Who else will be there?

Congrats, CatSpam. Just try not to hit on all the cute young girls while your there like you did in Amarillo.

Actual CatSpam quote: "I've got a question and I'd like you to answer because...well, you're cute."

Notification is by e-mail followed by snail mail.

You know, if you keep anyone around for long enough they are GOING to say something stupid. My stupidity just outed itself after a shorter period of time than others in Amarillo. This WON'T happen in Austin.

By the way. CONGRATULATIONS on hitting the trifecta. UH, TT, and UT. Mighty impressive. But I thought you'd hit it big. Way to go.

Made up your mind yet?

Hi, Glitterstar,

I, too submitted my app on the 31st and it wasn't until March 7th that I got proof positive that my application was truly complete.

Best thing to do is send an e-mail to Dr. Richard Wilcox ([email protected]). He is the assistant dean for admissions and has been very responsive to e-mails I've sent him in the past. Ask him about the status of your application and you'll be getting a response from the horse's mouth.

GOOD LUCK!

i just got my interview invite from ut for march 24/25! i think that i am going to try to sign up for saturday!

I'll be there!!! How are you guys preparing? And can someone recommend a hotel nearby and restaurants? I'll be flying in from Georgia!

I will be at the UT interview on the 24th or 25th as well. I submitted my application mid January. Oh, and CatSpam... I heard about you from a student who is at Texas Tech Pharmacy school, I think you are well known. I recognize the quote. lol. Good luck to everyone!

So round 2 invites are out, and I did not receive one 🙁 . I'm pretty upset, but I'm trying not to let it get to me. Would you all mind sharing your stats, so I can get an idea of what type of applicants they are interviewing?

I realize I am at a disadvantage with a 3.1, however I have plenty of pharmacy experience and volunteer work. Also, all of my pre-reqs were done here at UT. I really thought I would at least be invited for an interview.

Does anyone know how many more rounds there are, I believe there will be one last round in April. Please share if you have any more information.

my stats:

86 PCAT
sophomore at A&M

--i have heard that they are going to have 1-2 more interviews but that is all hearsay

Hi starsweet,

I believe the closest hotel to campus might be the Double Tree University Area, which is about 5 minutes from the pharmacy building and across the highway from the university.

Try to get a hotel/motel located near downtown (I recommend the Sheraton on I-35). If you're going to stay the night you'll at least want to catch some of the action on 6th Street. As for restaurants: Louie's 106, Jeffrie's, Zoot (if it's still there) are all OUTSTANDING restaurants. Could also try Mezzaluna on Colorado Ave.....heard great things but haven't eaten there myself.

Thanks guys! I won't have a car (at least not yet) so is the Sheraton relatively cheap and within walking distance to the College of Pharmacy? I'd like to stay at the Doubletree but I don't think I can afford it!

and if you want the biggest breakfast EVER, go to Juan in a Million. its east of 35 on cesar chavez. get the don juan...bet you anything you cant eat 2...

there arent really any hotels that are walking distance of the school. the doubletree is somewhat close, but its like a 25 minute walk on the otherside of the highway and then through campus. so imagine doing that in a suit or heels. just take a cab or ask whatever hotel youre staying at for shuttle info.

The Sheraton is several miles away from the campus. Therefore, I'd check Expedia.com or one of those services to check on a more suitable hotel for yourself. Of course, the Sheraton does have a shuttle service like most good hotels, so that might be a consideration.

Yea, amazing. I truly believe that ******* comment cost me a seat at Tech.

Does anyone know why we have to wait until March 16 or 17 just to call UT and confirm an interview date? 😕

Well, technically we're on Spring Break. 😀

Ahhh that makes sense!

By the way, UT allows you to finish prereqs this summer, right? I still have to take Genetics.

oh i didnt know that... I thought u had to finish it by the spring semester!

When I talked to them on the phone, they told me taking it in the summer was fine, but I was kinda surprised about this. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere on the website. It's kinda been nagging at me so I thought I'd ask on here.

Oh good, I feel better now. 😀

I would have to move to Austin early in the summer and take it there. There are no schools in my area that offer it.

Wow, I'm surprised that UT lets you complete science classes in the summer...I know UH requires science / math to be completed by spring sem. 😕

Yeah I'm surprised too! I know both tech and UH require you to complete them by spring semester. So I guess UT is more flexible 🙂.

It was good... but really hard!!!! Lot of personal questions --- basically everything about my personal statement --- questioned over what I answered. So now just waiting... :scared:

Are you ready for your Austin Interview?

Good Luck 👍

oh u did... thats right! hehe I think for all of us who havent heard from them, we'll keep being reviewed until the last admission comm. mtg, and thats when they'll send the final accept and reject letters.

I hope you get in 🙂 :luck:

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows how many people UT will accept and if they interview everyone who applied or if they pre-select, if so how many do they invite for an interview?

I just signed up for 1-1:30 on Friday, March 24. Now I'm looking at the letter and it says the essay will be from 4:30-5. Does this mean I have to wait for 3 hours? 😕

Yeah, the exact same thing happened to me during my UT interview. Luckily, one of the pharmacy students in the welcome room suggested we go get some lunch while we wait, so about 5 of us went to the Union and ate lunch and talked with the student. So the wait wasn't that bad.

Would those of you Texas interviewees (including UH and TT) mind sharing your stats with me. Just of of curiosity.

Me:

Pharmacy pre-requisites: 3.67
At the time I received my BS (biology): 3.67 overall
61 post-baccalaureate hours: 3.9
Current overall (212 total hours): 3.74
Composite PCAT: 91

Like I said, just out of idle curiosity.

pre-req: 3.4
overall: 3.2
B.S. Biochemistry, May 2006
pcat: 75
accepted: UH and TTU

CONGRATS on your acceptances. Now the problem of choosing.......hmmm

im going to tech...did my undergrad here...and i dont like the big city of houston...

Good choice. Tech is an outstanding school. I think you'll come away much better prepared than if you'd gone to Houston. Besides, I agree...Houston sucks.

so has ut not sent out any rejection letters?

Now you've done it. :scared:

I talked to the city of Houston and they're pretty mad about what you said. 😡 In fact, the city of Houston has challenged the city of Amarillo to a rumble tonight. Amarillo should meet Houston in Abilene at midnight. Chains and switchblades are allowed, but no machetes.

The winner claims the title of second best pharmacy school city in Texas...right behind Austin!

I still think Tech will win. In my abundant free time I've decided to help draft some new questions for Tech's "Critical Skills" assessment test for next year. Here's my first try. See if you get the right answer:

1. Plato is a man. Socrates likes boats. Milwaukee, Wisconsin is planning to stage a regatta featuring miniature row boats constructed from Kellogg's Fruity Pebbles compressed together with barnacle glue. It will soon be December 7th. From this we can conclude:

a. Socrates would have too much of an advantage in the regatta since he has been dead for a shorter period of time than Plato.

b. Cats make suitable delivery platforms for multiple, independently-targetable re-entry vehicles.

c. The people of Milwaukee are pasty, fat-ass losers.

d. Milky Way is less a galaxy than it is a great-tasting candy bar.

Good Luck

hahaha
that was seriously the dumbest "test" ive ever taken. its a good thing that i had heard from other tech students that the dont put a whole lot of emphasis on that thing or else i might have just left amarillo at lunch...
