decline. What a lousy situation.

I wish that I could have just had a final yes or no already.

Did you email Dr. Wilcox asking him your status? I don't know if I should email him or not.. How did they review the interviewees? Was it by day/time of interview or some other factor? If they defer or deny us, will they let us know?

No, don't email him, they sent out a mass email. If you didn't get any email and your application status doesn't have the "congratulations" bit, then you are probably deferred.

When did you interview?

Yeah... What day/time did everyone who go in interview?

If they really didn't get to me, then I guess I still have a chance. 34 days...

oops, I already emailed him. He hasn't responded yet though. I hope he doesn't get annoyed. So how do you know they didn't get to yours yet? Do they send mass emails out to people they deny as well? I interviewed 2/2 in the afternoon

dude you are obsessive compulsive.

E-mail the admissions guy to officially find out.

My guess is you are deferred since you admitted that you blew the interview.

Take a look at UT's average PCAT, that is a pretty good indication that the interview is real important.

Go to work on your interviewing skills instead of posting every twenty minutes on this board.

The email I got said that they didn't get to mine yet. I wouldn't take the fact that you didn't receive one to mean anything about about being denied.

Last year's UT thread shows that many people had to wait a long time before they were reviewed. Many February interviewees didn't get accepted until early April. The schedule is two weeks earlier this year, so that puts us at about the same relative time (March 20) as last year.

Give the guy a break.
These forums were created so that people can get support while applying to pharmacy school, not so that losers like you can come and tear them down. No one wants to listen to your a-holish comments.
If he wants to post every twenty minutes, so what? No one else on this board cares, and neither should you.

Give the guy a break.

I agree. You can't comprehend the anxiety each of us go through unless you've been there yourself. I'm assuming the new guy is not going through the same thing. Even if he is, he still should have remembered that people deal with important events in their lives a little differently.

Knick, good luck! I hope you get in.

Knick, good luck! I hope you get in.

Hey I wish everyone the best of luck too, but am I wrong or did knickerbocker lead everyone to believe that he/she HADN'T emailed Dr. Wilcox to find out his/her status?

However, in this post...

The email I got said that they didn't get to mine yet.

...clearly we can see that is not the case. So, sorry for the misunderstanding. We're all still rooting for you knickerbocker... at least you didn't get a big fat DENIAL 😱

Thanks everyone, for the support. I admit that I have been obsessing over this a bit. It's just that I really want to get into UT.

I did get a message from UT about being deferred. Hopefully they will see enough strengths in me when I am reviewed on March 20th.

Best of luck to Knickerbocker and all of the other UT hopefuls, I know how hard waiting must be but hang in there... everything will be ok. :luck:

And to answer the question, I interviewed at 4:00 pm on Feb 2.

I was just giving Knickerbocker some constructive criticism. He needs to work on his interviewing skills and maybe that would entail spending less time on this board.

If I have offended Knickerbocker, I apologize.

However nehe87 I am sorry that the menstrual cramps are getting the best of you this month. Are you done with your trite little loser/a-hole rant?

Somehow I doubt you are.

Aking, you need take a chill pill dude. If you can't say anything positive, I'm sure no one wants to hear you.

As far as giving "constructive criticism", were you there during Knickerbocker's interview to know that he needs to work on his interviewing skills? What if he aced the interview, he was just being hard on himself, as I was too?

However nehe87 I am sorry that the menstrual cramps are getting the best of you this month.

No, I've got Advil, so I'm totally fine. Thanks for the concern, though. *snicker*😎

Try Midol. That could be your problem.

I wasn't going to complain about what you said to me, but it is apparent that you are now just trolling. 👎

Edit: This is my 1000th post! I should retire this account at such a nice, rounded number

Nah, though I agree 1000 is a nice round number. I like the avatar and I'd hate to have you start another account with that one. Might take you for an avatar stealing troll or something.🙄:meanie:

To those wondering why they received an email saying they're accepted, but their status page hasn't updated, here is why:

If you are already enrolled in UT for undergrads, and you only filled out the Pharm.D. application, the status page for Pharm.D. application will not change. Its just there to tell you, you've sent in all the required materials. I called today and asked and that is what they told me.

So if you got an email saying you're in, you're in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

congrats to everyone to getting in to UT! Has anyone who got in recieve the official letter in the mail yet? I know it has been only 2 days....By the way we should get a group going for UT class 2012 on facebook!😀

Haven't checked my mail today yet, but no letter as of yesterday. Hoooo, I feel OLD. I had to sign up for facebook for a study group for a class I'm taking, and I totally don't get it! 😕 I think I need to get a tutorial from my little brother! :d

hi everyone. i need your advice. i'm hoping to get an interview invite for the second round. i'm a reapplication btw. do you guys think it would be ok to e-mail dr. wilcox before the interview invites for the second round gets sent out? not that i know what i would say or ask him though...

i'm 100% certain it'll be fine. just ask him about the status of your application and when the next set of interview invitations is coming out; ask whatever you want every time i send him an email Dr. Wilcox appears more than happy to reply promptly and concisely

What sort of advice did you guys receive (if you asked for it) about reapplying? Also, did you get any feedback about your interviews?

I heard a rumor from a professor at my university that UT has told applicants from my school that they should take some courses at UT to see if they could handle it... When you come from a fourth tier school, people really judge you in a bad way 🙁

If I don't get in this year, I'm kind of thinking about doing some post-bac classes at UT and joining their pre-pharmacy association, in addition to trying to get more pharmacy experience.

You figure out fb??? Feel free to pm me if you like. I've been using fb for a while now, maybe I could help...

Pharmacy experience is what a lot of re-applicants lacked originally. I did get some feedback on my interview and how it showed I hadn't really gained a hands-on knowledge of the field. I recommend you don't invest too much time in the Longhorn Pre-Pharmacy Association; its great for networking with future colleagues (which you could do elsewhere) but not great for getting you any points as far as actually being admitted. Attend meetings for the information but otherwise use your time in real pharmacy settings.

As far as classes go I think you should avoid listening to rumors or putting too much faith in the knowledge base on SDN and just email Dr. Wilcox for answers. I guarantee that you won't be looked on negatively for asking questions. Btw its 1:40am and you're on SDN; maybe just a little obsessing? Relax guy.

Just as a background...I graduated from the nursing program at UT. I was able to get an interview last year and felt pretty good about the interview. Dr. Wilcox didn't really say much about improving my scores and raising my gpa. Mainly, he said that I should volunteer in a pharmacy, fix my essay to pinpoint exactly why i wanted to do the switch from nursing to pharmacy. Looking at my essay from last year, I can see why they couldn't find the reasons why I wanted to switch. I wasn't very clear on my essay and mainly glazed over the topic. Anyway, It might help to take some courses at UT, but that would be expensive. From what I gather your GPA is pretty good. What you might do is follow WillMadHarp's advice and get more pharmacy experience.

I think you should get in though. Just hang in there. It's only February. 🙂

I called the school today and found out that they havent sent the acceptance letter nor the packet yet! Did anyone pay the $200 deposit yet? UT said that it would be ok if we paid it. I just want my packet, & start doing the stuff that is required! UT rocks!

That is so funny...I called the school, Ms. Spencer sent the people who got in an updated thing about the packet! lol

I made the facebook group... it's called UT Pharmacy c/o 2012. join so i dont look like an idiot by myself!! haha.

congrats everyone!

how do we pay the fee without the packet?

I do have about 150 hours volunteer time in a hospital pharmacy over the past eight months. Maybe that will be enough. I feel dumb because I stumbled around on a vital question (what does a pharmacist do?) even though I had practiced for it. The real interview is just so much more intense when the stakes are so high.

I hope you are right about me getting in. I also hope that you are successful with your application. 👍

For those of you who got in: How much and what kind of pharmacy experience do you have?

well on the status page...i guess i didnt look carefully...there was an enrollment fee and it goes to the university...so i hope it will counted towards the pharmacy school or whatever fee they want. she said it was ok cause you kno how there is always a fee to reserve your seat.

I have a little over 200 hours of experience at a Kroger Pharmacy. I work only the Sunday shift every once and a while since school takes up most of my time... my boss is really flexible with my work hours.

Does anyone know if the essays that we have to write for the undergraduate transfer application are evaluated? I think that I have something very beneficial to my application in one of those essays.

To answer some earlier questions Knickerbocker, I interviewed saturday 2/2 at 10am. As far as pharm experience I only had at most 80 hours, but I have been in academic research for almost 2 years, which seems to be important to UT from what I've read and my interviewers 1st question was about my research. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

I received my acceptance letter, just a one page deal saying congrats, Friday 2/23. I also received an e-mail the same day from Ann saying the acceptance packages are not going out until early next week due to some delay.

I listed three summers of research on my resume, but I was not asked about it. My interviewer was from HEB grocery stores, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Also, a couple of his questions were slanted toward retail pharmacy, unfortunately (all of my experience is from a hospital).

Having him may have been bad since he is more business oriented (and thus a tougher interviewer) or good if he decided to do it differently and was extra lenient.

I really hope that they do go through everything during evaluations so that they see my research experience listed in my resume.

Edit:
Thinking about it, the HEB guy seemed pretty positive about much of what I said and did a ton of writing and encouraging. He also talked to me between a few questions to tell me some things about the field. I'm probably just focusing too much on the parts that are fuzzy in my memory when I stumbled for a while.

I haven't heard back yet. My application was pretty last minute. I haven't recieved anything about deferred(what does that mean), rejected, an interview, or anything else.
