How long did it take you to hear back from UofU after your secondary was complete?

When did you complete your secondary?

I heard back about two weeks later.

The day they got my final letter, they sent me an interview invite. I am an out of state reapplicant.

The u of u admissions criteria are so bogus. 10% grades 10% physician shadowing?? hmm, makes sense to me:barf: I've heard the dean of admissions talk at least 3 times. Every time he's bragged about rejecting people with high gpa/mcat. Whatever dude, I'll just go out of state.

How were you all notified of your interview invites? I've been complete for a week and I'm already starting to get anxious. Did your status pages change?

It took them a little over a week for me. (My last LOR didn't get in until recently) They will send you an email and your status page will update as well. Then you give them three dates and they will call you back. If you haven't head anything for a couple weeks you could always call them to check on the status of your application.

Yup, not until late March is what they told me.

I'm expecting the same. I think they accept a few people before March, but I'm not counting on it (even though it would make me very happy😀!)

hey did everyone get an email after their interview about the research opportunities available at the univ of utah? i don't know whether to wait till i find out whether i got in or not before i begin emailing people about different research things.

what do you guys think??

Wow...

As far as research opportunities go, couldn't hurt to dig a little bit deaper through emails if you are truly interested in what they have going on.

Not to mention if you get waitlisted, you would have another good reason to tell them why you want to go to their school

oh wow that's a really good idea. i never even thought about having that to talk about if I get waitlisted.

Thanks a lot elder...did you hear back from utah?

I have an interview coming up in a couple weeks. Should be fun, don't really know what my chances of getting in are, but it will be fund to check it out. I have been on "interview hiatus" for almost a month, so my interview fatigue is finally wearing off. Not that I had so many interviews, but I had them all bunched together (3 in 5 days all over the place) and that wore me out. 🙂

I got one of those e-mails as well.. I'd be interested to see if everyone got those or what?

Thanks Utahmed! I was a little stressed, but you have been very helpful!

If I have a low science gpa of 2.6, and I want to take extra science classes to get it up to >3.0 to be considered, how would Utah look at this? I graduate this year but I want to take two extra full semesters of science classes to accomplish this.

Hello quitomate. Are you applying next cycle? I don't think that would hurt you at all.

yay, finally got my u of u interview invite.. Is there any disadvantage to interviewing past January?.

From what I know, not at all. They are not rolling admissions, and they accept most their applicants after all have been interviewed and reviewed.

A few outstanding applicants find out before March (one the students who gave us a tour found out in November last year, he was also accepted to Mayo) So, there may be a few less slots by the time you interview, but it sounded like the bulk of applicants find out in March, so January/February interviews probably don't hurt so much like they would at many other schools.

In the admissions office waiting area they have some class books with pictures of the class members and for each one it has the field they matched to but not the place. So, if you really want to know you can go look at those books 🙂

Chances are I won't be flying back across the country to look at the books.

🙂

Every school that I have interviewed at has the data readily available, so I am sure that someone has it on digits. Not a big deal though, they have a great program and no doubt their match rates are solid.

does anyone know if Utah wants fall semester grades if we don't hear back from them till March??

If you put that you would be completing classes on your application, then I would send them an updated transcript.

You have to get your science GPA up before you can apply to Utah, they won't consider anyone with less than a 3.0. It will actually look pretty good if you can raise your GPA that much. However, you might need to do some calculations because I'm not sure it's possible in just one semester, or even 2.
