Hi all,
I was accepted to UNLV back in December and I have yet to make a decision on it. I am an out of state applicant so the tuition is a big factor for me. However, what are your opinions of the school and what it has to offer? If you were accepted and wanted to attend what about it would you feel proud of and if you were to decline an acceptance what would your turn-offs be about it besides tuition and location (if applicable)?
Thanks for your thoughts in advanced during this confusing time!

Do you actually consider the tuition a negative. It is one of the few schools to allow residency so it is cheaper than that of most out of school schools (app. 130K). You can't beat the warm weather and the fact that the school has all new, state of the art equiptment. Where else are you considering? I also like the idea of using laptops and the module learning. For me it was an easy decisionand I have paid my deposit, but I am going to spend more time at the school later this month.

Well, that first year tuition is 50K, but if you keep your ducks in a row and get residency, you go to 30K, 30K, and 20K for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years respectively. That's really not bad at all. Only in-state tuition for all 4 years beats that. I like the fact that they have very nice and new facilities and the students I talked to during my interview made a very positive impression on me. Personaly, living in Vegas is...meh. If it was just me, I wouldn't be worried, but I have a fam. Blasted hot in the summer but winters are very nice. It's close to home for me (lol, ok, for my wife) and we could actually go back and visit them a couple times a year. For me, the good outweighs the bad by a lot, but so does another school right now. But to keep it on topic, UNLV is definately a top choice for me.

I could be wrong, but when looking into residency status with UNLV, I could've sworn I read that if you work for a government agency (such as UNLV) you automatically are considered a resident. If this is true, I would move there a little earlier than planned, get a job at UNLV cutting the grass at the football stadium, and apply for residency.

Good luck, when you cut field turf it doesn't grow back.
