OK, so I stole this thread from the UWSOM guys, but imitation is the most sincere form of flattery...

The secretary said today that 10 people had already been accepted. I'm #21
Any other waitlistees?

Congratulations, Hope you get in! I know the average is 25, so you're looking pretty good. I'm not holding my breath. (I know they did get to 31 last year, but who knows)

Most movement will take place after the 15.

they were supposively at 10 on May 1! Then the two other SDNers said they sent in their withdraw letters last week...Oh well, in another 35 minutes it'll be five pm, and we can relax, knowing that UNM won't be calling us for another day.

Good luck everyone. :luck: :luck: :luck:

so, that leaves a mean of 26, and a standard deviation of 4 (rounding off)...or has it been that long since I took stats?
Too bad there are not more people interested in this topic. I'd really like to have enough people so that we can have one person check per week how far into the list they are...but alas, we shall just wait.

But if they interviewed fewer this year. Last year they interviewed a record low and took a record number of people off the list. The trend is that fewer interviewees mean more come off the wait list. (If fewer than about 295 interviewees.) So if they interviewed 221 again this year I might have a shot. If they interviewed 300, then probably not.

Quadratic Fit
Accepted alternates = y
Interviewees = x
y = 0.0022x2 - 1.2916x + 213.32
R^2 = 0.6177

BTW additional years have been added.
------

Here are some stats I drudged up. Does anyone know how many applied / interviewed this year?

Accepted wait list students vs complete applicants
1997: 24 of 320
1998: 19 of 319
1999: Unknown
2000: 27 of 335
2001: 26 of 329
2002: 30 of 255 -- Fewer interviews?
2003: 24 of 271
2004: 25 of 274
2005: 19 of 274
2006: 33 of 221 -- Fewer interviews?

Computed by subtracting matriculations from acceptances.

So are you going to call them tomorrow or wenesday and see how many slots there are after May 15th? Thus far I haven't violated their "please refrain from inquiring about your alternate list status more than once/month"...but it might be real tempting to later this week.

I called about a week ago to schedule an appointment to go over my application. I ask if she would mind checking the list and they are still at #10 as of a week ago.

I got off the waitlist today, but I won't be joining the class. I don't know what number I was.

so...that means we're at approx # 14, maybe closer...
(10 via the what the secretary says, two more SDNer's giving up their spots (diegot505, angeljj) and now chula505, so that means they moved on to the next person. 10 + 2 + 2 = 14)

7 more to go para me!

Couldn't resist. Called today and found out they are at #20 on list!

has anyone heard anything or called to find out if there's been any more movement?

They Are At #21!!!!!!!!!! Just got my call at 2pm mdt! :D :D :D :D

I just called to check on some misc. stuff, and thought I'd ask. They're at #22. They've heard from all their accepted-out-right people, and the only movement they're expecting is if anyone decides to defer for a year, and the deadline for that is June 1.

Sorry I couldn't bring better news, but it is some news:oops:
