i just got an interview at unlv, just wondering if anyone else has had one there before to give me some tips,

via email or postal?

by email this morning

is your guys' confirmation thing to fax back just on the end of the email or is it an actual attachment?

Just fill out the attachment at the end of the email message that states Interview confirmation and fax it back...

yea i know. i was just wondering if you guys have an actual file attachment or just have the thing at the end of the email message. is it really just those few lines at the end?

Got one today!!!!!!

Got my interview invite today via email. To say the least I was shocked to get it. I emailied them about a month ago making sure everything was going smoothly and they emailed me back saying that they would get back to me in a week. After two weeks of not getting anything I just figured they were going to reject me... but surprisingly they're going to give me a chance. I'm really excited about this one. Jan 31 interview! Anyone else get an invite today?

Congrats Airsimon. About half of the interviewees at UNLV when I went were from BYU. I'm sure that you'll enjoy it. Really nice facilities. If I were you I would try to find somebody now from BYU who's going that same date and try to drive down with him/her; you'll save a lot of dough. Trust me, tons of students from BYU (or Utah/Weber St./UVSC/SUU for that matter) will be there so it won't be that hard to find somebody. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions about the process; I'd be more than happy to help.

airsimon, I just got an interview invite today for Jan 31st as well. I was curious to see if you or anyone had heard the probability of getting acepted with a post-Dec interview.

How late you get your interview has to do both with how strong your application is and how early you submitted.
If you submitted in early summer and get a late january interview, your chances would not be as great as if you had just submitted now and got that interview. By the way, unlv tends to invite interviews a good distance out (timewise)

Honestly, I was not expecting to get an interview from UNLV at all. When i emailed them about my 18 on the DAT, they said I should probably retake since they want at least a 20. My file was complete at the end of August (even though my AADSAS was submitted late May). I waited for a Dentist LOR and my DAT scores to be sent out.
I'm sure I'm not a first choice for them, or else I would have gotten an earlier interview, but I'm just excited I got one. They way I look at it, is I'm probably interviewing for a waitlist spot. But that's OK... if i can slip in off the waitlist I'd do it. UNLV is my first choice.

i really like UNLV and feel good about my interview there. it's def at the top of my list.

lil nervous tho, since they interview 450+ applicants for 75 spots....

really? but why would they invite ppl that they didn't seriously think they could accept? do schools really just keep interviwing to fill up their wait list?
I hope not because I am flying across the country and I hope it hold more of a chance then for a waitlist spot, don't get me wrong I just want to be a dentist at the end and don't care how too.

I just really hope that the outcome looks more favorable because everyone puts such a negative connotation with waitlist spot. What do you guys think?

Yeah they do this. It happened to someone I know last year. They might even tell the interviewees "You guys are interviewing for waitlist spots" course that's not until the day of the interview. Maybe some schools will tell you pre-interview that there are only waitlist spots left

is there any way to confirm this other than just call and try to bump up the interview date so that its not in the waitlist date? anyone know how full unlv is so far based on those that have accepted and interviewd?

also, for those of you that few across the country for unlv any travel suggestions not mentioned in the interview feedback on where to stay and such?

Wow, why'd you resurrect this dinosaur? Answers: No, No I don't think even UNLV knows because people aren't required to hand in their acceptances until January 15th, as for travel suggestions, You probably don't want to stay on the strip, but just stay somewhere cheap.

as mentioned in another thread, even on the days that people have cancelled interviews, admissions people aren't opening those dates to move up later interviews. Any interview that you get there will still technically put you in the running for a spot (they should keep the class partially open until all interviews are completed)

Well That is not true with UNLV because I had my interview scheduled for March but I called last week and they moved me up to January. Thanks whoever canceled it. 😉

that's awesome!! CONGRATS 🙂 anyone else have any luck with bumping up your interview date? what do you say to get them to check?

everytime I call I hear something different but recently it has been that there are no new openings and to call back after the holidays...for those of you that get through what are the magic words you say to get them to even check for open days? Is it something in my voice that alerts them and makes them not even want to check before they tell me no? I just want to bump up my interview as much as possible so it's farther away from what can be a waitlist spot 🙁
